This game is hugely distinct from others. It looks like a cartoon animation. And I feel like it needs very quick response speed to predict where monster or somthing is comming from. It's a bit hard for me to play it. But lt's a great game.

Yeah, as explained in the review it can be very difficult, you will need quick reflexes, and it helps to remember the pattern of the scenes. Truly unique game!

Was on the fence on this one but you have convinced me. Love that you can watch the whole story play out like cartoon on Saturday morning. The nostalgia alone is worth the price of admission

I loved playing this in the arcade, even though it cost a dollar a pop when the other games were a quarter.... Space Ace was great too.... never even saw Dragons 2..

I got the set on PS4 from LRG. Having played it for forever on Sega cd, it was basically like playing the game for the first time with these new transfers. Holy cow. The Sega cd is also true to arcade as there are no screen prompts at all, so I'm glad they added that for new players to be able to get a hang of how it works. All in all this re-release has REALLY gotten me excited again for this franchise, and for animated FMV games in general as I greatly preferred live action fmv titles instead, but now I'm more willing to step back and give like time gal and road avenger a go.

I've played the original Dragon's Lair and Space Ace (even on the arcade machines) but I somehow missed the second part of Dragon's Lair. Though frustrating as the games can be, this collection seems like a really good way of experiencing the games today.

Thanks for the feedback! Did you manage to pick it up? As someone who has played the originals in the arcade hall, I wonder what your take is on the collection!

@@NintendoKid: Not yet, my want-list is quite long and this has a low priority, but I've played the games on Atari too. But I guess this version will be way smoother overall than both the arcade and on computer. I also expect it to be almost as immersive as the arcade due to being able to play it in handheld mode. The computer version didn't feel so good.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am all too aware of long want-to, get-to or play-to lists... No issues there! If and when you do get a chance to get to it, be sure to let me know though!

@@NintendoKid: Whenever I see the price is decent enough, I'll probably snag it.

It absolutely is! It's a true classic you should have played once in your life. I believe it goes on offer frequently though so use that to your advantage I'd say!

Should have had correct aspect ratio and would have been nice to be able to have attract mode running without choosing it from the extras menu.
As much as you wax lyrical, this was a game that alienated and conflicted plenty of players - 50v a go was expensive then, you could play most games for 10c - the game was pretty confusing when first encountered - game over without realising the game started!!
Stay with and you'd need to coin feed a mini fortune to learn it.
Still a cool one in the end and innovative.
No dragon's no lno fmv later on.
It's a niche genere but the animation and history keep this compelling afyer all these years.
I still think consoles could have a better release at some point - the way you get your console interface keyboard to input name for high score pisses me off and again aspect ratio is wrong - put the correct one in the options amateurs.
    Viva DL.

It's just not a real game.
It's basically pressing on the right button or direction in time to keep the cartoon going.
And now the hardware is so powerfull, that they can now make a real game that looks like a cartoon.
So in my opinion this has only nostalgic value and 0 playabillty value
