  • Introducing the HCalory Diesel Heater that is packaged like those $1000 diesel heater units most "overland" companies are trying to profit on but a fraction of the cost.
    In my time of researching custom diesel heaters being packaged and sold, this one is without a doubt the best value.
    Where I purchased my heater:

    I have the vevor all in one vertical unit and it has been great. The only issue i have is i use it sitting outside my van so i had to jury rig some weatherproofing for it for rain and snow. My goal is to mount it on the side of my van, in a waterproof box but when I saw these, I thought it was already done for me. Sadly, I emailed them to confirm it being weatherproof and they told me it is not. So, I still have to make my own box to mount mine in.

    I see so many people tying to make a portable model installed in one of those plastic cases and most of them are just an abortion and will probably melt of start a fire! This unit has some thought into it and the price isn't too bad if you can still get one off Amazon.
    One thing I see is they still come with that shitty cheap green fuel line which should be replaced before using the unit. It's dangerous!
    The intake hose still comes with that crappy muffler (no it's not an air filter) and actually needs an air filter to keep the intake air clean.

      You did fine. I have this one. Box is flimsy and it broke pretty quickly. Didn’t take much to put it in an Apache box though because most everything you need to do it is already there. Plus the weight on this one when the tank is full is very off center and it likes to tip over.

      @@ryanscholl5450 good to hear for me, bad for you, lol. I still think I ended up spending a good bit more on mine but at least it works well. I may be looking into swapping the controller for a different one, they're hard to use and easy to break.

    • @ryanscholl5450
      @ryanscholl5450 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Benson4A52 it worked out ok for me since I needed a self contained one pretty quick. Broke it when I put it in the shop after a couple uses. Only thing I had to buy to make it work in the new box was a shower drain of all things. Used that as my ducted air intake with a 3” rubber pipe coupler to connect it to the heater. Make sure you’ve got a legitimate filter for the combustion chamber intake too. I grabbed an oil breather filter from oreilly. The “filter” that comes with the Chinese heaters is no filter at all. Looks like one but if you pop that cap off there’s nothing but a piece of foam with a hole straight through the middle.

    Yeah I just checked Amazon don't know when they're going to come back and the other site the heater site they're 299 so if they do come back to Amazon they'll probably raise their price so it's just best to order it from their site it's still a good deal cuz if you put one together like I did you'll have over $300 into everything if you build it like this unit is the only thing is I can't find if it has a regular thermostat where you can set it say like at 68°, mine the only way I can adjust the temperature is by opening my windows to get the right temperature I like if I close the windows on the lowest setting one setting below number one it's still too hot and my fifth wheel so I have to open up Windows to make the temperature right so if you can find out if it has that kind of a thermostat please advise and very nice video

    9:20 the pump is mounted wrong, very wrong. There will be bubbles that would cause the piston to wear out on the top side. There is a reason why the pumps must be mounted in vertical position, maximum angle 35 or 45° (differs between manufacturers).

But Hcalory uses the same basic China produced essential parts as Vevor (burner, pump, display, software, tubing a.s.o.) so the additional price is primarily for the box and the improved manual. I would never buy the Chinese crap, unless you know what you’re doing to keep these things running and how to tune them. It’s a waste of money you’ll wind up buying the more expensive ones which they’re not made in China FYI.

    I Do Not Agree. This Is Not An "All In One" Solution. Maybe A Couple Of Folks Might Like It, A Game Changer?? Not Really.

      I picked up a bunch of 15-gallon barrels for free. 14 of them is enough for the whole winter, about $800 to heat the whole 1,500 sq ft house instead of $1,200-1,600 for LP. Diesel stores for a decade or more easily. get ready.

      not really, any pelican or apache style box will run you over a 1/3 of the cost of this unit. Maybe if you used a cardboard box :)

      so the ducted hot air is coming out over where you have the exhaust positioned, not on the inlet side@@NemesisDigitalMedia

      @@pauldick516 yes the intake/ducted air are on the same side and the exhaust/warm air discharge are on the other.
