Great PSA video. Yes, cotton burns and polyester and nylon melt. Now, if you are working with polyester or nylon webbing, you will want run the cut end through a flame to melt the fibers. There are also hot knives that will cut and burn the ends or cut sunbrella type fabric. Otherwise, they fray like mad.
I agree! It is so important to know what fabrics we are working with! I'll have to keep that in mind for the tulle I sometimes add to my quilts. I don't melt as much as I should.
That sounds like a safer way to tell. 🔥 I'll have to try ironing these to see if they smell different. That won't help me when my allergies are acting up though.
