- The Valley of Flowers trek in Uttarakhand, also a national park is one of the most enchanting treks I've experienced. Along with it, the Yatra to the World's Highest Gurudwara, Hemkund Sahib, & World's Highest Lakmana Temple, was an arduous journey but fulfilling.
Starting from Govind Ghat, the trek spans 10-11 kilometres, leading to a stunning high-altitude Himalayan valley, part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.
To reach the Valley of Flowers National Park, you first travel to Pulna, 3 kilometres from Govindghat, using shared taxis or personal vehicles.
In Pulna, you'll need to register for the trek, which starts from there.
From Pulna, the trek to Ghangharia covers 10-11 kilometres and is moderately steep in places. Along the way, there are small dhabas where you can stop for breakfast or lunch. The final leg from Ghangharia to the Valley of Flowers is more challenging, with a steep 3-kilometer ascent. The trek offers breathtaking landscapes throughout.
Declared a national park in 1982 and later a UNESCO World Heritage Site, camping is prohibited inside the valley. The best time to visit is between July and September when the wildflowers are in full bloom, creating stunning views, but at that time monsoon in Uttarakhand is at its peak and can be devastating.
To reach Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal Lakshmana Temple, one needs to hike 6km on steep slopes.

But it is rainy season be careful!
Also note - NO POTTERS/mules are available on valley of flowers trail, only available on hemkund sahib trail

Risk rahega rainfall ka, plus too many landslides in Uttarakhand. But peak flowering during that time only. Although trek trails pr landslide nhi hote but highways pr khatra bna rehta hau

I'm planning to go hemkund sahib and valley of flowers in 1 week of August. Should I carry woolen clothes?
Hey, u should carry 1 rain jacket, poncho, 1 down jacket (because rain makes it cold), n socks ofcourse
Is it safe during last week of August?
Pls check rainfall forecast and twitter updates before going, usually it is time for rainfall to end, but since weather has become unpredictable and this anything can happen

It is! But pls keep checking twitter n news for updates because just one rainfall leads to landslides, last time Joshimath badrinath route got closed
Is trekking shoes mandatory
Depends on your fitness level n mindset. If u r new to trekking, then pls go for one size up trekking shoes, or if u feel comfortable walking in running shoes, then it is ok as well. But since mowadays it is slippery n rainy, only go for trekking shoes
