Such a hauntingly beautiful piece of music. For all those who have lost a loved one during this horrific pandemic I hope this music brings some peace and comfort.
Thank you John for your message of hope. Sadly my father has just passed on. I performed this piece about 23 years ago and can still remember the bass line. It does bring me peace and comfort. Even though he was not a fan of the organ or loud sopranos I know now Dad is with the Saints in heaven.
@@loveispatient0808 I am so sorry for your loss. I know all too well the pain of losing a loved one. As someone once told me, you never get over it, but you do get through it. I hope this music helps you as it has helped me.
Thank you so much, Durufle Requiem is such a beautiful piece, it moves me to tears everytime I hear that piece of music. It is peace for human mankind peace for the world and comfort those who have lost someone. Amen, greetings from the Netherlands
Agreed. The full orchestra version often drowns out the beauty of the vocals. I would love to find a version with just singers and a string quartet doing a pared down arrangement.
Thank you for a very wonderful performance. In Durufle, the organ has a very critical role, imparting a dynamic kaleidoscopic array of colors and enabling the vocal ensemble to voice varied and distinct soundscapes. Filsell's playing was magnificent and distinct. The 13 were excellent and conventionally very pleasing.
This is truly a fantastic rendering of the Durufle Requiem. How thirteen voices produce such powerful sounds is amazing. The organist is an exceptional artist. Mr. Chu in the Libera me was fantastic. However, the other two soloist I found disappointing. Overall, I doubt there is another performance that can top this one.
As to the comment of "jaw-jacking," that is the most excellent way of creating the great voal that you've heard. Think of joining a choral ensembe, where you could have a fun and educational time.
Beautifully sung. I thought the organ was a little heavy for the number of singers, but the Durufle went very well otherwise. I was especially impressed by the choir's mastery of that terrifically difficult cantata by Poulenc. I know from personal experience how hard it is to get all 12 parts (one voice per part!) to work together. This was thrilling. If I had any suggestion, I would have liked more rhythmic intensity and flexibility. There was a sameness in the performance of both works that caused my attention to flag at times. Nonetheless, thank you so much for such music-making!
I was looking for non-symphonic performance and I'm amazed I found you Thirteen. I love it, I cry, my ears burst with delight.
Such beautiful singing makes listening to this a lasting memory.
Sense of balance is outstanding. Tender. Passionate. Wonderful.
Absolutely beautiful can hear every part..currently singing this and we are only having an organ as well
Magnificent. Demonstrates the purity and clarity of sound that can be achieved with a smaller number of top-notch singers.

@@colmsomers9063 I'm sure he is. I'm sure he was very proud of you.
My beloved eldest brother Philip passed away with covid on 23 September 2021. He’s now at peace with his Lord Jesus!🙏✝️

Cette musique sublime est un radeau dans un océan sombre de solitude de mon premier chagrin d'amour 😮💨
Bravissimi!! Tommaso
Outstanding performance! Sounds like a complete Choir! Glorious Requiem!
Definitely my favourite interpretation of Duruflé's Requiem.
I’ve always maintained that this needs no other instrument than a good pipe organ and this definitely furthers that belief.

Thank you very much for sharing this video. The musical highlight of this week for me. 🌹
Fantastic to hear this sublime ovpp performance - bravo.

Well done Matthew and thank you for recording this performance. Sadly, my father has just died. I listened to this music and cried. 🙏
Such a large sound for only thirteen people. Very nice.
Exquisitely sublime--thank you!
I never noticed the maze at the Church of the Epiphany.
Alto in Pie Jesus is marvelous, she takes it very lightly but is absolutely convincing

What church is it?

Beautiful. Can you give us more info about the venue and the organ specs? Thanks so much.
They are certainly downplaying the famous final chord. I think the strangeness should be clearly heard. Man’s inability to comprehend the eternal.
