  • Kenwood D75 and D74 battery life is like holding water in your hand, it just drains away - quickly. What to do? Should you get a knock-off battery?
Pro-tip - I would initially charge the knock-off battery in the cradle detached from the radio in case you bought a true piece of crap. You don't want to melt a crap battery to your nice radio! Also, I would only charge with the cradle, not thru the radio. That may be just me being paranoid. Post any experiences with these batteries in the comments...
Ok, that might be a semi-pro tip

Fantastic report. Don't get too many reports of this caliber anymore. I have experienced the same. Much appreciated. Yessir, had bought a couple batteries from Amazon as well.. had to file down the two little plastic nipples within the clips that kept the batteries from seating. Now the batteries to go secure. I have to blame it on assembly line worker or Tofu-dreg project or gutter oil or plastic rice.

In all fairness yes your getting a less expensive battery, but the life expectancy is horrible with them. My experience after charging them a few times is that you get the red flash of death from the drop in charger and they do not keep a charge....

thanks for the comment Mike, I haven't had mine long enough for it to crap out yet. I gone through many charge cycles and so far so good! Doesn't mean it will last :(

By any chance have you heard anything about the knock off chargers?

Can't say that I have. In general, I'd only consider the knock-off if it was drastically cheaper than OEM or brand name, otherwise why bother if in doubt?
