My first ride a few years ago let me down. I thought "that was it?" The more I rode it, the more I fell in love. As of now, it holds my #1 overall spot. I guarantee with more rides, you'll have a similar opinion.
Just rode this for the first time this past Saturday, my first ride ever was one of the last trains of the night too. Absolutely blew me away and is now my new #1 above Steel Vengeance.
For my first visit to HW, I also got only one ride on Voyage (long story). I really didn’t have a clear sense of the ride from that one lap. Later, I was able to return to HW, and I marathoned Voyage in several sessions, especially at the end of the night in the pitch dark. This is when the coaster became a clear 10 for me.
I’ve ridden this several times on the four visits I’ve had to this park. I must keep riding it with bad wheels. It always beat the crap out of me. Great layout, just rough(IMO). Excellent review as always!
I rode voyage for the first time this year as well and I loved it, fortunately something was wrong with the reservation system the day I went so they were just letting people into the lines and I got a lot of rides in. The ride is amazing but I really did not like the lap bar, mine always seemed to go down further and further and staple me even when I held it. I wish it had better lap bars, but this ride is still a work of art
I hope you're able to make it to HoliWood Nights at some point. That does enhance the experience. Plus, a next to last row ride is a must! That ride had me shouting "holy crap" during the entire return trip. That virtual queue system was an epic failure, and it made everything so much worse. I hope they ditch that.
I hope your coming to Holiwood nights, if you get a full train at night with no trims you’ll give it an 11 out of 10. When you get bruises on your thighs the airtime ain’t weak that’s for sure. Apparently i heard somewhere that without the trims 7 seconds is shaved off the ride and all that speed you feel in the second half, you won’t believe how fast it is.
This is my all time favorite rollercoaster. I honestly feel like you need several more rides on it. It’ll probably bump your score up. Thanks for the review!

When I rode it the first time I have to say I was a bit disappointed, but after ten more rides, some with trims some without, it became my number one. I highly encourage you to go to HoliWood Nights 2021 where you can get some more rides and experience it without the trims
Holiday World always retracks large sections of The Voyage every offseason, and I can't imagine the amount of money Holiday World spends on this ride. They've even had the Gravity Group reprofile some sections, including the beginning of the spaghetti bowl in 2012, as well as well as having them adjust the ledgers of the ride to make it as smooth as possible. I would say that The Voyage would be too rough at any other park, but Holiday World takes such good care of all their wood coasters.
u have to ride trimless at night in the back with a full train to get the best experience, which i got to do this year at holiwood nights (yes they actually let us have a full train), before riding voyage, i was one of the biggest voyage haters ever, calling it barely a top 100 coaster, and after my first ride, which was under similar conditions to urs, plus the coaster hadnt ran in a week, the ride still disappointed even with those rly low expectations, but as i got rides under better conditions, the ride kept growing on me and getting better, if all i had was my first ride, this coaster would be ranked 17/129 credits for me, now with those rly good rides, its 8/129 and its not that far from some of the coaster ahead of it, voyage is inconsistent and u just gotta go to holiwood nights and get the best possible rides on it

If you're wondering if I've ridden The Voyage: the answer is no. But it's on my bucket list even if I have ridden Steel Vengeance ten times; once in row 7 once in row 9 and the rest in rows 11 or 12.
I agree that this coaster is overrated but it's still very good. Riding in the front is smooth but it's quite rough in the back. I also agree that the airtime is a bit disappointing. There's a lot of it but it isn't necessarily world class quality. That said, I've never ridden it without trims so I can imagine that the triple down would be quite excellent at Holiwood Nights.
@@bunja9101 I'm not as big of an El Toro guy as most people, but even I say that El Toro slaughters Fury, not even close! With the stupid amount of hype surrounding Fury, prepare for disappointment.

Is Lightning Rod at Dollywood still considered a wooden roller coaster? Because if it isn't, then this is easily my favorite wooden roller caster anywhere. But if it is, then it's a toss up.
Sorry you had this much of an underwhelming performance from a ride I put right next to El Toro. when the train is full you'd feel every bit of that airtime

The same thing happened to me in 2020 with the virtual queue seeming completely off! I was only able to get 2 rides in over a 5 hour span! 😜
My favorite woodie is Lightning Rod, but this is a fairly close second! And yes I prefer this coaster to El Toro!

The legend does need a lot more work

@Liam Borg No. Steel vengeance is my 7th favorite coaster, and I have yet to ride fury 325, but I doubt it will be better than el toro and voyage

I haven't been on Voyage but have ridden plenty of PTC trains. So you think this ride would be better with GG Timberliners instead of the PTC's?
Possibly, but I hear those trains were too slow and caused the ride to valley
