Fahrenheit Review - Hersheypark (Hershey, Pennsylvania) Intamin Amusement Rides

  • It was 2008, and vertical lift roller coasters were still relatively uncommon in the United States. Gerstlauer was starting to heat things up with their Eurofighter models. European parks were starting to build these attractions at a rapid pace, while the US was only dipping their toes in the water with Mystery Mine and SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge. Well, along comes ‪@intaminofficial‬ . Spotting the potential with these smaller, compact inversion filled coasters, they decide to construct Fahrenheit, their first and only vertical lift roller coaster.

    Agree with everything you’ve talked about here. What struck me the most on the ride were the headchoppers tho, particularly with the supports during the corkscrews, and the ridiculous one under the break run with the airtime hill. For sure caught me off guard

    I thought at first that this might be my favorite in the park, as it impressed me a lot, while Skyrush's rattle bothered me, but in the end, I did like Skyrush a little more. And without being able to ride Storm Runner, Fahrenheit is solidly in 2nd place for me. If there was any rattle on my rides, it didn't bother me at all. I love the mix of hangtime, inversions, and 2 great airtime moments. Crowds were light when I was there, and I actually rode this more than anything else. That Norwegian Loop is kind of like a pretzel loop on a flyer, just on a sit-down train, and getting flipped into it and flipped out of it.

    Fahrenheit has one of, if not the best ops crew at Hershey. It may not hit 850 and hour but I would say it's close. They constantly send trains like pros. The small trains do effect the line. But the line is always moving. It's one of the most popular coasters there by the GP and the fact that its beside the entrance of the waterpark keeps this line long. Great review! Just wanted to throw this out there cause I'm there every week. It's also the best coaster to get footage of lol. It's so easy to get many angles and trains are constantly going through the layout

    You really hit the nail on the head with this review, awesome video! Fahrenheit is a solid ride! Hersheypark being my homepark, I slept on this ride until this year. I wish Intamin had stuck with this model, it would’ve been a great way to expand their market to smaller parks looking to provide a premium experience for their guests. Nowadays there’s definitely more saturation in the compact coaster market with Gerstlauer, Premier, and now RMC, so I doubt they’ve got the motivation to reintroduce this model, especially considering their recent success with the much bigger and more profitable multilaunch coasters. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @ChristiantheCoasterGuy
    @ChristiantheCoasterGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    yeah, 850 riders per hour would require to send 71 full trains in an hour. Getting 40 trains out is possible with perfect dispatches which is only 480 riders per hour. You are right, 850 is way too optimistic.

    I'm sure the people you talked about would disagree with me on this as I prefer Comet to Farenheight. That's not to say it's bad but it didn't do much for me and a buzbar airtime packed woodie beats standard looping coasters for me. However I am dpeaking from the perspective of having ridden it on a school trip many years ago where the purpose of the trip had nothing to do with coasters and I just happened to be an enthusiast in the group. Farenheight was the clear GP favourite. It's not the longest I've ever waited for a coaster (that would be the 6+ hrs I waited for Steel Vengence opening weekend) but it's definately in the top 3. And it was by far the most undeserving of the line (2 being Maverick on my first visit to CP, and I already discussed the longest I've waited)

    • @HiCaballo
      @HiCaballo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On a rainy day Comet is the least fun woodie in the park. It’s much older but the two GCI’s in the park do much better maintaining speed despite a soggy track. I think that’s why I wasn’t getting much airtime, but I’m also starting to the think the buzz bars are there because more security just isn’t necessary.

    • @urbex_coasters
      @urbex_coasters 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HiCaballo Somehow I was getting standing airtime when I last rode it in May 2015 after a rainstorm. I'm seriously tempted to put Comet in the park's top 3 as of when I was last there (probably top 4 when I go in a few weeks for Candymonium, I absolutely love any type of airtime you can give me). I wish Comet was open for Candylane instead of Wildcat so I could see it it's as good as I remember it being. If Skyliner, which I rode earlier this year, a similar buzbar woodie that was originally put where it currently is to compete with Comet (Seriously, look up the failed Boyertown USA) than it probably is as good as I remember.

    I went on it last month. It's a great ride and it's in my top 25 (I have 75 credits) It's in the Hershey top 5 but Candymonium, Skyrush, and Storm Runner are easily better than this. I didn't notice that much of a rattle on the cobra roll, I thought it was ok. I never did it with the hard over the shoulder restraints so I have never gotten any headbanging during this ride.

    My thoughts:
    Had high expectations for this ride, but I didn’t really like that much at all. The drop and the airtime hill before the brake run were really good, but the ride had such a bad rattle for me, even in the front row. I had a smoother ride on wicked twister, that’s how shaky fahrenheit was. I wasn’t impressed with the layout or any of the inversions tbh

      Literally every ride at Hershey (except Fahrenheit, storm runner, skyrush, great bear, and candymonium) are all family friendly. Except maybe sidewinder. Lightning racer is family friendly, but forceless (and it barely ever not racing so that’s why it’s so good), wildcat is rough but family friendly, sooperdooperlooper isn’t a major thrill coaster and is a great first looping coaster. Great beat is pretty forceful but not with the stomach dropping feeling type thing, but rather high gs at points. Storm runner, skyrush, and Fahrenheit all have big steep drops, so I wouldn’t recommend them for u. Basically Hershey if geared more towards families on most of their rides, but some are very intense, mainly the intamins.
