This is a song that had no "business" going as hard as it does, but I'd never want to have it any other way.
They really had no right turning up this hard 😂😂😂😂
its exactly what it needs to be the 1990s did not play when it came to soundtracks and cartoon theme songs
It’s because it was produced by Prince’s producer at his studio
Where's your album Jaron stop stalling or imma be stalking you about it. Lol. Tevin is killin. Now please do one on Phill Perry and the cartoon voice over he did on that theme song that sounds like spruce goose but I don't think that's the actual words but please do an analysis on Phill Perry on that
Facts nun but facts
Quite literally just finished watching this movie with my son. He's only 6 months old, but you're never too young for the Leaning Tower of Cheesa.
Lol you're a good parent ;) teach them the good stuff haha.
😂
I agree! 🙌🏽😅
😂
You mean you was low-key watching 😂😂😂 I would watch it by myself and I'm 35
this song STILL goes hard!
I friggin' love Goofy Movie lol.
Still!!
100
Fun Fact: They originally wanted Prince to play the part of powerline, but clearly, clearly, Tevin Campbell was up to the challenge which explains the clothing of powerline and how it was supposed to be referenced to prince.
Yeah he was a mix of Bobby Brown and Prince with Michael Jackson. I2i was stylized that way from Prince
The white glove in the air at the beginning of the song was a reference to Michael Jackson. The performance itself and the style of singing was a reference to Bobby Brown's concert performance of My Prerogative. The outfit and hair style as well as going with the flow on stage are a reference to Prince.
They actually wanted Bobby brown
also there's a Tennis racquet called prince power line... lol
you can hear that in the melodic composition. It sounds like it was meant for Prince
Even though we praising Tevin Campbell, your voice is immaculate
We don't deserve him
Omg this!
I wish I could sing like this
Powerline needed his own movie
That would be dope. And that he had some elements like max growing up.. that would actually make me cry, since Max idolized him, and had an epic moment on stage with the Powerline and his Dad ❤
I ABSOLUTELY second this!!!
A super hero
Tevin did not have to go this hard for us kids but he did and I will always love him for it! This and Stand Out are legit FIRE!
As I’ve gotten older I’ve developed more respect for how stupid hard some of these musicians go on kids show tunes. Another good example is SpongeBob, those movie soundtracks did NOT need to go that hard, but they did it anyway.
Yeah, he didn’t just bring his A game, he brought his A+ or even S game.
And we are still singing it TODAY🤣🤣💯
"I do not make films for children... or, at least, not primarily for children."
"You're dead if you aim for kids."
"We design the films to appeal to ourselves."
"The adults have the money; ... children don't have any money."
- Walt Disney
th-cam.com/video/94ucLkGoI1E/w-d-xo.html
Tevin is right there shoulder to shoulder with guys like Jason Paige in terms of singers who went irrationally hard for the 90's kids. This performance is right there with the greatest movie tracks of all time.
This is hands down my absolute favorite song from a Disney movie.
1. Hakuna Matata
2. This one
3. Don't care..
@@ElMidnightTigre it’s a great production. Keep in mind if this is #1 for me, songs From Hercules are #2… rather # 1.5 lol
Absolutely the best Disney song.
The music in this movie had no business being as good it was, it truly is iconic and memorable, and straight fire
@@greythumbshenanigans559You have good taste 😂
Yassssss! I will forever love this song & im still waiting for Tevin Campbell to make a full power line album for the culture
We need a comeback tour movie. A Goofy Movie Reunion
You and me both!!! Literally a Powerline Concert and album!
That would be amazing he’s so gifted and talented and still just as full of life as he was when he first came out
I'm hoping they retheme Rock'N'Rollercoaster at Disney Hollywood Studios to Powerline instead of Aerosmith. We need this Powerline album to add more variety to that plan. Also a Powerline meet and greet, or even Max dressed as Powerline would be acceptable.
@@mccormick151428Well, he's only 40 this year, so should be plenty of life left ;) He was only 18 when he sang these songs!
Tevin and Rosie Gaines really did that 😮💨
At last, someone said who did the insane female voice in this song! I was looking for it for years. I didn't know it was Rosie Gaines! Thanks for that info!
YES!
And both of them were collaborators with Prince. You can actually see Tevin perform in GRAFFITI BRIDGE five years prior to A GOOFY MOVIE.
I always thought she had an Aretha vibe to her voice
that song still hits today. disney didn't have to go so hard with this song lol my childhood, i'm 31.
I know my child self wasn't ready😂 it's still a tune till this day
31 aswel and this still pops into my head mostly when I’m doing housework 😂
On the contrary they did , it relates to moive and da differences so much yall kn we had lol and i Wuz born in 85 💪🏾 this my moive behind lion king strong 💪🏾
Seriously. This song was ahead of its time. Still slaps
30 years still love this movies
The fact that you are matching his notes hats off to you sir. You have a monster voice.
Rosie Gaines (one of Princes most brilliant musical partners) also sang on this
Love that! omg
Yes! I loved her on Diamonds and Pearls
They animate her for a few seconds during the last high note.
You can definitely hear the Prince influence
I think Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced it, right? Love Prince 😢❤
What shocks me the most about Tevin Campbell is that this is such a diffrent style of music that what I was used to from him. It showed how amazing je is as a vocalist!
Tevin sung tf out this song it still slaps to this day
Good ole “One take Tevin”. Absolute underrated, underappreciated legend of RnB. I’m glad he’s still performing. The industry did him dirty. He deserved so much better.
Love how you pointed out tevin’s voice is very bright and forward. That’s hard to come by for a lot of male vocalists in the industry except for MJ there’s not too many. I hope Tevin sees your analysis too!
Ok for years I thought it was MJ and to find out it was someone else is might blowing...
@tinaloye2014 A lot of people did assume that, unless they were already pretty familiar with Tevin Campbell in the early to mid 90s, which would have been around the age of the kids that this movie was targeted toward at the time, but even many of them thought it was MJ as well. There's probably a large number of people that still do, so you weren't alone.
He sang this live a few years ago and it was soooo good there’s a video on TH-cam of it.
We talking about Tevin Cambell, the male Whitney Houston.
Got a little bit caught up in the storyline for a minute there 😂
Was getting teary eyed lol
This whole reaction made me smile so much! And this is also another reason why I miss classic Disney when they actually had singers and background singers doing the music throughout the film which in the end made killer soundtracks, this movie came out decades ago and it's still on my playlist today
Same 😊 I have quite a few classic Disney animated movie songs on my playlist and I'm 30.
Amen 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 😊❤.. Always have a few Disney feel good classics.
Agreed!
He sure took us to church-and so did you 😊 #churchruns
That 🎵"Yeeaaaaaah Yeeeaa-aaah!!!"🎵 in the beginning is like a roll call. Lololol. Yes and yes!
My sister and I have been in love with this movie since we were kids lol. And she LOVES this part lol. She will rewind it every chance she gets even now and we’re both nearing 40 lol. A classic song!
same!
😂😂😂 girl same I will still do this at my Adult age of 40
a bit unrelated from the singing analysis but I love the character of Powerline in the movie, yes he is essentially a plot device with not actual character behind him but he feels like an entertainer, he doesn't stop singing or make a big deal out of Goofy and Max hijacking his show, he just rolls with it and makes the best out of what happened, of course this is helped by Goofy and Max themselves being entertaining but powerline didn't call over security, he instead allowed them to stay because the fans loved it and he just wants to entertain
In a span of about 3 seconds this man probably went from “wtf are these guys doing here?” to “fuck it, they got moves, we ballin”
One of the first times I’ve heard a vocal coach do every note, run, grit of a song and made me wanna hear them sing the song. You have so much talent. RESPECT!
A Goofy Movie is one of my go-to comfort animated films. I love it so much, thank you for your analysis and expertise!
Almost 30 years later and I'm STILL jammin' to this banger on every play list almost daily.
Tevin Campbell was one of the first vocalists I ever grew a respect for. The man is talented beyond words.
That key change never fails to give me full body CHILLS years later. It’s so smooth and perfect, and even as an alto this is one of my favorite Disney songs to belt in the shower or in the car. Especially the RUNS, it’s impossible to resist giving your all singing along.
You hit that jawn @3:46🤌🏽
I got goosebumps 💯
Philadelphian???
5:42 AS WELL 🤧
Rosie Gaines, Martha Wash are two of the best singers to ever grace this planet. It's a shame that their weight barred them from the heights they shoukd have attained.
That's such an odd thing, especially when you have singers like Pavarotti out there.
@BJGvideos Difference between what men are allowed, and what women are not
@@BloodRavenxxx I just can't fathom why anybody would give a shit about things like that when the music is all that should matter
@@BJGvideos Agreed, but look at all the shit Lizzo has to deal with, just because of her weight. It's really sad.
@@BloodRavenxxx I don't know who that is
Thank you for this! Tevin Campbell deserves his flowers! 💐 He put his foot on the gas and didn’t let up on this soundtrack! 🔥
Your voice is so moving. It literally choked me up when you would do your rendition of what you are reviewing
Who else cried tears of joy when the movie clips were playing 🥹❤️
I was to bring back my childhood watched this soon as the movie was out on the Disney channel ❤❤❤ loved it
*Yes for the fact we’re never ever getting this back….Especially early 90s babies! This generation of greatness here is completely dead now*
Me!
my childhood jam! nothing compares hAHAH
I saw him in concert in Dec 2022. And he did a little part of it!!! That was THEE one song i hoped he did 🤣🤣🤣☺ And he did it phenomenally!!
Im 38 years old and I still listen to this song at least once a week on my drive in to town. Tevin Campbell has some incredible vocals.
This breakdown was really enjoyable to watch. Subbed.
I love that Tevin does all the adlibs and sings dueling vocals of different characters. That shocked me as an adult learning that the whole thing was alllll him.
He doesn't do all the adllibs by himself. Rosie Gaines was singing with him. Their back and forth towards the end of the song was great like they were pushing each other to take it there. They did their thing on this song
This song is great and the movie is so good. From the opening “Stand Out” where we learn that Max feels invisible, to “I2I” where “Max is on the tu-ube! I know him!!!” 🥹
and he learns that his dad really cares and would do anything for Max’s dreams… and it turns out The Perfect Cast is a killer dance move! They end up seeing eye to eye. ♥️
Let's give some props to Rosie Gaines from Prince and the New Power Generation on background vocals doing all the growls and ad-libs. Also to Prince, who secretly wrote this song
Yesss! Also didn't know Prince wrote it! He used one if his aliases?
He shows his tail even more as the song goes on, and we live for it!!
With the LEGENDARY Rosie Gaines giving a good supporting vocal!
This was so fun and nostalgic. My inner child ('92) is so happy right now. Thank you for this analysis and I look forward to seeing more like this on the channel.
Mine too! (89)
You & Tevin are both seriously underrated singers
I smiled like a fool through this whole video😂 I’ve loved this song and movie since childhood and this was so satisfying to watch. Thanks for doing this one!
Just watched this movie. Great song! He has such a distinctive voice.
Do Tevin "Don't Say Goodbye Girl". I think it shows off the features of his voice perfectly!
my fave Tevin song
I love that song!!!
Agreed!!! He nailed that song to the WALL! 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤
“Tell Me What You Want Me To Do” is another gem.
Definitely one of my Favorites from Tevin
it's an absolute crime that there wasn't an extended version of this, my god. moving me to tears in 30 seconds flat, every time. Disney today could never.
Your voice is also incredible, absolutely blown away right out the gate, I was not expecting that (not sure what I was expecting). And the way you describe the position of the vowel makes my little linguistic heart flutter. Thank you for posting this, and thank you algorithm for suggesting.
Shoutout to the woman singer -Rosie Gaines.
i think it's safe to say, this is such a feel good song. As a 90's child, i can never not smile listening to this song.
Please do Oh Happy Day from Sister Act 2!!!!
Yes!!!!
YES PLEASE!!
I love how they made a song for this movie that was legit believable as a big hit song and didnt phone it in
I already loved A Goofy Movie and Powerline (Tevin) singing in it. Hearing the break down of the actual singing and how you replicated the styles made me enjoy it more. As a non singer, non professional of any kind of music, I never thought about those nuances before until now. Aside from just enjoying the singing and music, I will now have you duplicating the exact sound in my head every time I re-watch this movie.
My favorite part of this was towards the end when him and the female singer were doing a call-and-response type of thing and Tevin was matching her note for note, same octave and everything.
Rosie Gaines! ❤❤
I love this song. The analysis really help to understanding the vocals behind it. Still get chills from this song every time.
My family is still waiting for the Power Line tour. They already have the t-shirt.
Hey if they can have Hatsune Miku and Squid Sisters concerts they can have Powerline.
I'm astonished by YOUR voice! Thanks for the cool breakdown video!
It wasn't just Tevin Campbell...it was also the legendary Rosie Gaines. He wasn't the only vocalist...Just saying...both have strong and beautiful sounds
I LOVE watching you break down some of my favorite movies from childhood! Can you do Prince of Egypt?? 😁
I love this whole nostalgia Disney train you’ve been riding given me a vocal break down and my childhood all at once love it. 😂💕
One of the best Disney songs of all time and it still slaps!
Omg…one of my favorite childhood movies!
Tevin's run at the end is still crazy 🔥🔥🔥
I really appreciate how he broke down every run. I'm no singer, but this guy is obviously very knowledgeable, and an incredible singer in his own right! Thank you for the video!
YESSS I LOVE THIS MOVIEEE!
I actually searched to see if the band was real or just for the film cuz I loved the songs so much 😂
This song and Stand Out had no business being so good. Classics. Makes me wish Tevin was called to do more songs for Disney movies. His voice is phenomenally good.
The detailed analysis with your own vocal skills adding to this breakdown is incredible and very useful for understanding what techniques you're breaking down, very good video.
One of the best movie songs EVER! Thank you for this
😂😂😂you be killing it !! This got so churchy
Can you do Powerline's song Stand Out? That's my song! 🤣
Literally made my day now that I’m seeing you do this one
YES YES YES!!!!! Have had this song stuck in my head for WEEKS! Thank you for this.
Love this movie!
This makes me smile so hard
🤯🤩Jarons truly a powerhouse vocalist!! I stan your ability to match pitch and then some😙👌🏽
I'm just stunned. What a great analysis. No sarcasm. Keep it up, please.
Most memorable moment from this clip for me is when we find out powerline is playbacking😅 (4:48)
💀 Powerline EXPOSED!!!!
my maaaan! I'm crying tears of happiness!!! powerline was my very first voice crush, this is one of the very first songs I learned in english, and I am livin' hearing this analysis! so good. so so good, thanks! will you be doing the other powerline song? I hope you do. I hope you have a wonderful day
I got my daughter singing this I can’t tell you how many times I seen that movie I had the tape, I know every song! She be like okay ma lol
Oooohh!! I saw Powerline and I clicked SO FAST!!
I use to love this as a kiddo
Please remake this you killing it with them notes big bro.
this acustic performance was insane
I spent years thinking this was Prince or someone i absolutely love it its amazing
Honestly didnt even know i needed this breakdown, what an amazing take on a wonderful memory. Thank you , definitely walked away with a much bigger appreciation of the artists involved here. Now I have some music homework to get on.
Oh boy! How do I get vibrato (or even just control) in my voice like you?! Gosh that was amazing!
I love this movie, thanks for doing it. ❤
Don't forget the great Rosie Gaines is in this song as well on backup
I’ve been WAITING 😭💐💐💐💐
Now I want to watch this movie LOL
As a linguist, I supremely appreciate your analysis of the place of articulation as well. And your perfect voice pairs perfectly with it!
I absolutely LOVE that you did this video! Tevin is amazingggg. You’re my fave vocal coach on TH-cam. I watch many but you combine knowledge and personality with your own absolutely gorgeous voice and I adore you!
Your pitch matching is very impressive 👍
I would love to hear your rendition of this song bro, you have an amazing voice
Still one of my favorite songs in a Disney movie. It's so good and so fun. Tevin Campbell and Rosie Gaines killed it. And Powerline! Always my first cartoon crush 🥰
jaron is to voice, as jiron is to strength - fire vid
One of my favorite songs, I listen to it a lot, it puts me in such a good mood❤
Yall imagine if Tevin Campbell did a whole powering album
Love the analysis and your singing! Thanks for sharing!
You’re such a huge ray of light. I needed this today, the song and the vibe . Thanks so much man
Since we're on a Disney kick...could you do Beauty & the Beast by Celine Dion and Peabo plus Peabo and Regina Belle on A Whole New World. Not Disney but would also love for you to do the songs from The Prince of Egypt
