Fantastic detailed REVIEW on this KENWOOD TH - D74A that you did in the NEW QST ARRL MAGAZINE for April.
Well done (especially for me on using DV & DR) on many fronts and the statistics sheets. I see you shared billing
with the ARRL assistance fellow. Again you did a first class job and I'm really glad you did!

Well done - made it seem a LOT easier. Thanks from a new OLDER ham with a general ticket - W6COP\AG - San Diego County, CA. I'm guessing you are up in Canada. WE LOVE Quebec, Ontario, Vancouver, and Calgary (Lake Louise).
I have spent 12 weeks in the ham books and then bought this TH-D74A puppy. YOU made it easier for me.

      Good place.
Love Quebec and the history. The DNA maternal ancestors include John the Fearless Duke of Burgundy - and that 250 French Kings Valois dynasty.
My Knight family came from your area too in the early 1800s. My top DNA blood hit leads back to George Knight, Valley Field, Quebec - b. 1834.
I even Registered our Tri-Color Springer Spaniel - "Tiffany of the Valois" (say it tough and loud like the French do!)
I love the way you make things so easy to grasp - the entire radio is extremely drop down menu orientated.
You made the radio come alive for me. I am waiting for the programming software and the extra keep it separate laptop: Dell Windows Pro 7 for my 2 meter - DV Access Point Dongle from HRO. My club PARC has a large number of repeaters.
I have the micro usb cable and the quick charger and micro disk arrive tomorrow too.
      Keep in touch.

That was an interesting demo. I was on the fence about getting one. That's more ht than I need but a great replacement for my TH F6A. I always liked the idea of being able to listen to HF SSB/CW on a little hand held unit.

You Rock! Thanks for the walk thru. Just got D74 today. Love it so far. At home got it working on hotspot. Question: So when I leave home what is the fastest way to have it find DStar repeaters around me and set it on them. Could you make short video? I am new to DStar also so the from / to on repeaters has me stumped. Thank You. Steve

Somewhat clear, but I'm a newbie and am still quite lost. Is there anyone that can program my TH-D74 for everyday usage in grouping for my Hawaii Home and Orlando Area home Locations (and I do a lot of travel, as well).

Is Kenwood going to offer a replacement for the TH-D47? Sounds like everyone loves this radio, short of the price and battery capacity. I am a ham "newbie" tech and the radio is probably way too sophisticated for my current knowledge level, but you make it sound a lot easier than I imagined. I would rather spend a few extra bucks and have something that I can grow into rather than buy a succession of radios to keep up with my interests and learning curve while leaving a trail of deprecated equipment along the way. Terrific video - thanks!

This is al still in Chinese for me...Don't get me wrong, this is a good video for the radio amateur community, not for a novice, you are going wayyyy too fast without explaining what is what or the reason why for the setting. EVERYONE online explains and fly through the menus setting the radio but no information of what the settings does or why the reason of that setting, or where to start first...I have read the manuals and they are not much help either..it only tells you how to navigate and change functions on the radios but not the specifics to said functions, like, everyone expects that a novice grabs a radio and knows automatically what every single term means or what it is used for, it is frustrating as I am try to learn the differences between everything for this radio and an icom ID-51A; I just got this one because of the APRS feature which to my understanding is good to have to take the radio to remote places, in my case I like hiking in desert areas and it would be nice to have a means of communication in case of an emergency, not sure if this radio or any radio would work in a remote place but that is why I got the ID-51A and now this one; I got my license over 2 years ago but then after all this time and 2 radios including this one, I have not yet call out my call sign! I do not know the lingo, so when I am working in the radio I have no clue what I am doing or why! KI7CSI
