  • In this rather poorly produced and edited video you can watch me cut a hole in the side of the 1st gen Tacoma and instal a snorkel air intake so you can finally get groceries in style without fear of drowning in the parking lot.

      I don't like WD-40 for that purpose because it can react with rubber same for anti-freeze. The safest thing I have found for that purpose is petroleum jelly aka vaseline.

    This is the best snorkel install I have seen on TH-cam for the 1st Gen Toyota Tacoma 4x4. It's on my to do list for my 2002 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 Double Cab. I will use Gorilla tape to secure it to the A pillar as I won't drill into my A pillar.

      @@JD_49 I sold my 2002 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 Double Cab two years ago and never had the chance to install the snorkel. I did buy a 2004 Tundra DC Limited 4x4 that the previous owner put over $11k in upgrades and I bought it for $14k in cash. It was a steal and thank God his wife was pestering him to sell their Tundra and 4Runner. They wanted to buy EV vehicles and get away from ICE vehicles.

    Also, if you use a universal joint with your impact driver, dont get any loose skin caught in it like I did a few months back... It can REALLY mess up your day, and your appendages.

  • @SCWW
    @SCWW 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @12:08 To prevent breaking a drill bit use Tap Magic (kerosene). In a pinch you can use pretty much any oil.

  • @SOLDADITO76
    @SOLDADITO76 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So those push through plastic retainers you cut to remove the inner fender are a pain to try and salvage. I would have bought new ones as well, seeing how the dealer would have done the same thing. But if prefer for easier and cost savings in the end get the inner fender retainers from an earlier pickup. They clip onto the fender and will allow you to reuse your fastening hardware.
    Looks good, but I prefer products closer to home, preferably the US and not Malaysia like the one you ordered. I’d even prefer products from Australia, them mates be building some good products.

    You should have put some silicone on the pipe joints and also the snorkel head you can not install it all the way down it needs to be a bit of a space where the line cuts are for water drainage

    I have a question about those fender flares that you took off that don't need the clips. I want to install those same standard fenders which I rhino lined onto my Tacoma but it is the same issue with no holes did not come with them. I was going to drill holes myself... Should I not even bother? Do they hold on well without needing the holes?

      don't drill! they hold on really well without any clips. If you need extra holding power, try double-sided automotive adhesive or mounting tape.
