One of the main weakenesses of protoss seem to be their low splitting potential. Because of their high supply cost and reliance on those adavanced units (multiple colossus or multiple disruptors/ high templars) to gain the upper had against terran, whenever terrain can divide their forces and attack multiple locations, the protoss have a hard time stopping them.
I've been saying this for years. There is a reason why zergs win most tournaments; its because they have mobile and cheap units. They're DESIGNED to be inefficient yet now that you have players that have mastered the race, they are good enough to avoid inefficiencies and utilize their micro to the fullest. Protoss players arent worse, they just don't have the same opportunity.
@@rat2244Protoss has never really managed to evolve past the deathball design. It's a fundamental issue the race has with gateway units not scaling well. Lings are effective for the entire game, and marines can be a usable mineral dump late game if you're desperate or you've cleared away the marine-killers on the other side. But zealots just can't compare to zerglings for run-bys or overall map presence, stalkers are an intentionally low-DPS unit because of their flexibility, and both adepts and sentries are essentially pointless past the early game. Warp prisms are probably the answer, but robotics is already having to crank out immortals, colossi, and disruptors 24/7 (with the occasional observer) just to keep up with T and Z so you can't really afford to spend too much time making prisms. Maybe it's just a players need to adapt issue? Toss players almost never use more than one prism at a time or maybe at most two (one for zealot drops, the other with the deathball.)
This is spot on. Also Protoss units are generally too slow (both movement and rate of fire) to be able to keep up with multipronged Zerg and Terran fights. It’s not that Protoss players at the professional level are less skilled, it’s just the race has built in a lower skill ceiling than the two other races, so a pro Protoss player’s full potential can’t be completely realized
@@dc8836 yeah not sure what the answer is at this point. The easiest method without breaking the game is to just nerf zergs flexibility, by decreasing creep growth. I think its a perfect nerf considering it doesn't affect lower levels and only affects GMs ability to see everything on the map and units to move faster. This will never happen though lol, in fact they just buffed the creep on the most recent patch for no reason at all. At this point I'm pretty sure they just really want zergs to win.
Nightmare's primary issue, it seems like he never often went on the attack or got aggressive. Once you give Gumiho room he's gonna reach out like a hydra, especially if you don't keep on the pressure. Byun could do that so he could tame, or exceed Gumiho.
It's one of the players accidentally hitting the ping location command, alt click or alt G, which is typically used to communicate to allies in a team game
@14:58. Seeing that colossus in production I already know those marines ain’t doing shit . Reminds me of one of my ladder games. Feels bad as a Terran lol
Not just that one. Extremely bad disruptors control by Nightmare in that game. At the end, he could have snipped the massive clumped up bio ball in the natural with his disruptors instead of recalling to throw the game away.
last match really shows lack of offline experience by someone who arguably had better plays and ideas vs the old guard, hope to see that player again and man do i miss watching these live
Can we talk about how bad the control for GuMiho was to close game 1 against Nightmare. I know he had pretty much won but he was just throwing away ghosts.
yea the +10 HP on observers is definitely gonna increase the protoss winrate at pro level tremendously (spoiler alert: after the patch protoss winrate will still be 0%)
lets be honest, pylon increased range does nothing in terms of balance for protoss scouting. building faster observers doesnt mean cheaper observers either. They still delay any tech by a large margin. And get scouted by ravens just as easily if you spread them across the map. Especially with the nerf on observers in terms of 'seeing' them, where they wiggle allot more intensely. makes them somuch worse. Like why even have them cloaked at all at this point? Maybe that is the solution tho. Give protoss observers an upgrade, where they morph like roaches into ravagers, wich cost gas. But change the cost for observers to minerals only, while removing its invisibility untill its upgraded. This would give protoss the option to not get gas starved by spamming observers. But it would also give allot of counterplay. early game observers might be put in spots where overlords are put, without requiring the invisibility. And it would allow protoss to spread them across the map, with easy counterplay. But it also means that you can still have your invisible observers in key positions where you dont want them to ever die. (they will still die tho). This change could even make it so the observers are made from the cybernetics core (wich sees no use besides teching and upgrades) where you can only research the invisibility upgrade when you have a robo. Increasing its mineral cost is not a big deal later game when protoss tech is out, and will cause choices between making an extra zealot or stalker or an observer during the early game. This would give protoss allot more visibility on the map, without affecting balance too much, it would even cause protoss who really want to be safe to build a second cybernetics (wich in turn allows for attack and defense air upgrades to be researched later on in the game giving it a much easier transition.
Terran pretty much hard counters Protoss, again due to Ghost EMP being far too strong, and the timing attacks with stim/shield with the insane DPS before Protoss has AoE out.
I did find it interesting the blind faith in creator seems odd he hasnt been relavant in so long. Nightmare outplayed him from the start. Feels like the casters are way behind the curve in following current skill levels.
>and the lion stims and goes in for another kill on the gazel ROFL TASTELESS XD noooo creator y u make disruptors against an army of the 1 protos ground unit that can dodge it's shots ;w; .....
Hate to see terrans like gumiho so effortless overcome almost any protoss, just because terran army supply stronger than protoss. BTW, from 6 to 3 years ago I was big of fan of Gumiho, when he played very special tactics, however now he just need to play relatively standard, without multitasking on the side of protoss and still beat top representatives of this race, that's ridiculous.

It seems that tvp is a lot of fun to watch until a lot of stuff happens and no matter what, Terran ends up 50 supply ahead with a unit comp that can be effortlessly split while the protoss seems up be a tight rope walker over alligators trying to balance a child in each arm. I'm not even a protoss player but the game is pretty boring.
As feedback, I really don't like the new observer this season, she is very choppy and fast. Also bring back the damn player game intros, I liked those and it's been a Hallmark of GSL forever.
