How did this guy go from being one of the top R&B acts in the early 90s to completely disappearing for pretty much 2 decades? He’s obviously still got it after all this time.
Also keep in mind some people don’t want the stress of fame not saying that was the case with Tevin Campbell but some artists or bands what have you might make a few hits or albums than try to sneak their way out of the spotlight! Fame is not for everybody!
I saw this film in theaters with my Mom at age 15, and this performance brought back so many memories. She passed away in March, but I think she'd loved to have seen this; it was one of the very few films we both actually enjoyed watching together.
That's an awesome memory. I was 16 when it came out but didn't get to see it at the movies. My mom bought me the VHS tape, Ik aging myself, but I played it over and over. Memories of a better time.
I don't think he realizes how much he's a part of our childhoods he's amazing brings back beautiful memories he sounds exactly the same and he's singing live! I hope they have a 30 year anniversary! ❤
The choice to mix in different dance scenes from various Disney movies was chef's kiss. It's like you got a dose of several feel good moments from the past while watching TC perform one of the coolest songs in Disney's repertoire. We had it good in terms of movies back in the day.
I'm such a big baby sitting here crying all happy lol. Me and my brother used to watch this movie OVER AND OVER AND OVER as kids. I really brought me back. Hell, I thought I was powerline at one point in my life lol.
The greatest Disney song EVER!!!! I'm 28 and I still remember every word to this song...I went and bought it yesterday for my 6yr old daughter and I think I was more hyped than her watching it lol.
they didn’t need to make this song so hard in a Disney movie lol I love it!!! I love the fact that I grew up with this, I’m about to be 30 this month damn. I’m a 1991 baby.
A guy sang this on American Idol in 2019. The judges had no idea what the song was or what it was from. Lionel's daughter Sofia is 22 and his son Miles is 26. They should have grown up with A Goofy Movie. Not trying to be salty about it but I'm salty. This movie is a classic.
I was 5 when this came out in theaters, and even got the VHS copy when it came out. 90s Disney movies had the BEST soundtracks. they should have released a powerline album to follow the release of the movie, would have been gold
You know, for a while before learning who the voice for Powerline was, I actually assumed that Powerline was played by Michael Jackson himself. To see someone with very similar vocals and skills like Michael Jackson- that is the DEFINITION of awesome!
If we listen to each others' heart, we find where never too far apart. And MAYBE LOVE IS THE REASON WHY! For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye.
Sometimes it kills me they didn’t write more powerline songs and give him his own movie about a concert adventure across the states... it would have been epic and we could have had more badass songs...
Holy sh... this is awesome. I remember dressing myself up in yellow as a kid to look like Powerline and then danced and sang along while watching the movie. Loved it, was one of my favorites. This makes me happy, so cool!
wow this one my favorites song from a goofy movie the eye to eye. Tevin got a very nice voice too he awesome how sing and play as power line he is so awesome
I just realized Jenna Von Oy got up to go dance with folks....how awesome!! How could anyone not have left that place smiling that day? I hope the whole panel felt amazing knowing they lifted spirits and made people cry happy tears for making something so legendary in their/our childhoods.
I will always remember back when I was in middle school and went on a class trip to see the musical Hairspray. I got goosebumps listening to your performance of “Run and tell that”. I knew I recognized your voice from somewhere and when I looked up your name on the program, I was amazed to find out that you were Powerline from a goofy movie
After plenty of success in the early 90s Tevin Campbell's popularity declined in the late 90s. Several years later, after being arrested and not having released any music for a while, he dived into the world of musicals. He has worked on some music recently, but never regained the success he had in the first half of the 90s. This guy's talent at a young age was quite remarkable and it seems like his vocals are still on point, but that's not enough to become and especially remain a huge star in the world of music.
LOVE this movie (2nd, not so much) but there are many many times I have wondered (besides Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the people who dress up as them in the park) if the people at Disney even remember the old school characters like Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Max, Chip & Dale etc, they seem to focus more on things like movie characters (Simbas son getting a show of his own, live action stuff etc) and tend to seem to forget about these characters that helped Mickey get Disney to where it is today. Then they do stuff like this and a small glimmer of hope shines through with maybe they are not so ignorant these days about who started it and what followed...still would like more traditional Mickey Mouse cartoons and the like though, even if it is on XD or Disney Jr, Sofia and Jake are nice and all but, like I said, more then not it does seem Mickey and co are over looked these days when it comes to cartoons.
TheLostLenore The thing is. I don't think they're ignorant these days....I think they are just trying to appeal to the current market. Which seems to focus on these newer characters. Lets face it. How many of today's kids saw A Goofy Movie?
DML897 Fair point, I guess they do need to appeal to todays market but that doesn't mean they should push stuff like this to the back burner, if they catered for todays market yet still had Mickey and co show up at least they will be seeing the greatness that came before Lab Rats and I Didn't Do It especially when these days people LOVE cartoons. Take a look at all the Bronys out there, the Adventure Time fans, Steven Universe fans, even old school shows like Gargoyles and Thunder Cats still have a huge cult following, cartoons for the older kids are STILL in fashion, all they need to do is apply Mickey, Goofy etc into situations that would appeal to todays demographic and they would be loved by the new generation.
+TheLostLenore If they brought the old stuff back it would be just as popular as the stuff now. To be honest I think that disney should do what Nickelodeon does, have a block of their old shows. Not as late at night but where kids today would see it. They would love it I think.
They did end the whole event with a Powerline Concert alright. Hmmm... This gives me an idea... An idea of a spin-off show. One that stars Powerline in there lol Who wants a show like that - especially under the name "The Powerline Show"? DOUBLE LOL
OMG!!! ❤️ When is Disney going to release a whole album of powerline!!!!!! I need this in my life!!! This would be the perfect hope for 2020 🙏🏼 please!!!!!!! cause this year has been awful .... This just gave me so much joy 😭... or am I the only one that thinks this??? 🎶 🎤 #Powerline2020
the 90`s national anthem
Zero Gravity Productions 😂😂 Totally agreed bruh!
🤣🤣
LOL "’90’s national anthem"...
Damn right! (Pardon my profanity.)
How did this guy go from being one of the top R&B acts in the early 90s to completely disappearing for pretty much 2 decades? He’s obviously still got it after all this time.
Caught up in controversy sadly.
@@Rob774what controversy?
@@stichhavoc88long story short he was one of many bright young stars that were violated behind the scenes by the powers that be.
He also is gay and that was unfortunately a career killer in the day
Also keep in mind some people don’t want the stress of fame not saying that was the case with Tevin Campbell but some artists or bands what have you might make a few hits or albums than try to sneak their way out of the spotlight!
Fame is not for everybody!
It would have been awesome if he was dressed as powerline
YES
+MC Jay you are soooooooooo right! that would have been fire!!
+Portgas D Ace and Savannah dope not fire
Omg my fangirl heart needs to calm down
With the hair.
He still has it after twenty years!

+Jackie McCann that's what "still has it" means, that it was never gone 😄
CriticalRedemption weird cause he looks young as hell
Did you here the applause?
Legendary 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
The fact that they got costumed backup dancers is too legendary
Now THAT'S dedication!
I cried. Not sure exactly why. Either because my childhood came to life or I'm realizing my childhood was amazing and it's over. 😭

They're ACTUALLY doing "The Perfect Cast". Brilliant.
I know it's a few years old now, but this is 20 years later... Tevin's voice is still amazing. Wow. Just...wow.
The choice to mix in different dance scenes from various Disney movies was chef's kiss.
It's like you got a dose of several feel good moments from the past while watching TC perform one of the coolest songs in Disney's repertoire.
We had it good in terms of movies back in the day.
This is historic for so many reasons...mainly because this was the first time he ever sung I2I live!!
I'm such a big baby sitting here crying all happy lol. Me and my brother used to watch this movie OVER AND OVER AND OVER as kids. I really brought me back. Hell, I thought I was powerline at one point in my life lol.
me to
The greatest Disney song EVER!!!! I'm 28 and I still remember every word to this song...I went and bought it yesterday for my 6yr old daughter and I think I was more hyped than her watching it lol.
6 years later but I hope you two enjoyed watching it
Hey man you are 36 years old now, how is it going
how can u sit down during this song???!! like i would be dancing with them! this song is the shit!!! tevin still got it!!!
20 years later and he's still an amazing singer. He makes a lot of the artist now a days look like novices.
+Kameron Hunt good point he puts them to shame
THIS GUY IS A DISNEY SINGER LEGEND!!! HIS SONGS OF" STAND OUT" AND "I 2 I" THROW ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD!!
they didn’t need to make this song so hard in a Disney movie lol I love it!!! I love the fact that I grew up with this, I’m about to be 30 this month damn. I’m a 1991 baby.
Seeing all the clips of other Disney movies in the background was really something.
Disneygasm
yea i agree
Azunyan so so true; has anyone tried recreating that music video in the background with high quality clips? I'd love to see it
+SkyGrinder2011 I could give it a shot. :)
never would have noticed if you didnt point it out. rewatched it and took a look at it, super awesome!
Awesome he has some loyal fans!!! The love was real after so many years you go tevin!!!

I am jealous of everyone in this room!
I was 5 when this came out in theaters, and even got the VHS copy when it came out. 90s Disney movies had the BEST soundtracks. they should have released a powerline album to follow the release of the movie, would have been gold

PREACH!
Me too, but at 11 years old!

TreeHouseDotTv same
A song from a fictional act in an animated film has no business being this good. Another example is The Beats from Doug.
You know, for a while before learning who the voice for Powerline was, I actually assumed that Powerline was played by Michael Jackson himself.
To see someone with very similar vocals and skills like Michael Jackson- that
is the DEFINITION of awesome!
I also thought it was Michael Jackson lol
So true
What a beautiful celebration of one of the best films of all time.
If we listen to each others' heart, we find where never too far apart. And MAYBE LOVE IS THE REASON WHY!
For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye.
I would have cried and pissed myself a little if I was there lol
Sadly me too! I would cried like a 13 year old girl at a Justin beiver concert LOL!

Same here!
Yooo when they showed all the disney characters dancing and showed Robin Williams it broke me 💕😫
Same!😭💙
Why does this song bring so much joy to my soul . ❤❤
Man I teared up a little watching this (: took me back to when I was a little kid haha man I love this movie
Oh. My. GOD.
My thoughts when i saw the title
Ok so I'm really glad I'm not the only one crying watching this! :) That key change near the end really gets me!
He IS Powerline!!!
watching this reminds me of why I want to be an animator.
Same! I hope you managed to follow your dream! 😊
This brought tears to my eyes.
Choreography by Disney Cast Members: Emily Fully Gibby and Kiel Palsgaard. Snaps to you two!!
my CHILDHOOD THE FEELS
Rewatching this, I realized Jason Marsden started recording his own personal version of this early on; you know he's going to show it off like crazy.
Tevin's still got it!... this was nice to watch.
It hurt so bad watching this... Hit me so hard right in the feels.
Eye to Eye & Stand Out are one of my favorite songs in "A Goofy Movie."
Love this performance, Tevin Campbell killed it. This performance is even better than I remember it being, love it.
When the back up dancers did The Perfect Cast I was like "yaaaaaasssss" lol
omg im tearing up! tevin!!!
This will always be one of my favorite Disney movies. Thank you for this.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ I cried because this song made me so happy and bring back great memories!!! Amazing voice!
Oh my god I'm so emotional, this song and Stand Out pretty much defined my childhood
Sometimes it kills me they didn’t write more powerline songs and give him his own movie about a concert adventure across the states... it would have been epic and we could have had more badass songs...
This is why TH-cam needs a "LOVE" option. :)
Ah this song just never gets old :)
I barely saw this for the first time and omg wow. Amazing peformance! Thank you tevin Cambell
I love how Rob Paulsen is just grooving out in the background!
You can see Tevin LOVES singing this.
His smile says it all xxx
This made me irrationally happy!
Holy sh... this is awesome. I remember dressing myself up in yellow as a kid to look like Powerline and then danced and sang along while watching the movie. Loved it, was one of my favorites.

Gosh this is my dream concert. Wish I could've been there 😭 ❤❤
But it felt like I was. This was great!
I just realized Jenna Von Oy got up to go dance with folks....how awesome!! How could anyone not have left that place smiling that day? I hope the whole panel felt amazing knowing they lifted spirits and made people cry happy tears for making something so legendary in their/our childhoods.

there is the perfect cast, but in many ways the actors in this movie and singers truly made this the perfect cast. a classic.
Iconic soundtrack
It would've made it 10x better if Tevin came out in a Powerline costume

Lmao true
Just took me waaay back. I forgot this was my favorite movie as a kid
Tevin, Tevin, do the perfect cast
I feel like this guy is a ghost! Can't find him anywhere. His songs are so amazing though!

OMG! I smiled sooo hard during this LOL This is my favorite scene from the movie 😃😄
His voice is still great !!!
They did end the whole event with a Powerline Concert alright.
Hmmm... This gives me an idea...
An idea of a spin-off show.
One that stars Powerline in there lol
Who wants a show like that - especially under the name "The Powerline Show"?
DOUBLE LOL
I forgot how much I loved this movie until just this video. Feel like I'm 12 again :')
THEY ARE SO AWESOME FOR DOING THIS!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
