Part 2 of my attempt to restore a 1997 Honda Fireblade CBR900RR-V. The bike has not been started in 3 years and has been off the road since 2016. I also believe it housed a family of rodents at some point…
This is my first ever attempt at anything beyond the usual oil change. I'm looking forward to getting this back on the road and learning some great lessons along the way.
This is my first blade and a kind of dream since I was a kid (now I’m a big kid).
On inspection it has:
Rusty Tank
Fork Seals gone
Missing Fuel Tap
Seized rear brake
Non functioning front brakes (well, they work a little)
Scored disks
Lots of rust
Needs new throttle and clutch cables

Ahahaha my back is still recovering from my one and wife still ain’t talking to me after stinking out the kitchen and using her hair dryer 😅

Hi mate, how long did you leave the Bicarbonate of Soda in the tank? I'm not getting great results from the vinegar
Hey buddy… I only left the Bicarb in for about half an hour as its purpose is to naturalise the acids in the Vinegar. How long have you left the vinegar in? You might just need to go for it again and leave it longer.
Mine didn’t look like it had worked until I got the pressure washer in on it! Turns of the vinegar had loosened it all up nicely.
Another option is to go for a second attempt but add either small stones or bolts and screws and shake the f**k out of it. Of course it’ll be a lot of fun getting them all out.

@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm it's been in for 24 hours so far, but I didn't exactly use industrial strength stuff, 5% from various shops and various types, ie malt, distilled, white... whatever I could get 22 litres of really 🤣
OK, so BiCarb for cleaning afterwards, got it
@@AshRowlandyou need the 30% stuff and leave for at least 5 days… I got mine from eBay! Bought 15 litres.. Every day sloshed it around a little.
