My 14 year old daughter came home from the library with his autobiography today. Its truly one of my proudest moments as a father. I find it a shame its not in the curriculum in her school. I even let her stay up an hour past bedtime so she could read. lol I have always loved her excitement for history, and differing perspectives. I have sensed her infinite curiosity that I have always had, and tried to foster it the best of my ability. Thank you for posting this interview/discussion. I am going through a lot of his older speeches and interviews while writing time-stamped notes, so I can rewatch them back with her and give perspective on whats being said, while also hearing her perspective, or what she thinks is being said. Alex Haley lied a lot in that so called autobiography. He hardly got to speak to Malcolm. It broke my heart to find out the truth. That's 1 of the few books I ever read on my own from front to back. This is a masterclass in rhetoric. Watch how he refuses to let the white guys control the conversation. He understands exactly what they're doing and is relentless about refusing to walk into their traps, whether it's the thing about the name he was born with, or trying to stir up crap between Civil Rights organizations. He's not even slightly fazed; you can tell he was used to this. He knows it's coming, he sees it, and he absolutely refuses to allow it. He maintains civil language even when a lesser man would just get angry, not for any other reason than knows what it takes to win. This is what real power looks like.
You couldn't summarize it better
While no doubt racism exists across social spectrums in America, between all groups, even White Against White (Irish) and Black Against Black (Africans) and Hispanics Against HIspanics (Mestizos), it's also a fact if you were to watch the other archival City Desk shows, this is just how people talked back then, after WW2, when Blacks were already normalilzed in the North. The reality of what you are watching in history, is Malcolm X was about to be assassanated by Elijah Mohammed.

REALLY? YOU WANT HIS WORDS OF SEPARATION TO CONTINUE?
@@salamjihad3449 Hello Salam.
Separation is already in place.
Malcolm was speaking of self sufficiency, independence, and self defense.
When a young adult leaves the home of their parents to begin their life, they step out seeking self sufficiency, independence, and the skills of self defense.
Are the parents offended because the young adult wants to be autonomous? Isn't that nature?
In the case of Africans in America, they are afraid to leave the house to become independent, even after the landlords have told them, out loud and egregiously via laws and violence, "we don't want you here so we're going to make it as uncomfortable for you as possible until you leave."
In this light, what problem(s) do you see with separation?
@@Still-Learning EVERY RACE HAS THAT PROBLEM1 LOOK AT HOW WHITES ARE BEING CONDEMNED JUST FOR BEING WHITE! BEING BLAMED AS X-SLAVE OWNERS !! ASIANS BEING BLAMED FOR STARTING THE VIRUS ! @@salamjihad3449 You should understand that I am Asian and I can speak for myself. Yes, we're getting blamed for a virus but what relevance is that to Malcolm X or anything that he advocated for? Malcolm X was a great man and did not advocate the separation of races with a motivation to screw over another. It was solely for black rights. Not only that, but he later came to view white people differently (more like humans). Why are you speaking about white people like they're being oppressed? Being condemned for being white is nowhere close to slavery or lynching or raping. Nowhere close to the oppression that black people have experienced.

Doug Green The Quran teaches us Muslims to love one another whatever skin color u are. Prophet Muhammad once said that the Arab is no superior to the black or the white and the black or white is not superior to the Arab all are equal to the eyes of God and are only different by their righteousness and good deeds. FYI David Wood has been exposed as a pseudo academic with actually no knowledge of any religious studies. If u want to see proof watch the debate between him and Mohammed Hijab (David Wood was totally embarrassed and exposed for his nonsense he preaches)
Solomon Amico he left the Nation of Islam. After that he became a normal Muslim. He became a normal Muslim after experiencing the pilgrimage of hajj which changed his outlook on life. So don’t say something u don’t know about he was a Muslim and he left the NOI cult. He died shortly after becoming an orthodox Muslim. So yeah dude (btw I’m also Muslim) 😊
God bless this man Malcolm X who was so incredibly articulate, aware, intelligent & passionate about trying to enlighten society about the struggles of black people.
May his soul be at peace knowing how crucial he was at evoking positive change in the world. RIP the great Malcolm X. 🙏🏽❤
A disciplined, articulate, intelligent black man. No wonder they thought he was dangerous.
😂
To the white man, he was a major danger. An educated black man who is aware and is proud of his race, wanting nothing from the white man and with the will to go it on his own or die trying IS the cancer of the so called white supremacy and it's system.
It’s because all his points were valid and opposing arguments were invalid
He sought for black nationalism for a good reason, he fought for desegregation for a reason, he fought for black rights for a reason. Any racial discriminatory offence towards black people was completely unjustified and therefore invalidating every argument against black rights. But this coupled with the fact that Malcolm was extremely eloquent, articulate, realistic and intelligent which heightened his arguments and made them significantly more compelling.
Malcolm was arrested for burglary in Boston in 1946 and received a ten year prison sentence.
@@flatearth9140 and what r u trying to say?
My older brother used to speak of Malcolm X around the house. I didn't study his life until much later and the first thing that attracted my attention was when he himself predicted that he would be murdered before he could read his own book. 50 years ago, that was a big thing. It took me all of 3 days to read his book. He went to prison for burglary and while there, he taught himself the meaning of every word in the dictionary. The first word being "Aardvark." I incorporated certain principles of his life and conduct into my own life and they are firmly in place to this day. Things like a love for intellectual elevation, honesty, courtesy, courage, discipline, commitment. I learned the importance of doing research, and accuracy when reporting. Thank you El Hajj Malik El Shabazz.

Malcolm ⚔️ is the best civil rights leader ever in the USA history.
Brother Malcolm mentioned that the problem was human rights not civil rights. He was thinking higher.
I would say in the world.
Joe the king Hawk :Yes!...along with Khalid Mohammed!
Just in case you didn't know this, Malcolm noted in his autobiography that he wanted to help Martin Luther King. Malcolm and King were like the "good cop, bad cop" team. Although whites didn't like King either, they eventually gave in to his demands (in part) because listening to King's "nonviolence" was better than dealing with Malcolm and the Black Panthers' "violence."
Br Malcolm fought for human rights...not civil right's- civil is for corporations.
The way he said, "I never acknowledge it whatsoever" around 6:45. Amazing delivery. RIP brother.

I believe this is the ONLY color TV interview that is in existence. Thank you for posting.
It is one of the few Malcolm videos in color. Believe I have seen another brief clip. Many of these darker only, black skinned only, nationalists and activists did not know Malcolm was a lighter skinned man with red hair. It shocked me when I first learned of it. Melanin is not the only factor in evaluating who we are or how committed we are. Colorism is not just ignorant and stupid. Its counterproductive and antithetical to our overall goals.
@@person-xd3wb, I was committing about the technology during that time. Color was not even use until the mid 1960’s. That’s why it is so rare. I remember Batman, Bewitched and other TV shows would post “In Color” around 1966.
I definitely agree that colorism is beyond pathetic. People who uses colorism are mainly females who complain that men are not dating them. Yet Malcolm X married Betty, a dark skinned sista.
