Hello, Mary Brooklyn, NY! I hope all is well. I heard you guys got hit hard by covid19. Please be safe. I made a new friend who just moved to Hawaii from New York a couple weeks ago. She lost a few friends from that disease. I can't tell you what to do, but it's been on my mind for a while now. If I suspect being positive for covid19, I will call the doctor and get tested for the whole Respiratory Profile. Then when I get home, I won't just wait around, I will take hot baths, as hot as I can stand - making sure that I am hydrated. I've been eating more fresh garlic with my food and trying to get more sunlight for my immune system. the shelves are empty of Vitamin D. During the Spanish Flu of 1918 (before antibiotics) the medical focus was prevention, so MDs would perform 'hydrotherapy" or "Hydrothermal Therapy" where the patient would be placed in a hot bath for as long as he can tolerate, three times a day. Another treatment was infecting the patient with Malaria to get a high fever, then giving the malaria medicine to cure the malaria. My information come from MedCram.com. It's a site where doctors train to get their CEUs (Continued Education Units) The doctor has made the videos on Covid19 free. It's a reputable site. Do not get your covid19 information form mainstream media - they are too political. I'm hoping my plants make my indoor air healthier for the family. Peace lilies are one of the best air purifiers. Hello, Janine, I am sorry it had taking me this long to get to your comment. This past month had been very difficult, but I'm back with my therapy - Plant are my Therapy. I hope you are doing well and having a good day. I will soon be able to repot my peace lilies. I have been lucky that with all of life's distractions, the peace lilies, as well as much of my other plants, are thriving... not necessarily due to my skills, for I had missed a few waterings. I also forgot half of my house plants in the direct sun after watering them on the patio. I hope I can find the time to make a few new videos soon :) Your friend, Gerald:)

Interesting way of preparing the earth for potting, : ) when i did my mixes of potting soil, i used water absorvernt rocks on the bothom, added any rich mineral rocks for the plant roots ^^ that i could find,then hadded a layer of hard soil, after that layer i added a layer of leaf's, always in a mix, because it also absorves water and supplies nurishment as it decays, the next layers i used oak bark that standard soil ^^ you can buy in any gardening store... i dont know why but some plants like sand : )... Great share, for me knew knoledge and alot of nostalgia aswell ^^, like 230, full view,

Wow how are you it's been a while! One of the elders asked me how to repot his dads plant! He received a beautiful peace Lilly! This was given at the death of his father. As a new plant owner should he try to use the orchard bark and Cedar Ash which I don't find here! Thank you.
Hello, Denice It's been a rough couple of months. I hope you've been well. Forget the orchid bark for now. These times are getting ... hard. Inflations is surely coming, so let's be thrifty. I would decrease my soil recipe to two parts potting soil and one part Perlite. If you can't get Perlite, just make due with just potting soil. Peace Lilies are hardy plants. I am so glad to have found your video's... 80) Firstly, bcuz my Peace Lily is in desparate need of therapy/repotting and secondly, I SUCK when it comes to gardening. I'm really afraid my Peace Lily is dying, there are a few leaves that have turned yellow. I've had it for 4 years and never attempted to re-pot for fear of doing more harm than good. But now, if there is any chance that I can save it, I know I will need to attempt to re-pot it. Any suggestion/tips for a challenged 'green thump' would be appreciated. Thanx much...
It's scary to repot a plant. I know the feeling. You love the plant, and it's doing well, so you don't want to disturb it, but the day eventually comes. This is what I would do: Buy a pot one size bigger, but if the plant is very root-bound, you may want to buy a pot two sizes bigger. Untangle the roots as best and a gently as possible, then pot it. potting soil and perlite (2:1 ratio), gravel on the bottom. water generously let plant rest in bright indirect light. couple weeks later, fertilize with "fish fertilizer" = this feeds the soil which breaks down compost for the plant to absorb couple weeks later, fertilize with 16*16*16/ chemical fertilizer - well below the recommended dose. I'd use about a hlaf a teaspoon of the grannual fertilizer or quarter strength liguid fertilizer. Once I see new growth, I put it back in the house, but I have low light in my house, this could stress the "post-operative" plant. That's why I place recovering plants in special area. If your house has adequate light, you don't need to do that. water when dry

Agreed, and it's getting harder and harder to get. The kids are getting older and want to do their own thing, and I wouldn't mind if their own thing wasn't just laying on the couch playing on their iPads or iPhones... in retrospect, I don't think I should have bought them those devices.
Where do you get your neem oil from? Is it pure neem oil? Stores near me only carry neem oil extract that has fungicide, etc in it? Do you purchase it online? If so, what is the brand?

Hello! I was gifted a young peace lily plant, then left it at home near a sunny window for a week. When I came back, it had shriveled up and drooped completely! What could be the cause?
Good morning Ailia, From the information: it was probably too much direct sun. Root rot would have happened more gradually. Disease would have left some evidence. Hello, Ada Both plant were doing very well. until I treated them to a soak in the koi pond and forgot them there during a hot tropical day where the sun beat down like a vengeful god. I hope my dramatic speech expressed the intensity of the tropical sun. They were beautiful, and got burned. I repotted another plant and got a little too aggressive with the root trimming, and they (the now two plants) struggled for over a month before recovering. I notice the blooms, but I don't focus on the blooms. i like the leaves. The blooms remind me of "Lily Munster," played by Yvonne DeCarlo, and she had a hard life. anyways... Try more sunlight, but keep your plant out of direct sunlight. Try "indoor house plant liquid fertilizer," but don't over do it. I hope to be making more videos soon. Hey, Michele I cut off the blooms as soon as I see them. The blooms take away a lot of energy from the plant, and it doesn't look that spectacular. I thought of seeding the plant, but I never have the time to fuss with seedlings. I suggest you cut the blooms, unless you really like them. The plants are pretty hardy. Gerald
Good morning, Sarathkumar. Aloha from Hawaii. I use Miracle Grow indoor houseplant fertilizer, but I use only 1/2 the recommended dose. I fertilize sparsely to not burn the plants. I also use Alaskan fish fertilizer, which feeds the microbes in the soil that metabolize compost into elements that plants can digest. I always assess the health of the plant each watering, if the plant appears to suffer, I investigate why. I hope this helps, Gerald:)

Interesting way of preparing the earth for potting, : )
when i did my mixes of potting soil, i used water absorvernt rocks on the bothom,
added any rich mineral rocks for the plant roots ^^ that i could find,then hadded a layer of hard soil,
after that layer i added a layer of leaf's, always in a mix, because it also absorves water and supplies nurishment as it decays, the next layers i used oak bark that standard soil ^^
you can buy in any gardening store...
i dont know why but some plants like sand : )...

It's been a rough couple of months. I hope you've been well.
Forget the orchid bark for now. These times are getting ... hard. Inflations is surely coming, so let's be thrifty. I would decrease my soil recipe to two parts potting soil and one part Perlite. If you can't get Perlite, just make due with just potting soil.
Peace Lilies are hardy plants. Keep the plant away from direct light and water the plant only when the soil is dry.

I am so glad to have found your video's... 80) Firstly, bcuz my Peace Lily is in desparate need of therapy/repotting and secondly, I SUCK when it comes to gardening. I'm really afraid my Peace Lily is dying, there are a few leaves that have turned yellow. I've had it for 4 years and never attempted to re-pot for fear of doing more harm than good. But now, if there is any chance that I can save it, I know I will need to attempt to re-pot it. Any suggestion/tips for a challenged 'green thump' would be appreciated. Thanx much...
It's scary to repot a plant. I know the feeling. You love the plant, and it's doing well, so you don't want to disturb it, but the day eventually comes.
This is what I would do:
Buy a pot one size bigger, but if the plant is very root-bound, you may want to buy a pot two sizes bigger. Untangle the roots as best and a gently as possible, then pot it.
potting soil and perlite (2:1 ratio), gravel on the bottom.
water generously
let plant rest in bright indirect light.
couple weeks later, fertilize with "fish fertilizer" = this feeds the soil which breaks down compost for the plant to absorb
couple weeks later, fertilize with 16*16*16/ chemical fertilizer - well below the recommended dose. I'd use about a hlaf a teaspoon of the grannual fertilizer or quarter strength liguid fertilizer.
Once I see new growth, I put it back in the house, but I have low light in my house, this could stress the "post-operative" plant. That's why I place recovering plants in special area. If your house has adequate light, you don't need to do that.

Where do you get your neem oil from? Is it pure neem oil? Stores near me only carry neem oil extract that has fungicide, etc in it? Do you purchase it online? If so, what is the brand?

Hello! I was gifted a young peace lily plant, then left it at home near a sunny window for a week. When I came back, it had shriveled up and drooped completely! What could be the cause?

From the information: it was probably too much direct sun. Root rot would have happened more gradually. Disease would have left some evidence. These plants do well in bright indirect light to low light, but this is how we learn.

Both plant were doing very well. until I treated them to a soak in the koi pond and forgot them there during a hot tropical day where the sun beat down like a vengeful god. I hope my dramatic speech expressed the intensity of the tropical sun. They were beautiful, and got burned.
I repotted another plant and got a little too aggressive with the root trimming, and they (the now two plants) struggled for over a month before recovering. I think I'm going to let them get rootbound and see what happens

Blooms take a lot of energy from plants, so if you must replant your plant while it's blooming, pluck off the buds and blooms, so the plant can adjust easier.

Peace lilies bloom around spring and summer, but they may need more light. I notice the blooms, but I don't focus on the blooms. i like the leaves. The blooms remind me of "Lily Munster," played by Yvonne DeCarlo, and she had a hard life.

Try more sunlight, but keep your plant out of direct sunlight. Try "indoor house plant liquid fertilizer," but don't over do it.

I cut off the blooms as soon as I see them. The blooms take away a lot of energy from the plant, and it doesn't look that spectacular. I thought of seeding the plant, but I never have the time to fuss with seedlings. I suggest you cut the blooms, unless you really like them. The plants are pretty hardy.

I use Miracle Grow indoor houseplant fertilizer, but I use only 1/2 the recommended dose. I fertilize sparsely to not burn the plants. I also use Alaskan fish fertilizer, which feeds the microbes in the soil that metabolize compost into elements that plants can digest.
I always assess the health of the plant each watering, if the plant appears to suffer, I investigate why.
