- BrahMos officials have now claimed that the supersonic cruise missile which was test-fired by the Indian Navy warship INS Delhi on Tuesday, created a big hole in an abandoned navy ship. The successful maiden BrahMos firing by INS Delhi from an upgraded modular launcher once again demonstrated long range strike capability of BrahMos along with validation of integrated network-centric operations from frontline platforms. The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Sukhoi fighter jet on the Eastern seaboard. Watch this video for more details.

@@sparkly3989 if it was entry/exit then the trajectory doesn't match. That is, in case of through hole, the trajectory of the missile would need to be sort of parallel to sea surface. Whereas actually it would come from above and have downwards orientation on descent. Also, given the acclaimed speed of missile, there would be significant damage to the top of the ship.
@@jimit2688 man, it's a sea skimming missile if missile comes from above then radars can paint it easily but brahmos has a capability to fly at lowest altitude up to 2 metre above sea level in order not get detected and it can go as high as
11 kms above the sea level. It's not a ballistic missile which goes to space first and then comes down with the speed of 20-30 mach.

@@ParulRana9 yes because the misile that hit russian warship was subsonic so atleast the velocity of brahmos is 4 times greater and you know that k.E = 1/2 Mv^2 so squaring 4 will give you 16 and it is also to be noted that mass of brahmos is more than that subsonic missile which again increases K.E

If you look at the image of the damaged ship, the blast looks like it happened on the inside hence the metal is curving outwards. A missile that hits from the outside without a warhead will not show a blast like this, it will just show a hole in the ship. Very strange if there was no warhead and no blast post impact.
Even I was wondering the same and searching for comments anyone noticed this .The blast happened from inside in these images.

It's no big deal, the target ship is a stationary object with no defences to counter missiles, no close range guns (gatling guns), etc. so no big deal, it would be interesting if in a real battle scenerio how brahmos would counter ship defence systems.
We had already tested that radars of our neighbours are failed to detect brahmos so.... fingers crossed

In real scenario we won't be sending one bhramos but multiples, and all those would have same precision and accuracy, that's the point. So it's not that important to make targeting ship defence ready, tho it could be.
