Studying for my ged at age 24 I’ll be graduating this year. I want to study law. History is very interesting to me. Also knowing my rights. Honestly I’ve had an amazing public defender, I’ve also seen people have not so great ones. I always wished someone could have the same experience as mine. It would be so rewarding to give some one the opportunity my lawyer gave me.

Greetings Sister First congrats on having successfully completing law school and becoming an attorney. I can most certainly say you will always be on-call, our minds run a million miles a minute, you almost have to be nuts to be in this profession or nuts about this profession. This is a legal company and we get tons of questions and requests from friends family co workers anyone who know what you are, who you are. We connect with attys across country and you are correct that school does not prepare you for every practice, some things you will need to learn etc, we handle estates, wills, business formations contracts, and will eventually move into family law and real estate, notary etc. I enjoyed your video thoroughly and thanks!

I would say first be sure that this is the path you want to go down. Also, not being afraid to lean on your support system. Prepare yourself and the people around you for this new journey. Take breaks, lean on your faith (if you're religious) and plan things out and be as organized as you can. Hope that helps. Believe in yourself! You've got this!

Like if you have any friends or co worker in different fields and have them give a brief input on how they find their field (including you❤) I know it's probably still quarentine, so maybe you can do an online meeting to ask the questions. I'm about to become a senior undergrad and law school is compelling but I'm worried it isn't for me (introverted and worried about work-life balance) and not worth the steep price tag to even apply.. I don't know if I should hustle now and get an application in to schools when I don't even know what kind of law I want to study, or just wait to apply and work to gain some life experience instead first. Would love to hear your insights on how you made the decision!!

Astrid Emyle hey! Thanks so much for watching! I can definitely make a video going into more detail about my experience and how I made my decisions. I think you can look into getting accepted and maybe deferring a year or two. Also maybe try some internships or summer jobs at a law firm. Even if not an intern you can get a glimpse into what it’s like to work at a law firm. Also there are many different avenues as a lawyer not just a traditional law firm job. Work life balance is definitely something i am still working on managing but i wouldn’t let being an introvert deter you! Thanks for the video topic idea, I will get on it! ☺️

If you have a friend who is a lawyer and want advice from that friend, offer something. Anything! Taking them out to lunch, offering some sort of service in return. One friend of mine offered to paint a picture of my cat if I helped her with a small legal issue. I appreciated it and we were both happy to be able to help the other.
There is liability with every question lawyers answers and I don't think people understand that either. The question that always makes me cringe and brace is: "Can I ask you a question?" I know that they're going to ask a legal question and then it puts me in this crappy position of having to either take the liability if I give a wrong answer (which often means I need to do research to make sure I'm giving the right answer) or I look like a jerk and say I don't offer legal advice outside of work.
So if you do have a friend who is a lawyer and want to ask a question, it goes a long way to offer a little something in return so that the friend doesn't feel taken advantage of. The only reason that friend has that answer is through years of hard work and stress.

if law schools don't teach you how to be a transactional lawyer, then where do you obtain the knowledge and skills to be one? And how do you jump into that industry without those skills?

I worked as a secretary formy first job a few years back and really loved the environment the firm offered, we focused on criminal law family law, conveyancing ect… It made me want to be a lawyer I moved on after that than a few months back I’ve been thinking about it again but I’m struggling on deciding.

Hey I love your channel. One of the biggest things I worry about is the work load. I have someone I love and I want to have life experiences. I'm afraid I'll be selling my soul if I become a lawyer. Do you have anything on work/life balance?

You mentioned at 6:00 that you have multiple cases simultaneously. As a lawyer do you get to choose how many cases you tackle to prevent feeling inundated? Not to mention, you get to focus solely on one client at a time to give them the best outcome with their case?

They want me to be always on call, BUT I be ignoring calls after work hours🤣🤣. I do transactional matters and cases and clients are the bane of my existence. We need them but, Whew! I totally agree on the anxiety. For me, being a lawyer is constantly asking why I chose to be a lawyer, but I already put so much resources and energy into it so...
