thaaaaank u for posting this, god i miss home i used to live in jewel lake, i grew up there and i miss driving around at night in the snow sooooo peaceful, thank u again
Will Crombie I live near Atlanta and when I was 16 with two months driving experience we got released out of school early because of snow and I drove a RWD Infiniti.... most chaotic driving experience ever... 10 minute drive was 30+. Ended up leaving my car at a gas station and thank god for my buddies jeep for getting me home
Lol The UK doesn't need to get that much before everything shuts down, it's pretty ridiculous! Though, saying that, we hardly ever get much snow, certainly not down south where I live. Probably why we often get caught off-guard by it. Most of any accumulation we might get, tends to be more up north where it's more mountainous.
Its nice to see some good driving and people going about their lives like nothing is wrong in all that snow. if you get a few inches of snow here in the UK the country almost stops. :)
recognized my employer Providence hospital right away. Just a few weeks or less from "enjoying" yet another snow filled driving experience. I hope it's a mild winter.
May Devone, Cost of living, especially in and around Anchorage, is really not far from living in a large city. No sales tax in the city limit also means many will make purchases in the city and have their items shipped. My one room mate was a K-12 teacher in the bush villages, they would have one teacher go to Anchorage about once a month with a shopping list and ship a majority of their goods back to the village. There's ways to manage, never make money an object.
I grew up in Alaska in the 60's and 70's and boy was there a ton of snow!! We went skiing at Artic snow lodge every weekend or Hillberg at Elmendorf Air Base. Since I was not driving for most of those years we took a bus and rented our skiis once we got there. You can not even believe how cheap it was in the 60's to ski. Our ski rental was .50 cents and so was the lift ticket. Sometimes with the chill factor it was so cold (-40) that we could only stay out for 15 minutes on the slope. Crazy and fun times. You could be poor and still have fun in those days.
hebneh, it comes down to follow following the track of the vehicle who drove before you and using your imagination to remember where curbs and medians are. Even plowed, you'll find yourself driving on 2-3" of packed snow a majority of the winter. Its nothing like the East Coast where I grew up understanding that a plowed road was to the pavement.
I hate that people think this is a daily life in Alaska. Alaska is, helping one another, playing outside, playing on devices, going to school, and MUCH more. Anchorage is a city. Not a place what has wooden cabins for houses. My house is like anyones in Florida or Mississippi or any place in the lower 48
I miss the snow so much. Would drive through it all the time in Idaho. Miss the blizzard running over the windshield and light packing sound when you drive through the packed down snow. Miss it all so much. In a good 4matic or smart AWD vehicle, you can drive around all night long in this stuff on the main roads and never get stuck. Just enjoy the peace and quiet. No ice, just freshly packed snow.
I grew up in Va and remembered some snowstorm we had, of course we got shut down. Until I was 15 and a superintendent from Alaska decided that he knew what he was doing and had our schools opened with 6 plus inches of snow on the ground and more storms coming. Bad idea because of our roads and all. the school bus I was on went into a skid hit a tree and went on it side, injuring all of us even before we got to school. three other buses where in crashes as well. That moron got some serious shit from, the county and state officials plus our parents and still tried to open schools the next day. All bus drivers went on strike. My parents along with others sued but didn't go to court insurance settled with us all. Mr Alaska got fired.
Oh man...thats beautiful!! My husband and I will be moving out to Anchorage in August...I'm a bit nervous considering I've never driven in the snow (lived in cali for 22yrs and florida for 2), but nonetheless excited!!
I grew up in Pennsylvania, I had some experience with cold and snow. Take your time, keep your distance, especially at stop lights, keep a car length between you and the stopped car in front of you. Memorize the roads, so when they are nothing but white, you can use your imagination, "there's a median there, I should keep a little to right." You'll be surprised how fast you adapt, its not bad.
Just like Wisconsin storms. Our traffic lights really get rocking from the wind at times. Also we have people who stop at green lights, bicyclists in snow storms, jay walkers standing in the middle of the street, and that last one...lol.
At the start you were pretty close to my neighborhood. We'd like to have that six inches now to cover up the dirty and icy remains of the only snow so far this winter (11/3/16). I still have green grass showing in my back yard. Been that way the last couple years... kids have a hard time finding a decent sledding hill.
Could you make another video like this if it snows like this again with the winter coming up, pretty please? And the longer the better, or a lot of shorties. Thank you so much and I hope you get this!
Wow! So, I know Alaskans may laugh at this, but I live in Albuquerque. If it snows an inch here, everything closes - even if it's all melted by noon ...
I'm from Los Angeles where our winters are usually in the 60s for the highs. I'm planning on visiting Anchorage at the end of February this year and I'm wondering how cold will it be and does has I been snowing a lot like this in recent years around that time I plan to go? Any advice on what to pack would be greatly appreciated! And perhaps any other info or tips for when I visit would also be awesome. Thanks!
Varies where you live. Last two years the winters have been around the 30's. Move further inland, the temps drop to those 10, 5, negatives. But there's a flip side, interior can get into the 80-90. Word of advice, if you have a strong career or job skill, it makes it easier to find a job and establish yourself.
thaaaaank u for posting this, god i miss home i used to live in jewel lake, i grew up there and i miss driving around at night in the snow sooooo peaceful, thank u again
Ugh me too. I grew up in Eagle River... the nostalgia has been hitting so hard lately. I miss it so much😪
@@boxedlunch5682 awwww man eagle river wow , I had some friends who lived in peters creek , great times n memories
You wimps. 2:40 Now that guy on a bicycle is the real adventurer.
On a serious note, it's a beautiful drive. Thanks for posting.
haha 2:45 guy on his bicycle, only in Alaska :D
stblclar o
No, WV..lol.
Yeah we have tuff bikers up here
Have to get around somehow!! 😂
Snow storms are just so relaxing to drive in or just look at aha
As long as the road is relatively abandoned. It's terrifying being around a ton of people who have no idea what they're doing.
Bullsnation agree

Agreed. It’s so peaceful driving in the snow. I usually do it at dawn when the roads are empty. It’s so peaceful!
This is proof that Winter is the best season of them all
Love the fact that everything just carries on. Even your buses were still running. Nice video.
The buses are running. NYC gets 2 inches of snow and everything shuts down. They even put a curfew in effect for 2 inches of snow.

I will visit alaska sometime in the future.

Me too ! Not in storms though ! 😱😁

Hard to think that this was one year ago.... Anchorage weather,,, Got to love it.... OR LEAVE.... :)
Like the music.... Nice.
I Love Alaska!!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing ! These videos are never boring to me :)
He visto este vídeo 100 veces y me encanta, cada poco tiempo lo veo. Beautiful.
You drove right around the area I lived in, off of piper st. I knew exactly where you were when it started
I can't wait till winter comes.
3 years later....
Did it come???
I always say this... until it comes.
This video makes me homesick for Anchorage. Great background music at the start, by the way. Snow Patrol seems kind of appropriate.
there's nothing like driving in this stuff. it's magical. I bet it wasn't even that cold.
BEAUTIFUL SNOW AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC! :-) I LOVE ALASKA, cannot afford to live there!

I work in East Coast as a S E Parapro. It is a hard job, but I love the kids. The cost of living is expensive!
I enjoyed the ride in with you this morning thanks a lot keep dry

loved that storm, I was out plowing until 3am and back out at 9 the next day.
I miss the winters up north. There is something about a snowy night that tugs at the soul.
This is how I have always wanted to live.
Love the wetter snow with late season storms. I truly enjoyed seeing the bicyclist.

I have a log cabin upper hillside in Anchorage. It happens.

I can understand that, certain places are a lot different than others
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ,, LOVE FROM SWEDEN ❤❤❤
One day I would like to go to Alaska :)
Go for it, life is short and the experience will follow you for a life time.
Im sour on Alaska, but dont have the dough to leave...so makes me a sourdough lol :D
I'm buying property in Fairbanks and Sitka Alaska. I love the snow, hate the digging and clean up!
Very short summer long days of darkness yeah......no. Snowmobiling would be fun though.
Totally off topic, but "Run" by Snow Patrol is probably one of the best songs ever! Haha anyway sweet video!
Fun stuff. I miss living up there... I love driving on snow..
It's all fun and games until someone loses a headlight...
Why’d you move if you don’t mind me asking
Love that you're listening to Snow Patrol in the opening! Ironic.
Snow Patrol. I see what you did there.
+romaczech75 I saw that too! Good catch.

Wow! That's what I would call a snow storm! Thanks for uploading :)
I love snow and travel just to see it but it’s so scary to drive in ... This video is beautiful and relaxing though 😊
Lovely video,at the end of the video it looks like the two cars making the turn on the left had a accident
Beautiful!!!
Wow, too much snow for me. We went last Summer, planning to go back in a couple years and see Dawson City, Fairbanks, and Denali.
damn you still have old crown victoria taxis 5:26

Love it! Thanx for posting.
That’s great everyone has the streets memorized already, I would be no good driving without seeing any street lines 🙈
What are you driving in the snow???? I have a Tahoe 4x4 love the snow in PA !!!!!!!
Just like Wisconsin storms. Our traffic lights really get rocking from the wind at times. Also we have people who stop at green lights, bicyclists in snow storms, jay walkers standing in the middle of the street, and that last one...lol.
Wonderful. Thanks a lot for sharing. :)
I love being in a nice warm vehicle watching it snow all around me.
That looks so amazing 🥰

Nice, Thanks for posting.
Living near Buffalo,NY this could pass as a regular snow storm here too. Love winters
from a florida viewpoint of having lived there this place looks like paradise
Me when I drive in snow: "Don't slide. Don't slide. Don't slide."
Nice video, I'd love to live in Alaska someday
GOOD MUSIC :)

Was in the USAF, TDY at Elmendorf; yeah, you get used to it, no worries.
This video makes me homesick for Anchorage :/
Its like a dream 🥰
Could you make another video like this if it snows like this again with the winter coming up, pretty please? And the longer the better, or a lot of shorties. Thank you so much and I hope you get this!
Hello!
Why i can't see the video any more?! Did you remove it? :(
I like it so much, please reload it again!!!
Wow! So, I know Alaskans may laugh at this, but I live in Albuquerque. If it snows an inch here, everything closes - even if it's all melted by noon ...
I think thats safest i like that
+Jon Sánchez Its something everyone should experience learning to drive in snow and ice cause is snows in what 3/4 of the US would be helpful
TS Ts I agree ... Albuquerque drivers can't even drive in the rain. Heck, they can barely drive in normal conditions. 😂
Can you imagine how scary it would be 200 years ago without the lights

Can't be serious! Someone riding a bike at 2:45 of this video? Gotta be freezing his ass off! Hilarious!!!
+Andre Gilbert I don't know where you live but 27°F is not all that cold.
+Pro1er Right.... below freezing not that cold.
@@FlyingDucks21 it's above 10 degrees F I think he'll be fine. 27 degrees is much higher than my town get on average between November and April.
Perfect weather to be sideways through anchorage!
What an amazing place to live.
One day I would love to go to alaska
nice vid dude......!!!
Why didn't you just take piper all the way down to Tudor since you were near providence to begin with?
Dream city Alaska!!!
beautiful!
It used to snow in northern Indiana like this. Not so much these days. What time of day was this shot?
How do older carberated cars do in Alaska. Is fuel injection a must in winters

I've been thinking a lot of moving there. I'm used to driving in the snow and love the cold. what's the avg temp in winter? 10f? 5f?
