    Damn that first cut from you holding the switch and putting it in the dock is SMOOTH AF. I've watched it 5 times now trying to find the cut.

    Never played it but knew about the game. I think I’ll eventually get this. Great video Kurt.

    I have not played dragons lair, but it seems cool! I'm am an 11 year old who loves old 90s video games and I'm supremely I've never heard of this! I saw it's on the app store for 5 bucks, I might get it, I really like this game!

    1984, 8yo me with my uncle at the arcade - he knew all the QTEs and duped me into thinking he was 100% controlling this amazing cartoon video game. Wasn't till ~5 years later I could scrape 20c coins together and saw it at the arcade, went to play it, and was like "wtf is this shit?". Good uncle long-con.

      Dude, that is MASSIVELY impressive he knew the moves at that time on a cabinet... That means he had to learn it by spending money, and that blows my mind. Wonder how much he spent on it 🤔

      People act like it's learning japanese. Is pretty intuitive for the most part, move away from danger or toward the exit, but sword when the sword flashes. The first time i played this i got through a couple scenes pretty easy.

    I've always admired this game from afar. Great video Kurt 👍🏻

      Unless you have a genuine curiosity about it, or are a Don Bluth fan, or history fan, I really think that's the best approach with the game

    Such a classic! I am a fan of that easy mode that’ll pop up the correct input right when you should press it, it helps me a lot with knowing what to do but still timing is killer lol.

    • @KurtIndovina

      I'll never use it. I want the pain.

    • @robrick92
      @robrick92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KurtIndovina I agree. Half the fun was discovering the inputs and timing myself through trial and error.
      My feeling of mastery of this game would not have been nearly as satisfying, if I had just memorized the directions that pop up on screen.

    Its easier to me. But this is the only quick time event game I like. I played this in the arcade, so I love this trilogy and I love Don Bluth.

    I was 8 years old when this game appeared in arcades, convenience stores, donut shops, laundromats etc. I loved arcade games as most kids did at that time since there wasn't much in the way of home consoles back then. When this game showed up it blew everyone's minds! I absolutely loved it and was completely enthralled by it. I was so obsessed I used to jump around the playground with a long stick pretending I was Dirk the daring making the click/beep sound before I did any movements lol. Great memories!

    • @KurtIndovina
      @KurtIndovina  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GAH I've only seen this cabinet in person once a few years back at Galloping Ghost in Chicago, and it unfortunately barely worked. I can't imagine what it must have been like to just see this thing at laundromats, etc. - that's amazing.

      @@KurtIndovina It was pretty exciting. The place I played it the most they had the difficulty set super high so the timing on the moves was really strict and you had to play each scene many many times and also mirrored which was really challenging. After spending what seemed like millions of dollars over the course of the summer I finally beat the game. The owner of the Burger Baron where it was located gave me a free burger and milkshake as a reward as he was watching me from behind the counter. That is one of my favorite childhood memories.

    • @KurtIndovina
      @KurtIndovina  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's extremely accessible, but youd get good value just out of watching a playthrough of it. It amounts to 12 minutes... And that's it. BUT, I've spent hours learning it in the past.

    Played it in the Arcade when you weren't likely born.

    • @KurtIndovina
      @KurtIndovina  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That probably is likely, as it's pretty tough to find an any arcade these days. I played it at Galloping Ghost in Chicago and it was brutal.

    Dissapointed it didn't get a physical release for Xbox.
    Edit: Will probably get it on a big sale though.
    Idk that's just my reaction towards digital games. Why should I pay more if a disc version is cheaper.
    Also because of the inevitable server shutdown. 😑

    You should check out the GameBoy Color version, it's a conversion that didn't need to be made, but they did and it's incredible considering the hardware.
