The argument is certainly reasonable in general, but shouldn't be used to undermine the argument or interrupt the discussion about the particular inequality of black people (at the time) and which was at the center of that shows discussion.
It was not clever of Jim Brown to insinuate things about the security guard.
Otherwise however the governor's arguments are all weak.
How can he believe no race is inferior and inequality is cruel yet insist on the freedom of people to avoid living/learning) working with people from another race? He accepts a differentiation where he says he does not want to see one.
He also promotes a freedom of choice that does not exist in equal form for other relationships. If you go to a diner, you get served by the waiter, doesn't matter if you like the waiter. You can choose to go to another diner or not go at all but you do not choose the waiter and less on reasons of race.

I'm sure that goes against your PC POV but you'll probably live to see why that was a very bad road to go down. Sooner or later your PC friends will try to force their views on everything on everyone and that includes you. Look around. The left is eating its own now. They will come after you eventually. Mao's Cultural Revolution is your example. Your parents don't think right - turn them in so they get murdered by the state. The road you endorse will destroy this country. And I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut they will find some reason to come after you.

Well, the problem is that back then those blatant statements ought to have the effect you describe much because the way discourse was structured was heavily influenced by where those people were from. So the retoric Maddox uses was effective on certain regions but couldn't stand a chance on the centers of discourse of the time. The far right speakers of today are way more prepared in the art of dressing their arguments as reasonable even on a aesthetic level even because of the progress of mass media so the far-right is way more aware of the retoric employed by their counterparts therefore far more able to hide hideous intents on politeness and skillfull debate. If you look at the way Ben Shapiro or someone (not so relevant right now) Milos Greeksurname frames the conversation you can see the way they bend the argument their way. Anything can sound reasonable if well spoken.

Why would you be a proponent separating people based on specific characteristics, but then objecting to speaking about their unique needs given a sociopolitical landscape that has treated them differently for hundreds of years on those exact same characteristics?

Jim Brown is a terrific man, and an intelligent inspiration for others. What he did in 1964 is a model in how to handle a "plantation operation" like the NFL, and being the best player, and face of the league he gave a grand F-you to the league. Jim was on the movie set of "The Dirty Dozen" in Europe. The team, the Cleveland Browns, threatened to fine him as it was time to come home, and practice. He then decided to retire this paraphrased quote,
"I'v decided to move on from football as I can make as much $$$$ acting as I can running the football, and it's much easier on the knees." Jim was only 29 at the time.

Prime exsample, Lester Maddox was a seperatist well so was Marcus Garvey but people like to pretend that things are going to get better when people refuse to acknowedge the need for seperate social classes. Bet hey what do I know? It used to be the norm you know like people actually understood that social class and intelligence relates. You can try arguing it but facts still remain that IQ, amongst different classes changes from race to race.
