Bills 1984 Maj Gen Aj Stewart was a pilot his last job due to cancer was at the Air Force Personnel Center Afpc. He wasn't being PC he was going into remission. But he was an awesome guy and the greatest commander! At AFPC our commanders come from all backgrounds not just personnel. Maj Gen Aj Stewart loss his battle with cancer early this year! I will truly miss him.

if you enlist and you are under 23 you can apply to the air force academy, you can also go through ROTC, or OTS (I recommend that if you are going to use the OTS route choose a major that is more difficult because the air force is looking for majors they cant train easily.) If you want to enlist before becoming an officer I would recommend the ANG or reserves since you can be a full time student while wearing the uniform. Hope this helps and best of luck

+Rasheed Whitaker...Well you really don't need to be the best and brightest. You just need to work a lot. Just work on your math, english and what not and you will be alright on your asvab. When I was at England AFB (now closed) out of all the Senior Airman in our bomb dump I scored the highest when I tested for Staff sergeant. I got a 285 out of 306. everyone else scored in the low to mid 270s. No. You don't need a degree to get in. Just to become an officer.

@flightestman: "if you don't go commissioned you never fly any plane"... Sure, unless you're a Flight Engineer, boomer, loadmaster, sensor operator, linguist (sometimes), intel (sometimes), radio operator, or any of the specialized positions on E-3s, E-8s, RC-135s, EC-130s, AC-130s, MC-130s, etc.
Now as for this video, how come the only rated officer comes at the end of the group and then he doesn't say "I'm a pilot," he says "I command AFPC." Lame. What kind of PC crap is that?

nope. basically what is being said is those with amazing grades are sought out by the Air Force.less than stellar grades may give you a shot. its just a slim shot.

So basically, you are trying to say without amazing grades in high school I am not eligible to become an officer in the air force?

Get a guaranteed job, stay away from flight line maintenance and you'll probably have a very easy and successful career.

Wow, you know I really wanted to become an airmen in the air force, but this video is really depressing. In my opinion the video is basically saying, you have to be the best and the brightest of your class. Even though you could score higher than the average person it gives you the slightest chance to become a United States airmen. Also yes I get it they're not just going to put some random dude off the block into a quarter billion dollar plane. I just want to know where you can find the support to at least to try and get to where these people have. Thanks again for the video!

Rasheed, while a lot is expected of both enlisted and commissioned Air Force Airmen it is not impossible to become one. There are opportunities for scholarships within ROTC programs and Air Force Academy students attend school tuition-free in exchange for their commitment to serve. Some students not selected to go directly to the Air Force Academy may be selected for a spot in their prep school. The prep school is designed to academically, physically and militarily prepare qualified young men and women to enter the Academy. There are also opportunities to commission once enlisted. Good luck! lies!!! thats not true you make no money and some people that in the air force are no good, but these are all officers i as enlisted it different for enlisted there stander is lower you all kinds and if you don't go commissioned you never fly any plane. the lowest officers is higher then the highest enlisted even if the enlisted has been 35 years and has his last Chief stripe. The 22 year old college 4 year graduate still out ranks him.
