      @@CastanOpiu This isn't true. The standard tyranid fleets, maybe, but there are newer hive fleets that have evolved specifically for killing demons and being resistant to the warp-based plagues of the Deathguard. The main reason the Tyranids avoid fighting with chaos unless they have to is because demons dissipate and can't be eaten.

    To give you a good example as to why the Tyranid's don't like fighting the Necrons imagine this. You fight the Imperium, your swarm dies right? Gunned down. Cool, I have more, and also I can take the biomass of the dead swarm and repurpose it. Now, say I charge the Necrons. They fire anti-material rifles, not only killing, but destroying EVERYTHING. There's nothing left to recycle, I've just had a net loss of biomass; and that's not okay. Also, the enemy doesn't have a ton of useful biological material, they regenerate, and their weapons render any form of repurposing pointless. It's just not worth the effort and potential loss.

    Been playing the tabletop and mainlining 40k lore since 1994 so its fair to say I'm a bit of a Greybeard so I absolutely love it when people new to The Hobby(tm) discover all the cool stuff it has to offer. 40k is all about Rule of Cool and taking concepts, expanding them to the nth degree and then following the most absurdist interpretation of said concept to its ultimate conclusion. Is it incredibly impractical to clad an 8ft tall bloke in armour comparable to a modern MBT in effectiveness, strap a portable fusion reactor to his back, give him a fully automatic 19mm RPG (no for anyone who wants to correct me, the .998 Godywn pattern is _not_ the calibre, its the year it was introduced because Jes Goodwin made a bunch of new bolter sculpts in 1998) but then give them a preference for cutting up people with chainsaw swords? Why yes it is. Is it cool as fuck? Also yes.

    Regarding wars with other factions and their numbers: No faction comes even close in total numbers. The Orks might come close in individual battles over planets, but the Tyranids are coming into the galaxy from multiple angles - suggesting that they are coming from different galaxies entirely. Which means their numbers are beyond counting. It's very likely that all the tyranids we've seen in the lore so far are the tip of the spear or a scouting party. The Orks were in a MASSIVE war with the Tyranids on Octarius - the tyranids eventually won and got one HELL of an upgrade. It's gonna be a huge problem in the lore for the other races.

    The theory that we're surrounded is a but flawed. The original hive fleets came from the Galactic East and the current swarm is in the Galactic West, but it actually came from Below the galaxy not from the left. That does mean that they cover a huge arc of the spatial sphere of our galaxy, but we don't have any evidence of being fully surrounded yet.

  • @Chaotic42Kami
    @Chaotic42Kami 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    See, Necron ships and most armored vehicles are extremely advanced and powerful. However, because they are so advanced, they don't handle the equivalent of monkeys throwing wrenches and stones at them really well.
    This means that while they can handle, for example, Plasma or Laser shots rather well, they don't really handle Bolter or Missiles as well.
    This has reasons in the Lore. Necron vessels are made to fight the God-weapons and Energy weapons of the Old Ones, not solid projectiles fired at, relatively, low velocities.
    Now, Necrons vs Nids doesn't happen often, mostly because the Nids avoid the Necrons whenever possible. They don't fear the Necrons, but it's because, for the Nids, fighting the Necrons is a net loss, no matter if they achieve victory and erradicate them. Because the Nids usually recycle their own dead in order to regain that biomass, fighting the de-atomizer weapons of the Necrons, which destroys that biomass at the atomic level, means that they can't do that. And the Necrons themselves provide no sustenance to replace the lost biomass.
    And, if we go by numbers, the only faction even close to the Nids are the Orks. And the Orks love fighting Nids.

    Necrons are strong whenever they’re awake. That’s probably their one draw back lore wise. Would’ve ruled the whole galaxy if I wasn’t so sleepy. Tau look promising also I mean they evolved the quickest, and out of nowhere like they don’t even have lore as to how the Tau got so technologically advanced so quickly. The elves are dead so nobody worried about them. But Nids let me tell you if they were any bit faster there would be genocide on such a scale it wouldn’t be funny. A Nid invasion is a death sentence to everyone but the Necrons. Only because Necrons even on the table if your rolls are lucky enough are truly immortal.

    • @nemesisVtuber
      @nemesisVtuber 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I doubt Necrons would win even if they awake. They took very heavy losses during War In Heaven. And they cannot reproduce at all. So if a Tomb World get destroyed - it's irreplenishable loss.
      I actually think Nids are the worst enemy for Necrons. As it will be the war of attrition. In which Necrons cannot win. They far better dealing with impulse invasions.

    • @analogHyperdrive
      @analogHyperdrive 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Kind of, but in addition to the drawback of the Big Sleep, they also have three other major drawbacks:
      1. Many have been horribly damaged mentally by the great sleep, their minds decayed. In some cases, this means the death of the entire tomb world, but in others, it's stranger: The Empire of the Severed, for example, are a bunch of Necrons who've been rendered mindless and taken under the control of the local Tomb Mind, which has gone a bit wacko. And many nobles have developed strange defects, like Nemesor Zahndrekh believing that he and everyone else are still flesh. These defects can range from "no problem" to "We cannot function".
      2. Necrons are petty af. A big part of the reason for the war on the Old Ones was to give them a common foe to unite against, but naturally, Necron dynasties spend a lot of their resources fighting each other. Even at the higest levels, you have the Silent King Szarekh at odds with Imotekh the Stormlord.
      3. Necrons simply can't reproduce. Sure, they atrophy slowly, but any Necron that goes down for good, or succumbs to insanity, or is lost to the Flayer Virus or the Destroyer Cults, is one less sane Necron in the galaxy, forever. The Eldar are often called a dying race, but the Necron are a dead race. That said, I don't know why Cryptek Engramancers don't start copying and tweaking Necron engrams to bascially create new Necron minds, we know it's possible from the Twice Dead King.
      So yeah, four major flaws holding the Necrons back from steamrolling everyone with War In Heaven tech.

  • @herrzimm
    @herrzimm 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Actually, even the Necrons will fall to the Tyranids for 3 reasons.
    1) Sheer numbers overall.
    2) Since Necrons basically take food off the plate, the Tyranids will want them destroyed at all costs since they counter the main focus of the hive, which is to absorb biomass..... the one thing Necrons DO NOT have much of on their planets.
    3) Tyranids adaptation being far faster than any other faction means that at SOME point, they will adapt to the Necrons in order to overcome them.
    Obviously, all these factors depend on TIME.... so it isn't a question of "IF".... but a question of "WHEN", which is actually what makes Necrons so difficult, because in the current state of Warhammer 40K, the Necrons DO have enough time to put a hurting on Tyranids in general. But if it is 10 or 10k years, it doesn't matter to the Tyranids... they WILL overcome the Necrons, even if it means eating everyone else in the galaxy first.

    The whole theory of Tyranids surrounding the Milky Way galaxy doesn’t really make sense.
    From a military standpoint; you have the overwhelming numbers and that’s the only place remaining, secure it
    From an animalistic standpoint; animals are far more confident when in numbers, so if the Milky Way were truly surrounded by Tyranids there would be absolutely zero reason a force of incomprehensible size like that wouldn’t just move in and kill everything, especially when they have an established Hive Mind and could just as easily communicate “Yo these humans are putting up a pretty good fight we’ve adapted to lots of stuff but they keep staying ahead I think it’s time we just unleash everything on em”
    Obviously they wouldn’t verbally say that haha but that’s what would happen it wouldn’t make sense for the Hive to acknowledge their losses and continue to do so

It was the only thing to snap him out of his robot depression when he realized that the Tyranids were gonna devour everything and permanently make it to where the Necrons could never regain normal bodies again. He's been trying to unite the Necrons again, but so many of them are waking up with defects or fighting him for control that he can't really bring them to their old heights. Imotekh the Storm Lord has been fighting with him over leadership and kinda winning, so they got some things to figure out. Not to mention the problem with the flayed ones becoming more common and Chaos learning how to corrupt their code.
      If the Necrons ever come back to full power, it's curtains for all the other races.

    The Necrons are smaller in number, due to the majority of the Necrons still slumbering on worlds across the galaxy. Even in their smaller number, they're an extremely deadly group to face due to their superior weaponry.
    In battle the Tyranids do not have the ability to learn from their fight or ingest any genetic material to make them better at fighting Necrons. So it's a massive waste of their own forces and a major loss of genetic material, since they won't be able to take the planet or recover the fallen Tyriands. Necron weapons also can disintegrate enemies, making Necron weaponry very deadly and effective against Tyranids or other organic threats.
    The Orks are also surprisingly effective against the Tyranids, due to the way Orks spread and reproduce. It's extremely hard to eradicate Orks and their numbers swell quickly on a planet. So the Tyranids face a threat that can replenish forces and swarm the Tyranids in a green tide.

They avoid fighting the Necrons if possible. Most people don't realize that the Tyranids devour EVERYTHING, even minerals and metals, since they use them as building blocks for bioforms.

    For the record, the Zerg are very much inspired by 2nd edition Tyranids, oh and Tyranids came first, predating Starcraft by 8 years. The current design of Tyranids is that of the 3rd edition, introduced in 1999, which has over time improved and evolved into what we have now. 2nd edition nids were goofy, all various iterations on the Genestealer design, which came first and was inspired by the Alien franchise and 60s sci-fi monsters. But yeah, the Zerg are pretty much a rip off of 2nd Edition Tyranids, right down to their creep for buildings.
    While modern Tyranids lore, design and aspects all evolved from their 3rd edition depiction which is vastly different from the OG Alien inspiration, however all their designs look very much still alien inspired. Even though the Zerg ripped off the concept of 2nd edition, their design couldn't be more different; The Zerg are all beetle and bug like, while the Tyranids are all Xenomorph shaped.

      Tyranids are basically just Zerg but better in every way. Zerg are a galactic threat - Tyranids are a universal (maybe multiversal?) threat. While the Zerg have a sort of hive mind directed by the Queen of Blades, the Tyranids are essentially all part of one giant organism. The Zerg fight for control of planets while the Tyranids devour galaxies at a time.

      Nah, I don't think it's that one sided. The Zergs can adapt almost instantaneously while the Tyranids need subsequent generations to adapt.

      @paimonisfood4986 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zebrion5793That's mainly due to how massive the 40k galaxy is compared to StarCraft in terms of lore and scope.

    • @zebrion5793
      @zebrion5793 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paimonisfood4986 the Tyranids can also spontaneously evolve on the spot with the more advanced bioforms. Norn queens also are able to nearly instantly adapt and produce swarms of whatever they need. The problem the Zerg has in comparison is just scope. The Tyranids have had a LOT more DNA to absorb and choose parts from. They've eaten at least one entire galaxy, probably multiple.

    Orks could probably stalemate the Nids, no? I'm fairly new to 40k but weren't they stalemated in the orctarius war until some dumbass imperial tried to take advantage?

    I know it sounds like heresy but what if the Orks, Nekrons and Imperium were to join forces, hear me out temporarily to combat the Tyranids and wipe them out. Then go back to fighting each other again?...

    • @zebrion5793
      @zebrion5793 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Necrons alone could win if they could get back to 100% power - but they won't. There always has to be a balance of power between the factions, because Games Workshop still has to sell plastic figures. I still remember the panic that happened when the Neurothrope attacked and destroyed most of one of the Aeldari craftworlds and everyone started ebaying their figures because they thought GW was gonna nerf them.

      if the Orks could simply join forces with themselves they'd dominate the Galaxy in short order
      There not only may very well be more Orks that Tyranids as it is, Orks reproduce faster and just get better at fighting the stronger their foe is. If they were ever able to stop infighting among themselves for any length of time, literally no other faction in 40K would stand a chance against that green tide
      underneath all the comic relief, Orks are probably more terrifying than the 'nids

    • @zebrion5793
      @zebrion5793 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@petriew2018 I don't think in their current form that the orks are capable of dominating the galaxy in the same way as the Tyranids. They would need to re-evolve back to their Krork forms. There are hints in the books that some of the bigger orks were close to becoming Krork-like beings. I'm gonna call it and say that Ghazgul Thraka will end up becoming a Krork. He's already enormous, just missing the intellect portion.
      The Orks also have their weird pskyer-like powers of collective belief. I'm not sure how that would interact with the tyranids specifically, since they passively suppress psychic activity.
      The only time we've seen the Orks vs Tyranids in any serious capacity is the war on Octarius, and the orks lost that after a pretty long fight. The problem is that Tyranids can learn from the orks and adapt to fight them specifically.

      @@petriew2018Well in the Octarius War the Tyranids just showed that they are able to handle Orks well. They have exploited the Orks weakness in that they are very rigid in hierarchy and if the lead Ork dies they just split into smaller factions. Tyranids on the other hand can remake their leader if they fall and even so they have multiple bioforms designed to take out leader figures which can give even Custodes a run for their money.

      Considering the possibility that the tyranid are a universal threat that exists beyond the Milky Way, that alliance would effectively have to exist forever. There's really no "wiping out" the tyranid, because even if they destroy every hive in the galaxy, more would eventually follow. Couple that with the fact that you'd have to convince 3 extremely different creatures into a long term alliance, which may be harder to accomplish than destroying the hives in the first place, and it's definitely "easier said than done."

      It wasn't really a "rip off" so much as there was a partnership originally to make Warhammer a Blizzard product, but negotiations fell apart before development really kicked in. However, they already had a base world outline, and some concept artwork made, so Blizzard used those to create Starcraft and Warcraft. Nobody really knows why it fell apart, just that Blizzard retained the rights to all the stuff that had been created before they parted ways. Not sure if GW got a payout to walk away or what. I think that it ended the best for GW, though, because it let them create a much darker and better universe.
