Tarisland 2nd beta is now out, however they have introduced some pay2win mechanics. Remember things can change until launch, lets give feedback and make sure they keep their promise of no pay2win! Will update you when we know more!

The real question is, can it be played as F2P? i mean is the obstacles are unfairly hard that without paying you are doomed? if not, next question, removing monetization from the equation, is the game fun? asking as mechanical, systematic wise, No. of defects...etc, is it fun and not buggy?
if all these checks out, then why don't we play it until we hit the wall of P2P aka PVP and etc...
I played the CBT2 until level 20, then I saw the BP and Top up options. With how it can be turned into gold, makes it P2W. Oh well, I'm sad that the game went to this direction. I was so excited the promise of "No P2W" and was ready to sink my money for cosmetics.
Me too man. I was ready to ham with cosmetics. Like PoE does, f2p and only cosmetics. Some quality of life purchase stuff, but nothing crazy game breaking. This is honestly heartbreaking. They promised no p2w and this was their whole spiel

Comparison to a game wiith A LOT less players than it used to before they put P2W mechanics in the shop came about is the example you should be looking at. Yes the game didn't die. But can you still consider WoW a "Great" game in 2023? I don't think so.
@@titogeesoon How far you can "pay to win" in a mmorpg? Same as WoW, you can only use gold to pay for petty stuff, low-end gears. You still need to play the game to get the powerful gears same as Tarisland. Even in WoW, people don't need to buy gold with real money because you can get tonnes of them just by playing the game. That's why people don't bat an eye to anybody who buys the gold from the shop because that's a dumb thing to do.

Great video Spid! I agree with you 100% and I think if they keep this item the game the simplest soulution would be to make it bind on purchase as all items in a cash shop sould be.
Yeah I can see how things can get out of control real fast with this. Like you mentioned we are still in the beta so there’s hope that some things change. However, I will say this most mmos/open world games offer a battle pass/season pass, some of them monthly or every 60-90 days. We know that the “rewards” from these passes are cosmetics, rare items usually for crafting gear, buffs for exp boost, some form of extra bag or storage space and so on. These things aren’t bad as long as the price isn’t outrageous, the exp boost is usually something that caps between at 20-30% so it’s not out of this world. The beauty of this is that you don’t have to buy them it’s optional so there’s that. I get that there are some players that will abuse/take advantage of the p2w system but if you enjoy the game you can get the rare items it’s just going to take a bit longer. Not sure if things will change for the crafting but I suggest if you don’t want to spend extra money on the game to focus on building 1 character strictly for crafting. It may be tedious and boring but this will help you in the long run specially in the end game. You could even make some coin crafting items for other players lol, you can do the crafting as long as they provide the materials or make lots of coin if you happen to have all materials lol. Point is, crafting will be a big part of the game so don’t ignore it.
So the Recharge Announcement at login states that the total top-up amount (including top-up/CBT privilege card direct purchase) will be rebated as Crystals at 100% ratio at launch. Doesn't this imply the CBT card is only for closed beta and will not be there on launch? Otherwise, wouldn't they just allow the CBT Card to be activated on the account on launch?

I'd rather pay an upfront sub fee (monthly, annually, etc) or spend money on the battle pass instead of being misled. I get the devs and board of directors need to make money but there has to be a more "fair" way to implement this. Hope this doesn't turn into anorher Diablo Immortal situation.
Really appreciate you making this video and explaining all this. I don't have a problem with games doing pay-2-win stuff, I just refuse to play them. But what really pisses me off is when a Dev treats gamers like we're stupid and try to hide things and lie to us. If this is indeed going to be in game at launch and not just a Closed Beta thing, then I will be sad and steer clear. Ever since I heard about this game I've been really hyped, but this is definitely a deal breaker for me.

What they should/could do is make it such that you can reverse the transaction (silver -> gold -> crystal)

If they cannot keep their promises before the game comes out after saying that there will be no p2w with such a precise language, this game will be completely filled with p2w content within the first 3 months. Even if they fix it, we have now seen that their intentions are corrupt and their promises are completely insincere, and nothing else matters anymore.
Saw you calling this out in the Discord yesterday, wanted to commend you for covering this and talking about it here. I think the more noise we make the better chance we have of them changing it!

If they were to add any kinda of p2w, I wish they would just adapt a dungeon style like oac had. Energy tablets to reset dungeon counts, low drop chances on unique gear pieces. It was cheap, didn't break the game because it still required you to grind, and it was still rng at the end of the day.

There's over 1million players of WoW daily and they pay 13 dollars per month for subscription and here you are complaining about their monetization. Game developers needs money in order to continue with their game and developments!

Wow is not p2w. Wow is p2p (pay to play). That's 2 different things. 1: everybody pays to play the same content, grind, and mechanics, 2: paying users get huge boost by paying cash and ruining in game economy.
The game is not just P2W its really expensive P2W, because there are so many passes with bonus EXP and Battlepass stuff + the battle pass is around 35 USD in my country which is insane, because usually they are around 5-20 USD.
Yep, i was really sad seeing the Price in Germany. 31,99€... Thats insane. I wanted to buy the Pass but not for this price.

I honestly believe that p2w doesn't matter anymore if everyone is selling boosts, gold, tier skips, etc in-game stores.
The elf messenger is just making it easier, even without the elf messenger , people can still sell golds through the auction house😂. Idk why people never said anything about that during CBT1
another perspective: f2p players can buy the CBT benefits card through gold, instead of using real money.
tbh whatever the devs do, whales will still end up having large amounts of gold because there will be gold sellers no matter what. at least in this game there is no straight up money gacha that will make your character stronger.

@@isca10 this is not 2000's anymore where majority of the players have lots of time to grind. Time = money, if you have time to grind good for you. If not atleast you have another option.
Without advantage of $$$ the game will then cater to those who have more hours to spend playing. Is that fair? For someone who have a typical 9-5? Then there should also be a cap in progression like a 4-5 hours max playtime per day.
They've already released a statement. At least they now know that they have a different perspective about monetization. It's still in beta so lets just hope for the best.

Hello, didn't try the game yet but as far as I know p2w is when you have access to item as p2w that f2p can't gain, as someone who pay money in game you have to gain something in return don't think only costumes will keep those who pay spending , I think more gold is fine as long as there is no special shops or events for only paying players to get special items that give power advantage

Cosmetics/mounts/storage expansion/pets(even better if you can load them down with unwanted loot to sell in town while you continue exploring)/etc. THESE are things I'm ok with. Anything that can be used to buy the best gear/progression/etc is NOT ok and I won't be playing the game if any of that BS makes it into the official game release 🤦♀️

Tencent is making the game, so it's not surprising there is p2w elements. At the end of the day it's still a chinese mobile mmorpg with all the usual asian mmorpg elements just without any autoplay.

We just need to chill, it could be just a CBT thing. and if not we suggest they put a limit on how many Benefit Card you can buy so its controlled. Understand they still have to make money to keep the game going.
The elf transfer requires 10k minimum and i believe 10k is huge sum, if people making alt and keep selling vigor for golds, the marketprice for stuff will just go to rock bottom and it will take much more longer time to accumulate 10k gold. Oh well the easy solve to this outrage is they could just make the benefit card bound and not sellable and also remove the elf messenger and its all good
@@rks453210k gold is not hard to obtain. I've been casually on and off this game since CBT2 began yesterday and have almost 4k gold. Higher skills and end game content will like this even easier.

Thanks Spid, I appreciate your dedication and support for a fair gaming community. I support Tarisland as well as f2p and think it can be successful that way. It's a great game, I just hope it's just for the closed beta and not going into the official launch ever.

Anyone who thought there was not going to be pay to win is on copium.
- This is just their equivalent of wow tokens or runescape bonds. Or "cash shop" items that can be sold on the market place type system.
- Funny they kept emphasizing not pay to win, how did people expect them to be profitable? A game backed by tencent no less.
- They know full well what they are doing putting this in a closed beta and opening purchases no less. They will just try to justify their definition of "P2W".
Not to also mention its a ripped IP and like history shows of stealing IP they get taken down or dont expand to northern markets which then lose revenue and make separate versions for each region to avoid legal issues dividing the playerbase even more. Its a pump and dump be wary of spending money as they will not refund anything like other companies
Well they will progress faster because they have access to gold easier, but if you play for a long term you will be able to catch up to the whales, I think its only pay2win if you really dont have a way to achieve their gears and stats unless you spend... But if you play for long term craft your own gears and hunt them well its still a fair play

P2w is the blueprint and gacha is the end result when live content arrives you better believe a form gacha gambling will more than likely be a thing and switch to advertise it like everyother predatory mobile gacha game

Well, let's be honest here, it all depends if endgame raid gear will be tradeable or not (Bind on Pickup or Bind on Equip).
Seriously, if not, it is literally like WoW... I mean, in WoW you can literally buy the boost to near level cap (I believe nowadays you can buy a boost directly to level cap), and you can also direct convert real money for gold with WoW token, and buy everything. Why it is not such a problem in WoW? Well, as I said, Raid gear and M+ gear in WoW are not tradeable, so the gear that actually matters for endgame will only be acquired if you do the content (you can buy carries tho, LOL). The gear that people sell on AH (in WoW) is either crafted gear or BoEs, and these are not as powerful as the mythic RAID gear and high M+ keys gear (very hard to get, require skilled players).
I'm not trying to defend Tarisland, I understand the concern. But we need to be fair. If endgame loot is not tradeable it's like WoW but a bit better IMO (since there is no boost to max level in Tarisland as far as I know. Just XP boost as usual), it is really not such a concern, since there is no RNG progression like BDO/Lost Ark with "gold for enhancement". It's a free to play game folks (remember, not only WoW requires you to buy the game, there is also a subscription). Seriously people, let's try to be reasonable.
Now IF endgame gear in Tarisland is tradeable, if so yes the game will be totally P2W.
i am not a wow fanboy and i don't even play it...but i know a lots about it and its lore....this game "Tarisland" and i name it "trashland"will never take the place of wow even in china and will fail...just because almost any free to play mmo have pay to win...do any of you remember Allods online?and how many said that this game "allods" is the wow killer? well we all know what happened to Allods and how the game got forgotten in the annal of history and failed ..while wow is still going strong...thanks for pointing this p2w aspect about Tarisland in this video...greatly appreciated.
I am a tester. This game was advertised as "WoW Killer". After days of playing I see that this is very very far from WoW in many aspects.

Questions :
1. Won’t you only get the gold by selling the CBT card when someone bought it? meaning you will not immediately get the gold. Someone need to buy your card in trade house, using his/her gold.
2. Assuming you receive the gold immediately after puting it in the trade house, what to buy if no one selling it yet? in this case, crafted high end gear. if no one selling it yet, you cant buy the gear even with infinite amount of gold you have.

Man, being a longtime WoW player I was really hoping this game would end up being a bright spot in an otherwise dark era for MMO games in general. I just don't really care for FFXIV and Tarisland was about the only game that caught my attention, and now it seems it's going to be just another lootbox casino. I just can't stomach this garbage.
Really hope they change their mind on this p2w nonsense, I was invited to the 2nd beta but I don't even wanna bother if this is going to end up being something we are all stuck with.
so i have only seen 2 p2w things, 1 battle pass and 2 benefit card, there is nothing else after that you can buy shards and use them in the shop (as the most games out there) P.S. they can do a simple thing, remove the possibility of selling the benefit card, and they leave the benefit card and battle pass in the game to make some money, without the chance for whales to have tons of golds

This level of "p2w" is nothing compared to what they do in other games.
At least this way, the beaters actually get to be stronger first, because the spenders only get to buy what they sell.
