- Tarisland is a new open world free to play mmorpg has now announced their final last beta on march 18th in China. There is also new features coming soon to the game such as guild vs guild pvp content, open world pvp. In todays video I am going through the new tarisland pay to win dev update regarding their monetization model and economy.

I will wait for the release. It's disappointing, but i expected it. I think that after release, they will slowly try to introduce P2W to the game more and more once we will be higher levels to make it harder for us to leave the game since we will have already invested many hours in the game. This is speculation of course but i feel like they will probably do that.
If the system would work only ONE WAY.
So that means players would be only able to purchase crystals for gold (getting rid of excess ammount of gold in the game)
Instead of working it both ways (spend money -> get gold). It could actually work out, as good system.
Altough they have not mentioned that it will not work both ways - which we should stay sceptical about this one
Games like Guild Wars 2 and Lost Ark use this system. You can buy gold with paid-only crystals (Acromatic Crystals) and you can obtain REGULAR crystals by selling gold. Regular crystals can buy battlepasses, cosmetics and benefits card. Paid Crystals allow you to buy gold directly, gift other people items from the store or gift gold via the elf messenger bag.
thanks spid for being honest to the player community and not like other streamers who only like to HYPE mmo’s that they like to cover sponsored or not and then whenever the game drops down or become dead they will stop covering/streaming and move on to the next new hot released mmo and start hyping again IS IT NOT A CYCLE ALREADY?? and please dont say its not paytowin DURING EARLY OR MIDGAME only newbie mmo players only believe that. exactly same system as in guild wars 2/albion online take a look on this, its like farming gold, chaging into gems,then use "gems" to buy accesories or costumes , another way you can buy gems with real money and then swap gems into gold(legally by game system) and use them in the game. guild wars 2 got same system, honestly i dont think is a bad pay to win, my opinion is just a simple pay to progress faster. albion online project got same thing, but those games didnt die because of it ,they doing very good today.

You're right. They were trying to say that the paid crystal currency can be bought with gold. They never said you may use the crystals to buy gold in the trade center, only to buy cosmetics. At least, that's what I'm seeing in their video.
i think you can buy gold with crystal but its not gonna end the game by dead trust me, guild wars 2 got the same exactly, the same system and look how bad ass populated guild wars 2 is.

This game died before it will be released. When CBT2 came out and they did all the lies. I lost confidence on this game. I was right, they will keep pushing P2W models to juice the players. Oh well.

i tried playing dragon nest 2 evo on mobile there"s a thing called red moon and you can actually get some materials in there that you can sell through specific trade center and the currency you get form there which is violet crystal can purchase battle pass instead of blue crystal that you can get by spending money if im not wrong maybe they want to do that also there"s a new currency in the game or they follow dragon nest mobile that you can actually exchange 1 currency into another lol i like it a little bit cuz i wont spending money anymore to buy battle pass just need to grind/farm to get gold and buy crystal and buy bp but just a little bit cuz others will abuse it
the point is "Free to play" -- don't mix it up with "Pay to Win" that is a whole different thing // player can PAY TO WIN, at the same time, A PLAYER CAN PLAY FREE; WITHOUT TOP UPS -- CAN BUY THINGS WHAT PAY TO WIN CAN BUY.
alsoooo, there's a huge limitation for PAY TO WIN players. their claims is FREE TO PLAY, and it is on point.
ALSO THEY HAVE TO GENERATE MONEY, FOR GODSAKE. they can't run the game properly without generating revenue.
They make it like ragnarog generation sell item and earn crystal and crystal can buy diamon use to buy battle pass or any item
This is quite fair for a mmo honestly if you compare it to most mmos nowadays. Tarisland isnt even that grindy as well.
of course early game will start with less DAILIES with less to do then later on they will add content and add again as part of their updates. they even change or modify player stats for balancing right, so everything can change along the road. even item shops change from early to mid and end game to correspond to players needed materials for upgrades. its not even released yet and u say its less grindy lol

WoW is definitely not pay2win. You can make gold with the WoW token, but there is nothing in the auction house that can make you end game/pvp ready.

how about this tarisland. Monetize cosmetics mainly to unlock sliders restriction and premiums yes >,>, gears that are equally as strong as freely but rarely dropped, capacity for storage and perhaps player shop is alright, and ads. Ads can be set non intrusively for free players. I think game time purchase is alright, but middle ground is how about hourly counted for hours played instead of hours that will still tick despite us offline

Monthly sub fee has been and always been the best monetisation model, if people can't afford the monthly fee then there drops kicks.
that will be my next mmo im open with monthly sub with “less” pay to win, less level cap, less too much crazy grinds specially for casual players with full time jobs.

I'd make it pay to play, straight up .. $10 (or, even $20) in the app store with in-game cosmetic purchases .. I'm sure that anyone who knows of this game wouldn't have a problem with that

Think about how much money people have justified spending on a game like pokemon Go. If the game is worth the players time… they would gladly pay to have the edge. A billion dollars a year in transactions alone for that game…

I disagree with your interpretation of their video.
You're able to use in-game currency to buy cosmetics/character trinkets and battlepasses. So money can be siphoned "out" of the economy, but can't be placed "in" the economy. You can't use real money to buy in-game equipment/powerful stuff, but you can use in-game currency to buy cosmetics and stuff. The gold you get from selling stuff on the Auction House can be used to buy cosmetics, battlepasses, and trinkets.
Crystals can't be converted into in-game currency.
That sounds totally fine to me - this isn't pay to win like you mentioned. The ONLY way to earn gold coins (that you convert into silver) is via in-game activities like crafting, PVE/PVP, and drops. You can't convert crystals into Gold or Silver.
To buy crystals to trade center means that someone has to sell those crystals so yes you will be able to sell crystals for gold, then send gold to people through elf messenger bag to use gold in trading house for equipment, gems etc.

It looks to me like the video is trying to say that paid crystal currency can only be used to buy cosmetic items and passes. It's pretty clear.
Your information of the Elf Messenger bag is outdated. The bag is purchase only now. It literally costs more money to transfer gold via the bag than it does to buy it outright now. The bag was removed during CBT due to us arguing the ease of bots to streamline the sales process. Apparently this is their solution.

I knew a guy that never spent a cent on OaC and was still good enough to do anything you needed him to do in the game for years. That’s the only way. P2w is always a losers game no matter how much you spend.
For people crying about P2W, let me ask you this. Would you pay a monthly subscription instead of playing for free and other people doing P2W?
Well, you cant expect the maintenance and people that work on this game to live and upkeep the game for gratitude and thanks only... No succesful mmo ever wasnt atleast slightly p2w, money is always the main point of making games.

Let's not joke ourselves, every MMO has pay 2win, only difference is is it in-game shop or you gotta buy gold from online sites.
Even WoW is pay2win. You can buy raid and mythic runs from players to advance way faster than a regular player,especially the one who doesn't have a guild or premade group.
Wow is worst in that aspect,casual player is locked out from content if he needs to do content with pugs only.
