Good morning everyone!!
Good morning dude!
Very thorough video I appreciate the help!!!
LOL, you pulled Goose in the garage and I thought, man that 40hp sounds badass. Then, you pan the camera to the engine stand 😂. Great video as usually! I'm just working out my H30/31 with an 009. I think I need a bigger main jet
30/31 is my favorite Solex... I'm actually gotten them running much better than a 34PICT on the same engine. 😁👍🏻
They are a great carb!
…somebody else on a chat said same thing. I hav 34 pict but considering 30/31. I assume u get roughly same power/performance? All i need is a different base plate adapter at the manifold i think.
Sounds good!!
just done that tune up on my 1641 VW gunner trike here in Scotland. followed all your vids on the AN 6/8 oil cooler and fuel systems. aGreat work
That's fantastic! Always liked trikes, happy to hear you're enjoying the channel. Appreciate the support!
Noticed you did not mention anything about the chock/CAM screw adjustment. A little more on the advance timing would have been nice.
Yeah man the Solex perplex 😂😂😂😂❤
Lol... so true, always tuned by ear.
Nice information.
Thanks brother!
Sounds good 👍
Thanks brother!
Thats 1 thing I always mess up, is adjusting the carb. Every time I try, I get a flat spot so I have to pay someone to do it
Thermostat In South Texas we don't need no stinking Thermostat !!!!!
Truth!
Say looked at your plug wires. They look off? Number 1 is in the back, then,4.3, 2 . Is this correct? I thought # 1 ,is in the front?
They are correct
so far most people say 2 1/2 to 3 turns inital adjustment on big screw. but I can't find what the inital adjustment is for the little screw . Mine is a 1600 engine with rebuilt carb. It will run for about 30 seconds.
It is the same initial adjust for both.
Thank you for the videos. Which distributor are you running with the H30/31 PICT? My old DVDA is giving me lots of headaches. Does the H30/31 have enough vacuum for the advance? Thanks!
SVDA... it's an electronic one I picked up from CIP1. Seems to advance fine under vacuum but I've read that the carb may not provide enough vacuum.
Take the blindfold off, put in a wideband O2. Then you know exactly what it is doing.

@@JWClassicVW Keep the mystery alive lol.
What distributor are you running on this?

You seem to have disconnected the vacuum from the carburetor but did not plugged the vacuum at the carburetor to set the timing. This is like tuning the engine with a vacuum leak!
That's true, good catch!
......That upper vacuum line is a ported line......no vacuum thru it at idle........Vacuum lines below the throttle plate see manifold vacuum at idle speeds.........
