    I just started buying plants and I’m learning how to care for them. I bought a peace Lily two days ago and it’s already big, I just noticed that the roots are showing on the top of the soil so I think it’s time to repot it! It will be my first time doing this so I hope it goes well!

    Love this♥️This video was very helpful. I have a Peace Lilly from my father in law’s funeral. It has gotten so big since we had it for 3 months. It’s beautiful. I’m getting ready to repot it, but I think I want to make two new pots. Thank you for the information 🙏🏽I also play classical musical during the day. It seems to help it thrive, or maybe I just think that🤣

    I have a Peace Lily that was handed down to me by my grandmother. It was taken home from my great grandmother's funeral. It's the only plant that I have ever been able to keep alive. It desperately needs to be seperated and repotted. However, the plant is (no lie) more than 30 years old. Should I even try to seperate it, or do you think the roots will just be too tangled because it's so old. I would be absolutely devastated if it died. Thanks in advance for any advice!🪴😊

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Zshanee! Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Peace lily can be pretty dramatic sometimes specially if it doesn't like it's new environment. I would personally not try to detangle the roots if it's been in the same pot for soo many years (it will be hard to detangle the roots). If it's getting too crowded in the pot, I would just transfer the whole plant (keeping the same soil unless it's moldy or infested with bugs) in a bigger pot with good drainage and add more soil to it. Best of luck to you!

      @devilmecare 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't disturb the roots! Just get the bigger pot and more soil. The roots will start to reach out without your help.

      Oh, before reading the responses to Zshanee, I watched your video and did repot (separating the roots) on my Peace Lily. I do feel it will be happier to be many smaller plants in roomy pots. My plant was given by my brother to my mother around 1983, two years or so before he died. We've had it ever since, transplanted it a couple times. Now we have it in a few pots and each of us can have some. Good luck with your grandmother's plant from your great-grandmother's funeral, Zshanee! Thanks for the video, Food Art Travel!

    • @yolyrom7233
      @yolyrom7233 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I would try to separate it into two parts, maybe, or just pot it up into a larger, well draining pot. To me that would be kinda like an heirloom, so I wouldn’t want to destroy it. It’s up to you!

    Peace lilies like much smaller pots than this because they actually like being root bound, so a pot that is just a tad bigger than their root ball is optimal.

    I don't know whether to repot my peace lily. The soil is extremely compact and I think it's affecting the watering. Doesn't seem to absorb water properly. What would you do? It's otherwise happy and I don't want to disturb it and I've never repotted before.

      If the plant is happy, do not disturb it. I would get a little stick like a chopstick to kinda poke holes through the dirt and loosen up the soil a little bit before watering the plant. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    Thank you you for sharing! I just repotted my 8 y/o peace Lilly for the first time 😅. The roots have been showing for quite some time and I finally got the drive to do this. After I separated it into 4 different pots, they all look a bit sad and droopy. I did moistened the soil so I hope they perk up soon. I don’t really have a green thumb so I hope I didn’t kill my plant 😞.

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some plants would get transplant shock specially if it has not been repotted or moved for awhile . Just let the plant get adjusted to it's new pot/new location, as long as it's getting indirect light, not over watered, and have enough humidity it should come back happy. Good luck!

    • @FoodArtTravel

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carolyn, if you are trying to divide your peace lily and its root bound, you can get some of the babies growing on the sides. Their roots are probably not too deep. I think peace lily will survive even if they are root bound and too large for their space. If you want to move it to a bigger space, then the only way to do that is to remove the whole plant from the pot and transfer to a bigger pot, (might not need to untangle the roots because for the size of plant that you have). Hope this helps. Good luck.

    • @FoodArtTravel

      I don't repot unless they are overgrown or there is a bug infestation. The less disturbed, the more peaceful they are. That's why we call them peace lilies. Leave them be.

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peace lily will sometimes show wilting after the repot. It could be transplant shock. Give it at least a week or two to see if it will perk back up. As long as the leaves are green, most likely it is fine. Now, when the leaves turn yellow, the soil might be holding too much water. If the leaves turns black or brown, the soil might have ph imbalance . Good luck!

    Plant Division, not transplant Right? I did this plant division to mine and they all started to droop. Is mine going to bounce back, or did I kill them? the roots are healthy just like yours, and the leaves are all beautiful green, and they were watered once repotted. in a very nice east-facing window with no direct sunlight, at the moment. I did however take them outside the first night when I divided them and set them on my porch. no direct sunlight, and the nights only get down to about 60. did I kill it? i brought it back in the day after because that's when I saw the wilting. and its been three days and shes still wilting lol

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      My peace lily was divided and repotted. Peace lily can be really dramatic and very sensitive to temperature change and humidity change. They will wilt easily but will possibly recover once the problem is corrected. I wouldn't put it in a spot that has temperature below 68F, keep it away from direct sunlight, water it only when at least top 3 inches of the dirt is bone dry and make sure the the pot has really good drainage. It might still be adjusting to all the changes but hopefully it will come back happy. Best of luck!

Most of my other plants have no problem but the peace lily leaves brown and dry out. It’s just a cheap supermarket plant but it’s a diva.... Now that I added more varieties of other plants the pilea, calathea, and fern also get the distilled just in case but everyone else is happy with the tap water.

    About how many bulbs do you plant together?

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I planted at least three to five bulbs together. The more bulb you plant together, the plant will look fuller in a pot.

    How do you know if a peace lily has outgrown its Pot?

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      To me, the sign is if it keeps on yellowing or does not show new growth even if you are giving the same exact care or water you've been giving the plant before. Every 2 years is good, at least from my experience.

      @@FoodArtTravel I don't have much light in my apartment. What artificial lighting would you recommend?

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @jeffreykaufmann2867 I honestly have not used any artificial lighting, but most of the people I know use grow light, which they purchased from Amazon.

      @FoodArtTravel I have a small Peace Lily in a 6 inch Pot. When I water it the water drains out of the pot quickly. But the Plant is Healthy with new leaves growing.

    • @FoodArtTravel

      Hopefully it will recover fast. Peace lily tend to be sensitive to change in temperature, humidity, or watering schedule. I normally repot in the spring or summer. Good luck!

    Is that all the water you spray on it after repotting?

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peace lily does not like to be overwatered. I sprayed water enough to make the soil moist but not soaking wet.

      @@FoodArtTravel this is my first time having plants. I have 2 peace lily's. One is flourishing well and the other not so much. I did exactly what you did in this video today. I see a difference already. I hope it perks up. Thank you for responding!

    what if you don't detangle the roots? what happens then?

    • @FoodArtTravel
      @FoodArtTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only reason I detangle the roots was because I was separating the plant into 3 different pots. You don't have to detangle the roots if you are not separating the plants. You can just transfer the peace lily into a bigger pot if needed and it should do fine without detangling the roots.

    *made this FB post years ago, they are still doing the same much worse than before that almost killed a person or me. Still no Justice found/seen/felt.*
    (I don't usually post to Facebook)
    looking for Justice in all aspect anyway possible.
    I was kidnapped/abduct inside my house. Still don't know the reason why. Almost died, kinaladkad, tinali, sugat braso at paa, dinaganan tiyan rib cage area internal damage, force to eat food that get my internal organs bigger.
    Why just now? They force to ingest me medicine that I almost lose my sanity, pinanghawakan ko padin Sanity correct frame of thinking. Ang sabi "kapag hindi mo ininum yan tuturukan ka namin". With a smile on their faces.
    Made this message/post in understandable manner, not short not too long. Waiting for Department of Justice reply.
    They still pushing me to do wrong or frame-up. Para takpan ginawa nila, kung sino man.
