Eli - To answer your question, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive has a microSDHC card built in as its internal storage. Other microSD/microSDHC cards (up to 32GB) can be swapped into the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive.
Hi Eli, been dipping in & out of your vids for awhile now. Since I subscribed i seem to understand much more ! Having said that i like to hear about your life also. Your business's you've run are you a internet millionaire ??? Any thoughts on doing a bio. Any how what ever you decide..... Love your work man ! Thanks.
Yup! Got this two months ago & it does have the removable storage just like yours! You can indeed use the app for iOS, Android, and the browser from any wifi device with internet capabilities. Price? About $65 bucks at BestBuy. They adapted a internet connection passthru by putting your network settings via the browser accessible settings of the device & voila! Internet connection + your files in one connection! Awesome for on the go! Transfer rates thru wifi are decent, but I'm sure they capped them to conserve battery life! Bluetooth? Now that would be draggingly slowwww... which is why they went with wifi! Some video formats(mkv) aren't recognized in the android app which sux, but most everything it can copy then play if can't be streamed thru the app.
Thanks for the review..I'm waiting for my 16GB model from Newegg Canada. Thinking of using it mostly for streaming movies to my android tablet. Take care.
Eli can you get Sandisk to send you the encryption, XOR, ECC and any other information that we need to recover their flash drives when their controller goes bad? We can work something out here :) We see a lot of these drives go bad and unfortunately these are one of the most unrecoverable Flash drives out there. Much appreciation
Hi, I love your reviews, and a great fan of your tutorials. Cool work, keep it up. A request - planning to buy FoxL V2 Platinum portable speakers. Will be great to get your views on it. Thanks in advance.
Thank you good sir! This helped me feel better about getting a wireless usb flash drive. I don't own one yet, however I think I will be getting one now. I saw a 16gb for $24 at walmart. Unfortunately I need something bigger. And I also can't run iOS 8 efficiently on my phone. Anyways, thank you very much! I know this is near 3 years old now but it actually answered some questions. Also you look like my brother, so that's cool. Lol. Liked for great justice!
This is great for the Apple people who are file transfer impaired. Just tested this for the airline I work at, They work fantastic and will replace some paper products and good for maintenance crews. The PDF reader doesn't use the bookmarks...it's a very basic reader. You can however open files with whatever app you want.
Seriously dude ... this video could have been 3 minutes long, but you repeat yourself so many times. Interesting info, but the repetition is absolutely maddening.
Hi, I've been dying to get one of these but the new one from Sandisk does not allow one to swap out the micro sd, its a fixed flash memory. Any idea if there is a current model of this or anything like it that allows micro sd to be swapped out. Thanks
If I am teaching or lecturing a class, can I use this to share a file with students? How many students can access notes or ppt file simulataneouly from their smartphones?
so yes you can read files via the web service but how about navigating to the ip address of the device? wouldn't you be able to transfer files wirelessly to and from the device?
Yes you can! You need to reformat, and partition, no big deal--less than 3 minutes. Works for 128GB as well as 64. Here's how: Download and install Easeus Partition Master (free) www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm Insert microSD into computer (I use a USB adapter--more sure, and faster). Rt click on drive>format>NTFS>select & done. Open Easeus and identify and highlight drive. At top of screen, click Resize, go to dialog and bleed off 300MB or so. Now, top of screen, click Format>Fat 32. Now, at left top of screen, click Apply, and wait 'til done. Close program. Find drive in Computer, Rt click>properties-should see about 59.xxGB as FAT 32. Load some video, safely remove. Test result in drive. Should be golden. Good luck! David
AWESOME Review, thank you. :) Exactly qwhat I was looking for... ok running to the amazon store to buy one. :) ooh and for those that dont know. - Western Digital now owns SanDisk :)
I will be watching for these to be available in the Philippines. Wondering how the battery is changed/charged? The size issue is common to many USB devices. The computer manufacturer could give more space as a remedy but the USB device manufacture is the correct place to solve the issue. Until then we need to use USB hab. bob
I might get one when I can pick one up at the local walmart for $19.95. Most of the time I have easier access to a usb port than a wireless connection that I can bother to configure, at least in the environments that I work in.
So you've sold me. This is exactly what I was looking for for my ipad. But I'll need to research to see if I can open vids in vlc using the ipad app. If so there is absolutely no reason for me to never upgrade to any model of ipad than an entry level. Thank you sir.
So I'm wondering, is the server OS on the Micro SD or on some other storage location? If it's on the SD, maybe one could reformat it and put a Linux server OS on it? If so, that would be a lot better, since I just setup an Ubuntu server. Plus with that, one could simply ftp data to and from it, thus making it readable and writable wirelessly.
Soo the support has ended for these, and I found one at a thrift store and bought it. Its pretty cool and still works, only the app is not supported anymore so theres no way to transfer TO the device. However, if I add it as a network drive on my phone, what would I need to do do get that to work? I've put in the IP Address and can connect to it but cannot see anything..hmm.
Great review. Here is the deal. This thing has great potential, but It doesn't serve my needs if I can't upload from a remote computer without the app. You mentioned a web server. I have been snooping around in the file system, but can't find any PHP or HTML files to mess with. So, how does it SERVE? When you go to SANDISK.com is SANDISK actually serving from their site? If so, how could I load it with my own PHP files that will allow me to upload files? That would be really useful.
I don't get it, he said we can only ready from it but others Reviewers say we can also upload to it as well!! what is the correct answers! or how do we know the difference from the Wireless Flash Drives so we don't get them mixed up. In addition does this work with android phones as well?
Hey, can I connect this SanDisk to the USB port on my PC, see the files on the Windows Explorer like a regular memory stick and browse the files wirelessly from a another computer or phone at the same time?
Sandisk Q&A States the usb will support up to 128 GB microSD card. I put a 64GB in and it works fine for me. The app on the other hand sometimes sticks with the file open and freezing the app screen but I just hit the home button on my iPhone and turn off the Wi-Fi and that works fine. It is just on certain files audio that happens. All said I am very happy with this Wi-Fi USB flash drive.
Imagine 1 TB, anyone that gives seminars needs this. Sell these with a book on them, the next classroom text books loaded for each students class list. Hmmmmm
+Eli the Computer Guy This is about half the price of the Ibridge by Leef I just bought,,,32 gigs....80 bucks.. Have you tried the Ibridge? If so Would I be better off getting the Sandisk and saving 40 bucks, or do you thing the Ibridge is worth the extra 40 bucks?
This solution sounds perfect for something that I need to implement. But what is the number of concurrent users that can connect to it for text files eg documents, spreadsheets?
With the 16 and 32 connect flash drive like the one you have shown you can not use a 64 gb sd card. You must buy the $100 64gb sdxc then you can upgrade up to 2tb in the future. The one you have only works with sdhc card that will only work upto 32gb.
Hi, I have enjoyed all of your videos I have seen so far including this one but in this case I was hoping for info on how to fix or retrieve data on a Lexar Jumpdrive Secure. Its silver and black. It's an older one and it was doing fine until I dropped it on a concrete floor. It landed flat on its side. I presumed it was ok but the next time I used it on a computer, the indicator on the computer came on for a few seconds and then went off and hasn't worked since. I took it apart to see if I could determine the problem and a little metal piece fell out. It's about a half inch long and almost a quarter inch tall. It says on the top "48,000 CK" It's on a very thin piece of black plastic. I thought about soldering it back on but not sure what direction it should go or if that is even the problem. It would be great if it can be fixed but I would be content with getting data transferred to my new jumpdrive. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dan St. Louis, Mo.
can I connect to the Wireless drive AND internet at the same time? i.e. while driving stream music from the drive AND still have LTE service for data to use google maps, get emails etc?
I want to display a xl sheet on tv. can I have this stick connected to laptop and have the xl sheet updated and then connect the smart tv to this Wi-Fi stick to display the xl sheet? pls advise
I didn't have luck connecting to the wireless flash drive in my Note 4. Even after I updated the firmware for the flash drive. Sometimes was able to connect, sometimes didn't, and sometimes the App crashed. It works only with small files. Do not attempt to upload videos over 100 megabytes, it is very, very, slow and when it has uploaded 10%, the app restart the process again. This is very annoying. The concept of a wireless flash drive is good, but the technology is still in baby steps. I returned the wireless flash drive to Best Buy.
It actually is a FLASH DRIVE not THUMB DRIVE, the name came from Memorex for marketing purposes, they are no longer made, now they are called TRAVEL DRIVE. People tend to use the wrong term to these devices, they are FLASH memory not THUMB memory.
I hear everyone complain about this guy's review and I think it was a great review keep up the fantastic work thanks again for the info sir
How much files can be copied at a time??
Because you don't understand what this is made for, obviously..
Eli - To answer your question, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive has a microSDHC card built in as its internal storage. Other microSD/microSDHC cards (up to 32GB) can be swapped into the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive.
This little flash drive is so cool. I too have used SanDisk flash drives. I would really like to get my hands on one. Love it.
You can add one through the config screen.
whats the length of transfering a 1gig file to it wirelessly, just for reference.
Awesome vid. Love the concept and eventuality will be able to read and write wirelessly. That will be awesome.
Thanks.
Why do you think it was made so you can download to it from a mobile device but not from a computer. Was it a technical issue or security concern?
Can I leave it plugged into the wall USB socket and stream video from it?
I think he is doing a good job explaining to newbie who do not know.
Thanks for the review..I'm waiting for my 16GB model from Newegg Canada. Thinking of using it mostly for streaming movies to my android tablet. Take care.
can you admin lock it like a router would? seems like a no brainer to have a password to enter the sever feature
Hello Eli,nice review there.
Will sandisk.com work if the host computer does not have an internet access?
Eli can you get Sandisk to send you the encryption, XOR, ECC and any other information that we need to recover their flash drives when their controller goes bad? We can work something out here :) We see a lot of these drives go bad and unfortunately these are one of the most unrecoverable Flash drives out there. Much appreciation

the only review you can actually understand
does the security option at 5:00 allow you to setup a password to prevent others connecting to this device?
Awesome. Perfect for accessing music, video or other entertainment without using data. Gotta have one.........
THANKS FOR THE REVIEW
Thank you good sir! This helped me feel better about getting a wireless usb flash drive. I don't own one yet, however I think I will be getting one now. I saw a 16gb for $24 at walmart. Unfortunately I need something bigger. And I also can't run iOS 8 efficiently on my phone.

Liked for great justice!
Great review Eli... are you aware of any wireless SD card readers that could connect to iPhone / Smartphone?
thx for the review, intresting flash drive
there one question. how do charge it?
I saw this today at Bestbuy. It said nothing about Linux. If this is using only web browser, it should, right?
This is great for the Apple people who are file transfer impaired. Just tested this for the airline I work at, They work fantastic and will replace some paper products and good for maintenance crews. The PDF reader doesn't use the bookmarks...it's a very basic reader. You can however open files with whatever app you want.
Seriously dude ... this video could have been 3 minutes long, but you repeat yourself so many times. Interesting info, but the repetition is absolutely maddening.
Thanks for the video, IE ? really ? aren't you the computer guy ? :)
What is the battery duration ? have you run nessus or something else on it ?
Fair review, thanks.
Hi, I've been dying to get one of these but the new one from Sandisk does not allow one to swap out the micro sd, its a fixed flash memory. Any idea if there is a current model of this or anything like it that allows micro sd to be swapped out. Thanks
you can put another size card in it. i bought the 16gb version and put a 32 gb card in it
The 16GB and 32GB versions are the same unit. The 64GB version has different firmware. You can't put a 64GB card into the 32GB unit.
Can i transfer files from laptop to usb wirelessly?
If I am teaching or lecturing a class, can I use this to share a file with students? How many students can access notes or ppt file simulataneouly from their smartphones?
I got this and it is nice. I want a second. Would you suggest this or the SanDisk Connect 64GB Wireless Media Drive?
thanks for showing me this video
so yes you can read files via the web service but how about navigating to the ip address of the device? wouldn't you be able to transfer files wirelessly to and from the device?
Thank you for the review. Think I'll add this one to my arsenal '-}
Hi, great review, is there a 128 GB wireless flash drive version?
You don't need one--just re-format and partition your 128 GB card--see my reply to Lord Vader, above.
David
So can we swap a 64gb micro Sd card
DID ANYONE FIND OUT ?
max is 32gb card
Yes you can! You need to reformat, and partition, no big deal--less than 3 minutes. Works for 128GB as well as 64. Here's how:
Download and install Easeus Partition Master (free) www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
Insert microSD into computer (I use a USB adapter--more sure, and faster). Good luck!

Can I still stay connected to the internet simultaneously?
yep
AWESOME Review, thank you. :)
Exactly qwhat I was looking for... ok running to the amazon store to buy one. :)
ooh and for those that dont know. - Western Digital now owns SanDisk :)

Dose it still not allow you to write on it on WiFi? I was almost sold on it until that feature mention or so was not included with the batteries.
Good review, thanks. But it's never called a micro SSD, it just isn't.
So you've sold me. This is exactly what I was looking for for my ipad. But I'll need to research to see if I can open vids in vlc using the ipad app. If so there is absolutely no reason for me to never upgrade to any model of ipad than an entry level. Thank you sir.
I enjoyed the review. Thank you. A little extension cable would help with the size of the device.
Bought one. Works great. Secure and can connect to internet simultaneously. I haven't tried swapping out the micro sd card yet but want to.
Please do a review of the new kickstarter gadget, that's like this SanDisk unit, but maybe even better, called iLuun.
Cool gadget.. is that you on 4:04?
Yes it is the thumb drives virtual domain so it will connect to the thumb drive instead of actually going to scandisk.com
Does the thumbdrive have an wep or wpa key?
when you connect to the sandisk network will you loose internet connectivity on the computer?
Soo the support has ended for these, and I found one at a thrift store and bought it. What about the power for the wifi stick
Is there any portable hard drive with the same capabilities?
Just to clarify ... can the device read a micro SD (from a camera) and then transmit the images to a tablet?
This is cool but it would be nice if it could connect as a node on a wireless network and then you could mount it as a network drive on a computer.
I wonder which is faster the media drive or usb stick?
Is it for sale now I want one!
the micro sd card is included?
Yes you can use 64GB microSDXC cards but they need to be specially formatted as per ... kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8075/kw/wfd
Is there a way for the flash drive to give off an internet connection
Hey, can I connect this SanDisk to the USB port on my PC, see the files on the Windows Explorer like a regular memory stick and browse the files wirelessly from a another computer or phone at the same time?
Can you connect with phone?

Can you connect to this flash drive via Bluetooth?
any idea what this might be, I Uploaded images to my USB 2.0 Flash Drive when I try to view them on my printer I can;t see all the images
Can you connect the pc to the home wifi network, yes or no???
This solution sounds perfect for something that I need to implement.
But what is the number of concurrent users that can connect to it for text files eg documents, spreadsheets?
+MrIllusion up to three i believe. or five. download the app, it says it there.
This is out long time ago. And I just discovered it. So if I want to do a power point from my phone or tablet to the over head projector can I do it?
Sandisk, can i swap up to 64 or more GB micro card into this new device?

I'm going to buy the 64g. Are you sure I can upgrade later? Thanks.
How to use & price?
hey are you sponsored or partnered with sandisk to get free stuff for review
Is it compatible to windows phone?

I got one final question. If I connected the flash drive to my IPad Air, could I put my mobile games on it?
+Tyler Posch sure you could but it would not be playable.
I am using a 64 BG Medion flash drive does this work the same?
Hi, Does .avi Format works with the sandisk flash memory , even the avplayer is already installed in the ipad ????
How much does it cost?
I didn't have luck connecting to the wireless flash drive in my Note 4. Even after I updated the firmware for the flash drive. A good idea, but I wouldn't want to lose my Internet connection while the WiFi is used to connect to the drive. Bluetooth 4.1 could work?
+iftibashir You can connect the drive to your wifi, so you can use internet while connected to the drive.
+Suten S how would you do that?
けつを食べる - I assume one would need to input the wireless details into the drive itself, so it is used as a pass through....
Yeah
this is great for the car when you are traveling ...
thats cool, good for documents and pics, if you need a little bit more space.
I can use a SanDisk Cruzer Glide 2.0 and encrypt it on my Google Chromebook????
Does its data run out and how can one top up?
Can the Wireless Flash Drive without discounting the main Wifi while using the device ( IOS or android )?
It actually is a FLASH DRIVE not THUMB DRIVE, the name came from Memorex for marketing purposes, they are no longer made, now they are called TRAVEL DRIVE. People tend to use the wrong term to these devices, they are FLASH memory not THUMB memory.
hi, i was wondering if i can buy the 16GB version and then insert my 32GB microsd card?? :)
i like sandisc flash drives as well so much so ive got 15 of them mostly 8gb and one 32gb
I used 512 Gb and it works. The issue is that the mobile apps no longer work (end of life). Any alternative software for mobile phones???
