      My first time and hopefully last time for a while… Still gotta get that broken stud out 😅

    As soon as I'd have had any difficulty, front wheel, forks and radiator off. You can get full access, small wire brush to clean some off the loose rust off, proper blow torch with map gas, heat the studs till they're glowing, leave until cold and then give it a go.
    Ask me how I know 😂
    👍🏻

      Thanks for the great comment mate. I wish I had read this before I started 🤣
      Still, all part of the learning curve. Next time will be better (if there’s a next time) 😄

      @TheBucksBiker-lh2nm there's always a next time 😅
      The thrill of doing something like this at the end and you forget all about the pain. I own an RRV so I'm enjoying this series 👍🏻

      @@twowheelsquirrel really appreciate your kind comment mate… I’m enjoying this project so much I also have a feeling there’s gonna be other projects in the future. I really really hope my wife doesn’t read this though 😅

    The FireBlade was an awesome bike, I mean, proper badass, and still is. I remember them well and specifically my friend & neighbor who bought One brand new and was the subject of adoration from every other bike rider in the manor.
    It makes me sad to see how old the bikes [and us] have become and to see one in an aged state. The world turns, there's nothing we can do about that.....

      Very true… People and attitudes have changed and not for the better. Hopefully my little, and very amateur, attempt, at bringing this abandoned beauty back to life might inspire a few others to save these classics! For me I’m getting to own and one day ride the dream bike of my youth (midlife crises maybe).
      Thanks for the great comment mate 😊

    Why didn’t you remove the radiator to give you better access instead of struggling ?

      Lack of experience and brain power is my only excuse… All part of the learning curve. Next time I do this I’m dropping the radiator first 😃

    brings back memories changing my downpipes for stainless ..luckily i didnt have any snapped studs .it wasnt fun ..just one tip dump the wd40 .its no good a better penetrating oil gt85.its alot better at no more cost..im just on with a vfr800 the blade was a doddle to work on compared to the vfr..it would be easy to fall out of love with ..one tip check your reg rectifier there a common problem on them ..good luck with the rest buddy

      Thanks mate… I finished my WD40 so will give the GT85 a bash. I’m certainly getting through the stuff quickly on this old thing 😅
      Good bike the VFR800. I also have the VFR750!

    Exhaust studs can be a lot like Russian roulette sometimes.
