I hope your first finals went well! I am 53 as well and researching law school and reading for the law ( WA State has this type of program available). One of my struggles is the cost of law school at this stage of my working life with how many years I have left to feasibly work (i.e. will it be worth the debt incurred?). What led you to decide it was worth it for you? Good luck to you and it is neat and exciting to see someone else my age who has taken this step!

@@sparta8792 I always wanted to go to Law School since I was in high school but life got in the way!!! After undergrad I got pregnant and after my daughter was born I found out she had Sickle Cell…no way I could be a single mother with a chronically ill child and go to law school so I put law school on the back burner until she grew up. Daughter grows up and off to college so I’m about to start studying for the LSAT and prepare law school applications…both my parents got sick and I had to caregive for them until they both passed away 3 years ago. When they got sick I had to scrap my plans to go to law school, at the time I thought it was for good because I felt I was too old at the time. After their passing my Daughter encouraged me to go for it, she paid for an LSAT book…my Uncle paid for an LSAT prep course as a bday gift. I took the LSAT and from there the rest is history…I will begin my 2L year in August 2022. I’m living proof it’s NEVER too late to follow your dreams👍🏾😊

Hello I am 37 years old in my first year of law school. This is a second career for me after doing 20 years in the Army and earning a PhD. You hit the nail on the head ma’am. I find it funny how the younger students freak out about some things and us older folks just watch them and say what’s wrong. Because of my second career I have to commute but that’s part of the sacrifice. I am a full time student also. As for careers I’ve narrowed it down to two for the reasons you mentioned M&A and criminal. Thanks for the video ma’am.

Hey! I'm 31 and studying for the LSAT right now. I have a Bachelor's in English already, but am working as a server and not in my career. I started undergrad late as well, and haven't had a ton of luck in my main field, editing. I was already considering changing my course and after the events of last year, started studying human and civil rights online. I had a broken hip at the time and couldn't go out to join the protests, so I wanted to learn as much as I could about the issues instead. The passion I feel for these things led me to thinking about being a lawyer, and here I am! I'd like to focus on human rights and public interest law when I eventually get to school. I love your videos; I feel like they're really preparing me for my new path! Thank you and keep up the good work

I went back to University at he age of 37. I am now 38 and my first semester and summer school both have been awesome. I love college! I am going to give the same advice as was given to me. Save up and pay cash for your college and do summer school, so you can graduate earlier. I took two classes over the summer and that is a total of six credits. I do not have a job, because school is a full time job. With me doing 18 credits/semester, I am up until 8-9 p.m. still doing homework. Don't burn yourself out. Take 18 credits each semester and rest on the weekends. For summer school you get 2 weeks of vacation after school lets out in May. Then you have summer school 5 days a week for 5 weeks. Then you get 4 days off. Then you take your second summer school class for 4 weeks. Then you get 2 weeks off, before fall semester starts. Good Luck!

I'm 38, applying for Fall 2022. I'm free as a bird in that I have no husband/partner, kids, or pets, so it feels nice to make this decision in consideration of only what's best for me. Hoping for a career as a federal prosecutor or something else in the government/non-profit arena. Navigating this admissions process has been the hardest part of the journey so far. My undergrad GPA from what seems like a hundred million years ago is not that great & all my references are from employers, so I'm concerned about the possibility of getting accepted if I don't do well on this exam. Retraining my brain/habits from worker to student in preparing for this LSAT has been the Devil. However, once somebody lets me in, it's game over. I plan to kick a** with my grades as you did starting with 1L!!

Hello! Just discovered your channel today, and absolutely love it!!! I just turned 27 in September, and will FINALLYYYYYYYY be finishing my associates degree in May, before transitioning to another school to wrap things up and get a bachelor's. I had my whole life planned out from age 5. Went to A VERY TOUGH private school from K-8th grade, then a STEM program in a public high school. I got all A's from K-12, minus one awful AP chem class. Only grade I ever had that wasn't an A. I worked so hard. But, life happens, and right before my junior year started, I got deathly ill and almost lost my life. My last two years of HS were hard, I was really touch and go for a while, but with alot of help and people bringing my work to the hospital, I still finished with all A's. College has been hard. Being constantly in and out of the hospital for so many years really put me so far behind the 8 ball, and where I wanted to be. I've wanted to just give up so many times. But I finally realized I was putting those time restraints on MYSELF. No one but me was telling me I should have already been out of school by now. I was comparing myself to everyone I went to high school with. Admittedly it's still hard sometimes to see that most people my age are finishing up law school or med school, married, some with children. But I have to keep reminding myself that they didn't have to experience the curveball that I did at such a young age. Watching these kind of videos and reading the comments, seeing that there are people even older than me who are just starting school or going back for a second career, really gives me hope. My goal is to finish my bachelor's and go to law school at the University of houston within the next two years. Thankfully, I'm much healthier now, but still have some chronic issues, and I know it won't be a walk in the park. So, Thank you for producing these videos that are so helpful and informative, and being so incredibly encouraging. I really needed this video today, I was really beating up on myself. Thank you for what you're doing. And shout out to all my other people in the comments that are starting law school later in life, too!!! We got this! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's going well. I am a part time student. I work full time in insurance and plan to stay in the company I work for practicing transactional law. I do think that "life" helps prepare you for law school. I also have a grad degree which I got in 2017 so I'm used to the work/school balance. To me law school is more time consuming than difficult. You have to be willing to sacrifice your social life. I have no one I'm responsible for so it's not hard for me. Overall if anyone is considering the non traditional route please make your own choice based on your unique situation but it's definitely something you can achieve if you want to!

I am probably going to apply this cycle or will hold off until next year to maximize the potential of getting a scholarship. I feel that some of the traditional students tend to drum up anxiety about the process of getting to law school. I'm at a point where I'm like "it is what it is - RELAX!" I am currently a 2L enrolled in an evening program at a law school in LA, which means I work a day job and attend classes three days a week after work. As an immigrant from China, English is not my primary language, making the program challenging but manageable. There are difficult moments, such as the last two weeks leading up to finals and deadlines for legal writing assignments. What I like about non-traditional programs is that I can work while attending classes at night, allowing me to pay for law school out of pocket instead of taking out student loans or asking my parents for money. (I received a scholarship that covers 55% of my tuition.) What I don't like about non-traditional programs is that you pretty much miss all the enjoyable aspects of law school. Since you have a day job, you probably won't have time for guest speakers, moot court, student organizations, and other activities that take place on campus, as most of these events occur during the day. Additionally, many prestigious law schools do not offer evening programs at all, so attending an evening program limits your choices. Also, I don't think I'll be able to work for all four years while attending classes, as we have to complete externships or gain experience credits. Just my personal opinion - if you have a choice, try to attend a traditional program.

I am T30 with not great grades, and I truly believe that my work-experience (I worked in corporate at the mid-senior level) got me over the hump for offers. I think 28-30 is the sweetspot of old enough to have had some senior management experience (I was a bit older than this for OCI), while not being so old you can't reasonably advance in the big law ladder.

Ok, I will be as brief as possible. I have entertained the notion of possibly going to law school. But here are the facts, I live here in Mississippi, where there are only two law schools - MC Law and Ole Miss Law. I have never considered going to law school before now. Here are some pertinent facts: my undergraduate GPA is 2.6 from Miss. State University. I have obtained three master's degrees since graduating from MSU. First, Master of Science in Management from Belhaven University. Second, an MBA from LSU at Shreveport. Third, a Master of Accountancy from the University of Scranton. Currently, I am enrolled in a WashU to earn a Master of Legal Studies in Regulatory Compliance. Yeah, I know that I am a glutton for punishment with all the schools I have been to. But, if anyone of you have ever been to Mississippi, you would recognize that there is nothing here except poverty and despair. I am 44 years old and married. I have never taken the LSAT. MY QUESTION IS: EVEN THOUGH MY UNDERGRADUATE GPA IS WEAK. STILL, WITH WILL ALL THESE MASTER'S DEGREES I HAVE EARNED HELP SHOW THE ADMISSIONS COUNCIL HOW HARD I WORK, OR DOES THE ADMISSISSION COUNCIL STRICTLY LOOK AT UNDERGRADUATE GPA?
