willys won the contract but the us government was worried willys couldn't build enough and wanted two factories in case one was bombed. ford and willys both had script bodies but the us government stopped both of them from displaying brand names in 1942. you can tell a willys from a ford by the front crossmember under the grille willys is a round tube ford has a square channel.
Thanks for another great informative video. In the days before phones with cameras, I used to draw crude diagrams on paper as to where parts go for reassembly and also lay the parts out in relation to where they fit - a bit like an exploded diagram. I like your father’s teaching method of pull it apart and figure it out. Most times reassembly is just a reverse process of how it came apart. The only time I came a little unstuck with this method as a kid was pulling apart something that was spring loaded and when the last bit of the thread came undone, the spring inside was strong enough to send bits flying everywhere. Took a bit more thinking that time to figure out the sequence for reassembly 🤣.
my xb used to gum up the carby just like that, if i left it longer than 2 weeks. Basically gave it a darn good seeing too with my right foot and it came good every time.
Just finished watching the episode, and from the last carby build one , i m sitting there thinking it will be dirty stuff in idle tube as you describe in that video , and my wife says i don't listen 😂, thanks again another top video . Any chance you could do a rebuild on a holden 6 cylinder for a episode, if you have the time .
Hello Rob stuart from wellard in perth here. My 1977 cf 220 bedford van has the 173 red engine, the Stromberg carby stared being rough having no idle now and having the accelerate to keep her happy. Suggestions please good sir?? Come do a video on the bedford of you like 😊
please please can you do a webber rebuild , you mentioned you cut your teeth on XE carbies , i have 6 vans and about 15 carbies , i really need help . im sure most ausssies with early falcons do 😊PLEEEEEEASE
Panel Van Man wants you to rebuild a Webber, which does go well on holden six red. Can I request wheel align, wheel alignment, wheels pointing forwards in a manner not to adversely wear the tyres out PLEASE ROB. I have done it with string and milk crates, is your method similar?
