This was filmed at salt flats in western US, probably California. I believe she is late 9 or early 10 in this video, singing her favorite song. She has sung this so many times in so many ways with big bands, jazz quartets, acoustic guitar or piano backing & even a capella. Every one is different & all but one, are her arrangements. That exception was when Quincy Jones personally invited her to open his 85th Birthday Concert at the 02 Arena in London when she was 12. To honor him, she used Quincy's arrangement he wrote for Frank Sinatra's big hit version & it's stunning.
Angelina posted September 23th, 2015 on her Insta: In the making of my own music video! The related pic shows her in the white dress with sunglasses, the hills in the back wich were also seen in this video --> 9yo, but half a year older as in I put a spell on you. As far as the performance at the O2 Arena is concerned, I can only agree with you. Anyone who has seen it and any other of her “Fly Me to the Moon” performances back-to-back (regardless of age and accompaniment) will quickly recognize that the latter is a different arrangement. The fact that it's always used a little differently helps keep it interesting, even for fans.
When people say she arranged this music they probably don't fully understand what _"arranging"_ means too a musician. I would say it's better to use the term "full artistic control over the production". I don't think she sat on her own and wrote down the chords, every note in the arpeggios and the rhythms on a score. The arrangement is more likely to have developed in a jam session with the guitarist, where Angelina verbally explained and sang/hummed how she wanted the guitarist to play and he then improvised and she corrected him if and where he went outside her scope.

As a fan of Angelina Jordan who has listened to her every day for the last 8+ years, I, like all her other fans could not predict how her new EP of origional songs she put out this year would sound. She's 17 now and for the last 10 years of her career her consistent unpredictability has been addictive. For her EP she maintained a consistent sultry vocal character but rang the changes with different genre cocktails. Mixing Soul, R&B, Pop, Jazz even one line of lyrical rap. She makes songs that sound both fresh but also sounds like something that might be a current modern reworking of a vintage classic. Her vocal control has no companion but she is an artist. It is never about ego. She can out run anybody from her Jazz background but she epitomises elegance and taste. Instead of showing her vocal dexterity she pares down everything to present only that which is needed to deliver the emotion and the lyrics. So that on several songs like Elvis SUSPICIOUS MINDS or Jacksons BILLY JEAN it is the first time I understood the meaning of the songs.
Yep. Her musical understanding at this age is something that probably hasn't been seen since Mozart. Her emotional authenticity and enormous palette of techniques are shocking. She's my favorite singer of all time, for sure. This may be her signature song from her early career; there are several covers of it. Another of her favorites at that time was the Dinah Washington classic, What A Difference A Day Makes. Here's a version from Singapore TV when she was 9: th-cam.com/video/uWGb9lAO-vU/w-d-xo.html
I truly believe Angelina Jordan was given the gift of song to draw attention to her message of love and empathy. Today's world can use all the love we can provide. Enjoyable reaction.
This is just one of around a dozen different ways she has delivered this standard...and all of them are just sublime...no wonder QJ wanted her to sing it for him
You have discovered Angelina Jordan, most fondly known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices. You went into wonderful detail about her ability to change up her voice according to the song. She also changes it up based on the artist she is covering, if it is not one of her originals. 1,000 may be an exaggeration but it is clear for those who have followed her that she has countless different voices and styles, something I've never seen before. You're going to enjoy this journey.
I think reactors who are new to Angelina sometimes over-emphasize the maturity of her voice, but that’s just one part of what makes her so incredible. It’s not just the maturity you heard today, but the amazing vocal skills that Angelina effortlessly shows us. And, moreover, her ability to interpret lyrics is the best I’ve ever heard. She’s very young here, and those interpretative skills, as you saw in the two previous videos, can bring listeners to tears or joy the first, tenth, or hundredth time you listen to her. If you want to jump ahead a bit and see it all come together, watch Angelina at 15 in her cover of Adele’s Easy on Me. Angelina has more in her vocal toolkit than any singer I’ve ever heard, but she doesn’t flaunt those tools . Adele is an amazing songwriter and singer, but you may well prefer Angelina’s cover in this live performance. Watch what she can do: th-cam.com/video/Mpw5Q76hWWE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8bfqpJoSj_-ahUxA
Angelina Jordan, the Queen, at only 17 years old, is considered by many media outlets around the world to be a teenage prodigy since her voice has a color and soul available to very few artists. She recently released her new EP “Old Enough” with 7 extraordinary songs all co-written by her along with all the musical arrangements through the largest record label Republic Records Universal Music, (Ariana Grande, Anitta, Taylor Swift, Conan Gray, Colbie Caillat, Akon, Lil Wayne, Nelly, The Weeknd, Post Malone, Lorde, Drake, Mika, Nickelback, Weezer, Sofia Carso, Liam Payne, Zendaya and Julia Michaels, plus of distribution agreements with K-pop groups such as TXT, Twice, (G)I-DLE, etc.) as a top priority artist.
Great reaction to the Barefoot Princess wading in salt flats somewhere in California. I think her voice is just on the edge of emerging from its childlike style and becoming indistinguishable from that of a mature adult singer. Next you should try Feeling Good on the Gir Tilbake livestream, which is a live concert with full jazz band backing. From that point on her age is irrelevant, she's just this amazing singer with a voice like silk.
Beautiful reaction of this song, one of preferred from Angelina. I believe that her voice and her sensitivity allow her to create always surprising interpretations, no matter how ancient and iconic the song she chooses, always reaches and pampers our soul with her amplified and suspended breath, her so particular phrasing and the wonderful and very soft changes of tone. 💛🧡❤ The video, directed by grandmother Mery, appears to be filmed in the Death Valley area of California.
Here is a live version when she was 8 years old, about 9 months after winning "Norway's Got Talent" on the TV show 'The View'. It has over 37 million views. th-cam.com/video/nBGMQ9Kx9iI/w-d-xo.html
