Well done, as always. You got nitpicked about a few things, so here's mine: Valeris is probably in a brig somewhere, not on the bridge of the Enterprise as it returns home. 🙂
Wonderful ending to a great "what-if" series. Only thing I noticed was you missed adding the damage from Chang's torpedo strikes to the Enterprise hull as she was docking in the last couple segments (as she was passing the bay windows, she was missing the damage done to her saucer section and nacelle pylons). Other than that, it was very well done.
Still loving the Hikeverse! Like at 1:18, Spock follows Kirk off the port turbolift. Seconds later at 1:21, Spock's twin follows Valeris off the starboard lift. In the Hikeverse, of course, all of Spock's friends know Sarek's three children: Spock, Spock's twin, and Spock's half brother. That's it. (No secret adopted human sister shoehorned into a half-century of canon and conveniently classified as "top secret" not by Starfleet Command, but instead by lazy creators who wrote themselves into the universe's most obvious and avoidable corner.)
I always thought it odd that the new-ish 1701-A, presumably an old design but not as old or damaged as 1701, perhaps much less so, would be retired. Starfleet seemed to keep working ships in service for long periods. Similarly, that its decommissioning, if it happened, would automatically mean Kirk's retirement [though this suits his temperament], or Scott's [ditto]. McCoy, maybe, he was the oldest. Chekov I'd expect to stay in- he was the youngest. Maybe he decided he wasn't going to get promoted to Captain and the cool assignments weren't coming his way anymore. Or maybe he opened a bar on the newly discovered Risa. I like to think so. Beyond all that, this was beautifully imagined and edited!
When it was rechristened Enterprise from its original name, it was an original style Connie (NOT an original, but one built later) that had been freshly refit to MK II spec. I think the class being decommissioned was a nod to the fact we don't see any in TNG. (Big mistake if Mirandas are there and they are older than refit Connie style, but that was RODDENBERRY's decision, for some reason he didn't want them seen.) Chekov doesn't retire, he accepts the exec position on Excelsior under Sulu.
Nice little alternate universe happenings going on here. Good use of the existing footage with the new shots. Hoping Kirk enjoys retirement and eating Ktarian eggs.

In this sweet sentimental send off reality, HIKE was able to bypass some of the Harve Bennett Anomaly (his distaste for the refit design because of difficulty for shooting it on film led to pushing the issue of its self destruction as a "plot device" for ST: III). This was a delight to the senses and a nice tug to ol' heart strings of amazement that we're still trekkin' after all these years.
Not to nitpick a detail, although wasn't the Excelsior-class USS Enterprise assigned NCC-1701-B. At the 3:45 time of the video, it's stated that that ship was given -A; which letter was retired with that ship. Just throwing out some story lore. Other than that, great video! This is better than the stiff posing "Hollywood" ending it was given in the theatrical version.
I've said before that I love that in this "What if" Universe Original Enterprise managed to survive to the end of the TOS era TMP films. We all know Spock, Scotty, and McCoy's fates that they are in the TNG era at various points. I see Uhura possibly going back to being an academy instructor. I can't see Chekov retiring as he has shown to still have command aspiration, however, I don't see him commanding Enterprise-A, more likely an Excelsior Class like Sulu. IMO, I don't see Sulu going "Home" again to the Enterprise as It's not his home anymore in more ways than one. Plus from a lore standpoint, the Excelsior is his ship about as much as the original/refit 1701 is Jim Kirk's. Speaking of Captain Kirk, I greatly dislike the way he was treated in Generations. His first "Death" was handled fine and his time in the Nexus is believable even to the point when he realizes the fakeness of it all. How his actual death is handled is where it loses me. Kirk is one of those heroes that have become so mythical in both the in-universe lore and in the fandom that you should never know what his final fate is. He's a legend. No writer, especially the TNG writers could ever do it justice. Going off to that "second star to the right" is the perfect ending for him. Okay, rant over LOL. Awesome job on this!!
The production team of Star Trek: Picard has established that Uhura did become a captain. Turns out, among the various starship plaques glimpsed in the Star Trek: Picard season 2 premiere - “The Star Gazer” - one starship in Jean-Luc’s past was apparently captained by none other than “Captain Nyota Uhura.” Picard production designer Dave Blass tweeted the plaque image of the USS Leondegrance, a starship commissioned in 2288, but captained by Uhura from 2301 to 2305 - basically a decade after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - on a five-year mission of exploration in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud. The details from the plaque also reveal that: the Leondegrance became an Academy training ship in 2317- much like the Enterprise did in The Wrath of Khan - and Uhura remained captain until 2333.
I never ever comment on TH-cam videos. Just watch and scroll to the next. This brought a sense of genuineness that is greatly appreciated, and maybe a tear or two. Well done everyone involved! Please don’t stop!!
My only nitpick is that the Enterprise - A here is a standard Excelsior class and not the Enterprise Refit. I guess that makes sense in the what-if timeline, but I liked the Excelsior refit much more.
This makes me wonder what the fates of the A-C would be in this timeline. Furthermore I am also wondering if in this timeline, there would be a Sovereign class Enterprise like the Enterprise-E was in the real timeline or if events played out differently since the decommissioning of the NCC-1701 in this one. By the way, I think this creator did a good what if series.
@@dustinkosman6615 Since in this timeline the "A" is a regular excelsior and not the upgraded one, it doesn't have the bits that stick out of its hull. Lets say that, because the time table is about the same, Kirk is still a guest on its first flight, and they still come across the nexus. In Generations, the room that gets destroyed by the energy beam with Kirk inside was in one of those hull protrusions. So that doesn't happen here, the beam instead misses by a little bit. That means that Kirk survives in the 23rd century, doesn't enter the nexus, and doesn't get teleported to the TNG era - and then everything's different.
Kirk never enters the Nexus. Picard then has to choose someone else, or exit the Nexus by himself. If Picard then dies during the Soran fight, Soran fires his star destroyer missile and (again) everyone on the Enterprise D saucer dies. The Borg then assimilate Earth in FC. The Federation falls and the borg take over the universe. The end. If Picard survives the Soran fight, then things go about the same as normal up until Section 31 tries to retrieve Kirk's body. Which doesn't happen here. If that ever happens to be important, than yeah that'll also change things.
I wish we could have had this. Never did I understand why the writers decided to destroy the Enterprise (or kill Kirk off for that matter). Heroes (both ship and the Captain) don't have to come to an end. Bravo!
I think they did have to kill Kirk off. Generations was intended as a "handover" movie and needed to draw a line under the original crew. Had Kirk survived, then with Bones, Spock, and Scotty all known to be alive in the TNG era, the original crew would have overshadowed the TNG crew, with there always being the temptation to being them back again (not withstanding that both De and Leonard had announced their retirements from their respective roles).
Great Job! But there ist a little mistake in the Credits Guys 😎 the NCC 1701-A was the second refit based on the original constitution class. The new Enterprise under the command of Capt. John Harrymann was an excelsior class starship wearing registry NCC 1701 -B. First appereance in Star Trek Generations 😊
As far as I understood cannon; the A was actually a different starship (who was renamed for her captain) closely related to the uprated constitution class, but built up all new. She wasn't a refit at all. The B was as shown an upgraded Excelsior class Battle-cruiser .
A nice and great work guys. But this video make me feel sad and old really. I remember when see in my child day's the complete series in a b/w tv. Yes i know they are only sci Fi character's of the imagination but in the real life many of them pass away and start the voyager to nowhere on the deep of the space.
the issue is they would not have the replacement already ready to go. right now since the CVn65 Enterprise is decommed and beign scrapped her replacement is just now being built. won't be ready for about 5 years
I just want to correct you here. The USS Enterprise NCC 1701 A was decommissioned in early 2294. The new exelsior class enterprise ncc 1701 B had its first flight in 2294.
You actually didn't need to disregard Prime canon. 1701 could have been recovered during the time of ST4 with a secret recovery that is completed by the end of ST6, hence the order to return to Earth could have been a ruse to get them back for the re-launch of 1701. That would leave room for 1701 to become a museum alongside 1701-A or even introduce a series of adventures for either or both ships prior to the launch of 1701-B.
very creative edit/creation, it could possibly change the entire progression of ships named enterprise in the trek universe possibly for the better, lots of unknowns to be explored!
great animation. one nitpick, the space station door is too small. i realize you’re trying to match the movies, but an Excelsior class ship couldn’t even fit through that door, much less a Galaxy class. shrinking the Enterprise relative to the doors would make it more realistic. and remember that the same space station is used in “the next generation” where a Galaxy class also goes through that same door.
Love your talent, if I had just an inkling of it, I'd be making this type of content instead of just commenting. Now, half jokingly I reject your premise for this fanimation ( Fan Animation ). Usefullness and Great designs are tantamount for longevity. For this I postulate the following . . . If Connies were like B-52, then we'd see Constitutions ( before and after refit ) well during and after Voyager timelines. Might be well into STP time. That I'd love to see. Get on that CBS/Paramount !
Very well done. Few things though. First, Valeris would have been in the brig if she was even brought back to Enterprise after the events at Khitomer. Doubt he would call the Enterprise-B an experiment. He would have said it was the future.
could someone do the this video again but in the prime timeline when The Enterprise A Dock at the starbase and we get to see two Enterprises, The Enterprises A and B. its a shame we don't get see the Enterprise A in flight for the last, I only hoped that the produces could have made a last secne where we see the enterprise A dock at the starbase and maybe even got to see the Enterprise B as well before we see her in the next film generations. well that last scene would be a great fiting send off for the Enterprise A. well we get to see the Enterprise A again but dock at the Starfleet museum retired.
Ok ok, you meant it to be the original enterprise based on a prior vid. But how the heck does a burning ball of flame descending into Genesis and crash landing emerge with the nacelles attached and only minor damage that can be repaired when the enterprise was already decades old? The whole premise is absurd. No sane construction crew would try to assemble scraps of debris and make it into a new ship. So much would have to be replaced that it would in effect be an entirely new ship (the Enterprise A)
Pretty much what happens if Khan died in the Ceti Alpha system and never encountered Kirk again. I just wonder what the B will be now that the A is an Excelsior...
After just watching the Khitomer Battle, I like to think of this as the true ending of the original Enterprise and the stepping down of her command crew.

Very nice tribute here from a fellow Trekkie (none of that trekker stuff for me). Please keep the Trek vids coming.
At least this old Enterprise wasn't shot up as much as it was in the movie in "The search for Spock" from "The wrath of Kahn"
Beautiful, just beautiful!
Thank you ..This video explains my timeline why the ships have other registry th-cam.com/video/T9Q1ujLWva8/w-d-xo.html
@@HIKEANIMATION anyway... This footage is f**** awesome man. How long took it to create the models, the materials and lighting?
As far as I understood cannon; the A was actually a different starship (who was renamed for her captain) closely related to the uprated constitution class, but built up all new. She wasn't a refit at all.
The B was as shown an upgraded Excelsior class Battle-cruiser .
A Video about the Fleet Museum would be great. Picard mentioned that a Constitution Class Ship is in this Musuem, when he talked to Scotty...
hehe Thats exactly what the Fleet museum was created for if we all remember that?
A nice and great work guys. But this video make me feel sad and old really. I remember when see in my child day's the complete series in a b/w tv. Yes i know they are only sci Fi character's of the imagination but in the real life many of them pass away and start the voyager to nowhere on the deep of the space.
Great video, Just a little of nitpicking on my part. The NCC-1701-A is the one retiring and the NCC-1701-B is the one ready for trial runs
The whole premise of these series of videos is that the 1701 wasn't destroyed...hence What If.
Nice alternative story!
Finally, the Excelsior-class Enterprise looks correct for a change (ignoring the letter suffix on the registry)
the issue is they would not have the replacement already ready to go. right now since the CVn65 Enterprise is decommed and beign scrapped her replacement is just now being built. won't be ready for about 5 years
Excellent, and inspiring!!
you got your letters mixed up a was kirks ship b was the excelsior class
alternate time
superb work!
Even added the hissing noise upon the Enterprise's entry into Spacedock.
Nicely done
Approach Control this is Enterprise A ready for docking maneuvers.
Pretty good work. Impressive really.
I just want to correct you here. The USS Enterprise NCC 1701 A was decommissioned in early 2294. The new exelsior class enterprise ncc 1701 B had its first flight in 2294.
This is an alternate universe that the Enterprise was not destroyed
Excellent job!!!
Superrbe talent ! Je suis envieux !
All I can say is: logical. Completely logical.
Always good to be Home, Harbormaster. Just wish I didn’t have to stay....
"Fate protects fools, children and ships named Enterprise."
I really love your work. Please keep it up.
a feel good timeline into the Golden Age
Thank you.
It's a really nice thought. 👍
a alternate timeline where the enteprise was not lost over genesis. nice.
I'll stick with the Constitution class. Back in the late '60s, i had the model of it, and the klingon Battle cruiser.
great animation.
one nitpick, the space station door is too small. i realize you’re trying to match the movies, but an Excelsior class ship couldn’t even fit through that door, much less a Galaxy class. shrinking the Enterprise relative to the doors would make it more realistic.
and remember that the same space station is used in “the next generation” where a Galaxy class also goes through that same door.
Oh! It's a what-if! Well done!
An interesting "what if"...
Very well done. Few things though. First, Valeris would have been in the brig if she was even brought back to Enterprise after the events at Khitomer. Doubt he would call the Enterprise-B an experiment. He would have said it was the future.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
OK, why on this dear earth would you get rid of the original shots? They were perfection itself.
Beautiful 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
By 2299 Chekov would probably have a captain's rank and should have commanded E-A.
I always felt that the USS Excelsior should of been the NCC-1701 A
Excelsior class Enterprise, shouldn't designation be 1701-B? Just curious
In an alternate reality...
Very clever ' Great work
That was a thing of beauty... Well done... very well done.
Very cool!
Yes, I like this better than how they did it.
Love it
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and executed in every way and detail provided indeed guys👌.
Well done. 👍
The original still rings true. But this is nice
could someone do the this video again but in the prime timeline when The Enterprise A Dock at the starbase and we get to see two Enterprises, The Enterprises A and B. its a shame we don't get see the Enterprise A in flight for the last, I only hoped that the produces could have made a last secne where we see the enterprise A dock at the starbase and maybe even got to see the Enterprise B as well before we see her in the next film generations. well that last scene would be a great fiting send off for the Enterprise A. well we get to see the Enterprise A again but dock at the Starfleet museum retired.
The excelsior class Enterprise was the Enterprise B. Kirk retired the Enterprise A. For all the work put into this, that’s a pretty glaring mistake.
So much would have to be replaced that it would in effect be an entirely new ship (the Enterprise A)
It's like restoring an old car. Even if almost everything has been renewed. Based on the VIN it remains the same car.
Pretty much what happens if Khan died in the Ceti Alpha system and never encountered Kirk again.
I just wonder what the B will be now that the A is an Excelsior...
The B would be the one that appeared in the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise"
Wow. Beautifully done! Very impressive!
After just watching the Khitomer Battle, I like to think of this as the true ending of the original Enterprise and the stepping down of her command crew.
This was...beautiful. Truly amazing, thank you for this.
Why do you see other registration numbers in this video? This video explains my alternate timeline th-cam.com/video/WtDheTqmKx0/w-d-xo.html
