- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin must pay to rebuild what he has destroyed in Ukraine.
Speaking in Kyiv, Mr Blinken said Washington has the power to seize Russian assets in the US and will use them to help rebuild Ukraine.
Blinken’s visit comes as the country struggles to hold back a major Russian incursion near its second biggest city of Kharkiv.

So, Ukraine has had 2 years plus lots of money to fortify their northern border and Kharkiv since Russia withdrew from that part back in 2022, far more time than Russia did to build the Surovikin line in the south. What happened?? Where did the money go??? There are reports of incomplete fortifications or inadequate defenses such as in depth minefields. You can't blame that on the latest aid.

Russia has already rebuilt infastructure,housing and factories in Mariupol which was largely damaged by Ukrainian shelling. -- it will do the same in all of the Donbass --- again much of the damage inflicted by the Ukrainian side between 2014 and now. As for the West of Ukraine ,much of it now owned by Blackrock and Vanguard etc , and still largely intact.I don't think Russia will fund that.-- Ukraine should have took the peace deal which was on the table in April 2022 ---- whatever the current rebuild costs and who pays it , no one can bring back the 400,000 dead Ukrainians whose lives were squandered in this failed attempt to weaken Russia and replace President Putin..

I thought Blackrock would be paying. I also thought that this decision on whom should pay would be a collaborative UN decision. Whom made the USA boss? I have been to Ukraine many times over the past 12 years, and it is clear the whole place was NEVER maintained since 1991 independence and before. Buildings are crumbling and a hole in the middle of the road in Kherson quite literally had a tree placed in it to stop the buses putting a wheel in. Taxis have to swerve every 20 feet to avoid huge potholes. The public buses felt like the axles were going to come detached. The housing was neglected and the buildings put up by Stalin are at the end of their viability. In many ways it is almost like the rich and corrupt Ukrainian politicians, having ripped off the country, actually want it demolished and rebuilt by USA or Russia, or EU, or anybody except Ukraine, because they will NEVER pay anyone for rebuilding. Any loads USA has will Ukraine, they can kiss goodbye. Ukrainians who have any possibility have left years ago. Look at the population numbers, the falling birth rate, the decline of the currency. Look at the many documentaries about Ukraine homeless street children, some as young as 4 years old.
When you saw how in Mariupol the Ukrainian military deliberately destroyed buildings , theatres, hospitals and flattened the city, it was not Russia, but was literally Ukrainian military wiping the city down. This has been deliberate demolition and population reset by Kiev. Wake up world.
