I'm a professional keyboardist and grew up listening to the likes of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock just to name a few, but this LIVE keyboard solo by Cory Henry might just be the sinle greatest keyboard solo I have ever heard....
Good evening again Jim, New to me. I didn’t know yet that your channel existed four years ago. Great piece of music and excellent keyboard solo indeed.
summary : MASTERPIECE .... I'm gonna put it on my long list of records, that I still want to buy ... but what can be more fun, that listening to this ? Watch it ! So I'm gonna go for the DVD 🤘
Heard of them,Jim..but never heard anything yet. Thanks for this..mindblowing musicianship! I'm not much a jazzhead,as I knew these guys are,but damn--awesome! Maybe I need to investigate 'em and broaden the old horizons a bit. Mission accomplished, matey! Cheers, T PS: Pretty sure the drummer (Spud) is in Lukather's live Toto band these days..? Speaking of which...have you reacted to any Toto stuff yet? If so..perhaps I've missed it. Lots of joy in their catalog, bro. Don't sit on 'em.. ;-)
Cunning! Stunning! The video is a beast. Here's to trumpet-playing bands! Loved your commentary at the end. Weave a nice channel hear, as Sam Beckett might have said, were he to have been cool enough to stay alive long enough to be a member of your show. It's okay to member your show, just don't show your member!
The brass section needs more love. During the call and response section Corey Henry just has to keep himself togther, but the brass section has to keep all four of themselves together :)
The solo of Cory Henry is about the most analyzed keyboard solo in jazz history. I've seen Snarky 5 times, the best concert was in Hammersmith Apollo in 2015. Too bad that it seems like Cory has left the jazz circuits and moved on to soul with his own band.
I hear a 1970s cop show; I hear Chick Corea (sorta) ; I hear a bunch of virtuosos enjoying themselves and a bunch of jazz-heads applauding them for it. I still don't hear anything that really thrills me to my bones. Fine for those that like this sort of thing, no doubt whatsoever, but I'll pass. I do like fusion/jazz-rock (this isn't prog) but this particular brand isn't for me.
Great stuff! Enjoyed that!
Could you imagine being in that little live audience? What an experience.

Performance-wise....Is "We Like It Here" one of the greatest live albums of all time? Uh, yes...me thinks so.

Cool that I’ve seen them live. Lucky you!
Cory Henry made a great jazz-fusion solo album First Steps in 2014. Highly recommended.

Define prog.
@@ewenhouse Have you got a week? Basically, I know it when I hear it.
