    Hey guys, this will be the first time I (Morgan) have watched this. I won’t lie, I’m still very much processing everything and I know this will not be easy for me to watch. But my hopes in sharing this video is that this helps any momma out there feel less alone in the fact that their plans did not go the way they thought when it came to the birth of your child. And that what matters is that we made the brave choice to do whatever it was going to take to get our baby here safely. ❤

      I’m an RN who worked in L&D. The hard and fast rule is: If baby isn’t delivered 24 hours after the water breaks, you take the baby by whatever means necessary. I can’t imagine what that midwife was thinking, but it makes me furious that she allowed this to happen. It’s inexcusable.

    To all those new moms… castor oil is not recommended as it causes dehydration, and the pain you feel is most possibly diarrhea pain as it is a laxative… for my first pregnancy whilst waiting to go into active labour, the doctor warned do not take castor oil, also if your water breaks don’t wait that long , you’re losing amniotic fluid which protects the baby.. so the longer you wait and the more you lose and you’re just increasing risk… thank God for His mercy in ensuring that Luca was safe 🙏🏽

      How do you find birthing centers and are they staffed with medical professionals or only midwife’s?

    • @BhappyD
      @BhappyD ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@minimalassembly7893 Mist birthing centers are staffed by certified nurse midwifes, especially if they have a hospital affiliation. Certified Nurse Midwifes are the most educated type of midwife, and are the ONLY type midwifes that anyone should be employing to help deliver their baby, as they are the only type of midwife required to go through intensive formal education and medical training, with years of experience, and are the only midwifes capable and certified to administer necessary medications and interventions, such as IV fluids, antibiotics, pitocin, and even can administer certain types of pain medication, they know exactly what signs to look for in monitoring, and are essentially the second best thing to an actual obstetrician. For this reason, Certified Nurse Midwives are the ONLY type of midwife that a hospital will employ, as CNMs ARE medical professionals, unlike other midwives who are not and who do not go through the same level of training nor do they have the capabilities to provide medical interventions. CNMs typically only handle healthy mothers with healthy pregnancies who want to have natural births, whether that is in the hospital, in a birthing center, or at the parents home. They can handle minor to moderate complications during labor and delivery, but will hand the patient off to an obstetrician once the patient has a more serious complication or if the patient wants or needs more medical interventions (such as an epidural, needing a c-section, or needing more procedural delivery methods like forceps).
      CNMs can be found working in hospitals, birthing centers, as well as doing home births. What you have available to you is very much dependent on your location, as different states have different laws, hospitals may not always have them on staff (though it is becoming more common thankfully), and birth centers may not be readily available to everyone, especially in more rural areas away from big cities and big hospitals. You can try looking up on google if you have any birthing centers in your area, or you could also call your local hospitals or OB and see if they know of any birthing centers that they are familiar with that staff CNMs. You can also ask if they employ CNMs at their hospital that can manage your care and your birth inside of the hospital instead of an OB, so that you get the benefits of a midwife in a hospital setting. I would not recommend going to any birth centers that do not staff CNMs, and it’s also heavily preferable if they have close hospital affiliations so that it is easy to transfer you in the event that you need more medicalized care. Some hospitals are even starting to create their own birth centers staffed by their own CNMs, often connected to the hospital, inside the hospital, or located right next to the hospital. That is exactly what one of the hospitals near me did several years ago, and it is a fantastic option for mothers who still want a home birth feel to their birth, without the additional risk of being further away from a hospital in the event of complications.
      Hopefully that helps answer your question. The short of it is, Midwives CAN be medical professionals IF they are a CNM, but a midwife who is NOT a CNM is NOT a medical professional. CNMs are more comparable to a Nurse Practitioner, are professionally trained/educated, and have abilities all other midwives do not. Be careful to not be tricked by midwives who label themselves as “certified” and are not actually a Certified NURSE Midwife (CNM), because they are two VERY different things. Unfortunately, the US does not have adequate regulation when it comes to who can call themselves a midwife, as not all midwives are created equal. So if you choose the midwife route, regardless of the setting/place of birth, only stick to CNMs, as they are the only type of midwife fully capable of keeping you and your baby as safe and healthy as possible with all of the necessary training and ability to perform necessary, potentially life saving, interventions for you and your baby.

    I cried watching. This is so similar to my experience just two weeks before you. Though I was in the hospital the whole time, I went almost 48 hours after my water broke, got a horrible infection, baby girl got stuck at 10 cm and we ended up having to have a c section. We almost didn't make it. God kept you guys safe, just as he did me and my baby. I am so happy for you guys. Please give yourself time to heal, be okay to be on the couch with your sweet little man and just take him in. I really struggled with the healing process after surgery and not being able to do as much as I wanted but it's so important to heal and it does get easier. Paul, my husband also really struggled seeing me go through so much pain, give yourself time to mentally heal as well, nobody can prepare you for this experience and what comes after. You guys did great and the peace of the Lord and His presence was clear. I know you will mourn that the birth didn't go as you hoped but you did the right thing. We will continue to pray for you as you heal and enjoy the sweetest blessing. He is such a cutie! 💛💛

    Paul and Morgan, thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful, vulnerable, personal, and raw moment, with us. I cried tears of sadness and joy of course in the end. I’m not a mom, not even married. I was the product of a single parent. My mom went into labor and did so for 23 hours… alone. So watching Morgan go into labor, and experience it with a loving and supportive husband by her side, is a truly beautiful thing. What you’ve displayed is the true PARTNERSHIP of marriage designed by our good God! Paul, I admire your strength, your Love for Morgan, for your family. You’re going to be the BEST father! Morgan, I look at you like a little sister in Christ. I know you’re mourning the home birth you wanted so badly. But as Christians, you know how it is, when we surrender to the Lord, we even surrender moments like this. Watching this, I can see how God moved to protect you. He knew that you were in distress, and He wanted to be sure, you’d be alive and well to hold your precious boy in your arms. So things had to happen a little differently. It doesn’t make it any less wonderful. If anything, THIS is a true testimony of the beautiful unwavering faith you have in our Lord. Little Luca has quite the story already! I was messaging Paul all through the labor letting him know I was praying heavily for you, and I still am. I’ve always admired you guys, and now I admire you even more. I wish I could hug you all and tell you how incredible you are. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us. May God continue to protect and bless you always. Hugs and Love from NYC ❤

      You couldn’t have said this any more perfectly! God is a God full of grace, full of mercy, full of faithfulness. In John, Jesus responds to Simon Peter “You don’t realize what I am doing but later you will understand”. God is not lacking in his promises, and watching this video, I cried so much because I can see the goodness of God! Even in the midst of disappointment, distress and confusion, his spirit was still present with you! Where can we flee from his presence? He is and will always be with you, and ALL things work together for the good of those that love him and are called according to his purpose. Right now, I plead the blood of Jesus over baby Lucas, Paul and Morgan. I pray that you Jesus will send your ministering angels to protect them. I pray that Morgan will have a speedily recovery and that she will be a testament of your love and kindness. May you give them a spirit of joy and laughter and may peace be their portion. I pray for spiritual and physical rest, I pray for strength, I pray that you will surround them with love. I denounce every attack of the enemy, every wolf in sheep’s clothings, anything that is not like you.I come against it now in the name of Jesus! May you be forever glorified for you alone are God. You have no rival and you have no equal. For they are yours, and you are theirs. Let it be so, In Jesus name! LOVE YOU BOTH! Amen.

You understand that her and/or luca would have actually died without the hospital right? Things wouldn’t suddenly get better. One or both legitimately, 100%, would have died. It makes me really sad that you wouldn’t thank the doctors. God gave us the gift of modern medicine. Use it.

    I had four deliveries at hospitals and all of them went well with knowledgeable doctors and sweet nurses. My babies were all big and I could easily have needed an emergency C section. I didn't need one but I was less stressed knowing that in minutes I could be in an operating room. Many things can happen suddenly in birth. It seems that some people view a hospital birth when a home birth was planned as some kind of failure. All that matters is healthy mom
    and baby. In regards to prayer - prayer isn't about us praying for the perfect life WE want, it's about getting in line with God and living the life that He wants for us. Sometimes along the way, there is sadness and difficulty but God is always doing what is BEST for his people.

    I just first want to say how excited I am for you guys! You have a precious baby boy; thank God he gave you the right people to make sure he arrived safely and Morgan was tended to in the safest way. You both did so well throughout the process of encouraging each other and giving glory to God.
    Second, I’m sorry it didn’t go as you had hoped it would; any feelings of sadness about unexpected changes to your birth plan are valid and I hope you don’t feel any guilt in it. Your body tried to protect Luca by digressing and you were in a facility equipped to handle the changes. I’m praying you’re able to process the birth trauma and fear you likely had; it’s more common than people make it out to be. You’re not alone and so many people are rooting for and praying for your precious family.

    Don’t you need intervention (like pitocin) after 24 hours after the water breaks, due to increase stress on baby and increased risk of infection?

    • @brooketeague4985

      There is really no increase risk of infection as long as nothing penetrates the woman. I.e. no need to check her cervix or put anything inside of her vagina.

Morgan, I felt so bad when you were laying there getting a c section, as I know that was far from what you wanted, but you know what, for whatever reason, this was the way it happened and your labor and delivery is still so special. Nobody’s is exactly the same and this was your story. I’m happy for you guys, now enjoy your little family. ❤

That midwife did you wrong by not getting you help sooner. So sad for that. I just delivered by midwife 7 weeks ago and it was such a good experience. Yours should have been. But God can redeem anything. Enjoy your sweet new little one. Praying for you, Morgan, as you recover. What we women go through giving birth is a miracle. Thankful that God brought you through

    Wow watching your video moved me to tears. I was praying for you in the middle of the night during those long times of labor, because I was following your Instagram constantly. I am amazed at how long you hung in there before you had to face the dreaded C-section. Praise God for safe C-sections when things don’t work normally. I had a surprised C-section after my 7 th baby’s cord prolapsed. It’s ok that Luca had to come out that way. What matters is that Luca arrived safe and sound. God was there protecting you both. When Paul held Luca for the first time and he cried I cried with him! Sooo happy for you both CONGRATULATIONS!!!🙏🏻💙🎉

    With my second, I promised myself it would be different and I would be more prepared. I was told at 35 weeks that I had gestational diabetes and that the baby was HUGE. My doctor asked me to schedule a c section and I was devastated and so scared. After praying a lot, I scheduled one. He ended up weighing 10 lbs 5 oz and my doctor said there was no way at all he would have fit through my pelvis. It was in that moment again that despite my pain and fear, I saw God's hand keeping me safe once again. I look now at my two healthy babies and my health with no long term issues and I praise God for his prompting and his love of ALL of us.

I always thought it was setting some people up for disappointment to call it a “birth plan.” Births usually don’t go as planned, things can change moment to moment & you never know when a medical emergency will arise. Even a mother with no risk factors can end up needing emergency medically intervention in a home birth, or even hospital. Again, I’m glad/relieved you’re all ok!

    Hey Morgan, absolutely take the time to mourn the birth experience that you didn't get to have! I also planned for a home birth but my water broke at 36 weeks and I had to be induced and delivered my baby prematurely. I know most people just tell you "well good thing you and baby are alive", but when you had those expectations set up for yourself, it's difficult to let go. You are not alone in this, and many women can totally relate to the trauma caused by unplanned events at birth. Sending hugs, take care of yourself!

      @YFL.111 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happens when your water breaks before time? You cannot then have the baby naturally at home too?
      I just wanna have more knowledge about those things.

    • @miszk5690
      @miszk5690 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@YFL.111 If it breaks before completed 37 weeks, you go to the hospital. This is a situation that is not physiology, so needs monitoring in a hospital (depending on when in pregnancy this happens there are different solutions). Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) is what it's called, and please please don't diy it and decide for contractions to come while you're at home and don't you dare drink castor oil! Premature babies don't react to things quite like their mature buddies, so you don't know how the baby reacts to you causing an artifficial diarrhea. Any situation that can result in a premature delivery needs you to be at the hospital. But also, don't be afraid of hospitals if this happens! Use your communication skills with the hospital staff! Treat them as your friends, or partners at least, not as your enemies who don't want you to have a good birth. As you can see in Morgan's video, birth is a dynamic situation, and midwifes and OBGYNs are skilled to spot when things can go south. And they're there to make sure whatever odd situation you're in in your pregnancy or birth, you are taken care of. P.S.

    Oh, I am so heartbroken that this was your experience and I just hope you allow yourselves to process and grieve the loss of the birth you desired and prayed so hard for. Of course, there is joy with little Luca’s presence and Morgan being healthy, and that should also be fully celebrated and felt ❤️ there is a time for all things… to heal, to mourn, and to laugh. I’m glad you’re surrounded by a beautiful support system with lots of helping hands. It’s been beautiful watching this journey and just know you have people out here thinking and praying for you both during this miraculous yet confusing time. ❤

    My heart aches watching what y’all had to endure. “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”Yet, God proved Himself faithful once again! Y’all are in my continued prayers and we praise the Lord with you for your new little boy!💙💙 So happy for you two. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey.

    I had a similar experience with starting at home and needing to be transferred to the hospital. My heart goes out to you but how beautiful is your baby! I’m so happy for you guys. You’ll be wonderful parents and your healing Morgan will be my prayer. C-sections are no joke! Now the adventure of parenting awaits. And so so SO much joy.

    I sobbed through this whole thing. My heart hurts for how things went and I am also SO THANKFUL for doctors and hospitals for times like this. But so hurting for you guys and all the trauma poor Morgan had to endure. This was very intense to watch. Little Luca is so sweet and I am so so thankful he and Morgan are safe and healthy ❤️

    My daughter was born on the very same day, it also didn’t go as planned and ended in a frankly somewhat traumatic c-section. A week and a half later I’m still processing things but most importantly acknowledging that it can be the best day of your life but still be an experience that you need to process and that’s OK!

    I just want to give a shout out to those who were called to the profession of being OB Doctors and Labor/Delivery nurses. A healthy outcome sometimes takes a village, once you went into overtime, your midwife knew where your best outcome would be at a hospital. Hooray for the professional staff who took over and handled the eventual surgery.!

    Oh my gosh I was not expecting to cry. I don’t even know you guys but I feel you so much. The natural yet traumatic birthing experience is like no other. I’ve been thru it three times and know first hand how sad it is when your birth plan doesn’t go the way you desired and also how frightening it can become when something seems to go wrong. Bless your midwife for knowing when it was time to go to the hospital. Bless the doctors and nurses that helped you. And above all thank God for a beautiful healthy baby and mommy. Congratulations!

    I never cried watching a birth video before, but when the screen cut to black and said Morgan hemorrhaged I cried. I didn’t hemorrhage, but my daughter had fluid in her lungs and needed to be resuscitated. It wasn’t my life in danger but my daughter’s. I remember us all praying and asking God to make her finally breathe. It was a bit traumatic and so unexpected and emotional. My heart goes out to Morgan with her birth story and how trying birth can be. I’m grateful to have witnessed this video of Morgan and see her true raw strength and God given power. I was nervous for my second birth coming up soon but seeing Morgan’s strength in such a trying situation gives me hope I can be just as strong this time around.
