I like this video. Honestly, if i was the one driving i would be white knuckling it. But the fact that it is a video with no talking amd someone else is doing the driving, it is cathartic and strangely relaxing.
Nothing more calming and relaxed than a careful, leisurely drive in snow. Music playing. Heater keeping things nice and warm in the vehicle. Kick back brothers and sisters.
music paying, well, that depends on how i'm feeling. but, it is relaxing when driving carefully driving in the snow with the heater on blast right in my face keeping me warm. almost makes me feel like i'm sitting right in front of a fire in a fireplace.
I love driving in that stuff. My 2017 Tacoma gets really good traction in that snow in 4x4 with 4 Blizzack snowtires and abouit 200 lbs of sandbags in the bed . As long as i can see a reasonable distance ahead, I'm all good. Grab a large coffee. Turn on the tunes and chill out and take my time getting home. I never drive in that weather without 1st filling up my tank and having a emergency kit with blanket. Extra sweater. Extra hat , scarf and warm mittens ( not gloves as your hands will stay warmer inside mittens) . Chocolate bars. Bottled water. Candles and a charged 10000mah power pack i bring with me daily for my iPhone and a flares . and I've dressed as if i have to walk somewhere in that same weather. Dont have to wear everything driving. But having it in seat beside you in a good idea. Just in case. Confident is one thing. Still being prepared is another.
When I worked for Jeep Corp we had to come in and work unless it was a level 3 which our sheriff wound never call years and years had to drive to work like this in Toledo,Ohio
The historical definition of a Blizzard is a combination winds above 35 mph and a temperature below 20 degrees with snow falling or a ground blizzard where the wind picks up snow that has already fallen. The term is used by most people to describe a heavy snowstorm with some wind that is cutting visibility and causing bad road conditions, their intention is not to be technical correct but to just relate their experience with a little hyperbole.
@@franzisaryk5965 I was citing the definition from the National Weather Service which is a pretty good authority. Temperature has a lot to do with the definition. You can have Ground Blizzard with no snow falling, the high wind picks up the dry powdery snow and blows it around sometimes causing whiteouts, heavy wet snow will not cause snow drifts nor produce a ground blizzard. The temperature has to be at least in mid twenties or lower to produce blowing, drifting snow, this happens a lot in the upper Midwest and Canada. Anyway no big deal I hope we all can enjoy a White Christmas.
@@fasx56 I wasn't being rude or a dick I was just saying I've never seen temperature as a criteria for a blizzard on the weather channel...Anyway I think it's amazing how you can have a blizzard without it even snowing mother nature is so cool thanks for the conversation
Joes Golden Garage I remember that! I live in the SE corner of Tn near Chattanooga. Only time I ever got to go snow tubing here. That was a lot of fun only being 11 years old at the time. Except for the power outages, of course.
Its 2022 and 2 minutes into the video gas is posted at $1.59 a gallon? Those were the days. I like driving in the snow too. Especially when there is less traffic. It becomes a different world.
@Draggy654 for real though lol I live in Spokane, Washington and yeah we have long dry hot summers, but very cold and snowy winters. The first snow fall is gonna be tomorrow. We're expecting 6 inches which is almost average for a snowy day. I dont think its ever been 50° during the winter
People hate driving in the snow because it can be dangerous but it looks so fun and peaceful to me. Now, the highway or the interstate is my exception. You want to avoid highways and interstates because that is where pileups happen. Most pileups involve 50+ vehicles and some of those vehicles are semis. Being involved in a pileup can be lethal.
There is an art to driving in the snow which takes years to master. Since it does snow often at times in the Washington DC area via nor'easters and I try to keep light pressure on the accelerator and if it is a stoplight ahead, I give myself extra room to decelerate without locking up the brakes.
I would find it a hindrance to drive in conditions where the edge of the pavement was completely obscured and I couldn't really tell where the road was.
THE ONLY APPROPRIATE DASHCAM MUSIC FOR THIS VIDIO IS ' THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE ' BY KING CRIMSON. SOMETHING ABOUT HEAVY MELLETRON KEYBOARDS AND HEAVY WHITEOUT SNOWSTORMS AT DUSK
Try doing this with no rear brakes. I had to come home from Evergreen, CO. to Lakewood, CO. one night, a 15 mile stretch one night in a blizzard, more than half the trip is straight downhill shot, it wasn't until the next day when I took my car to the mechanic is when I found out my Blazer had NO rear brakes at all. I do not know how I ever got it stopped the whole way down.
We get pretty bad Winter Storms but this year 2019 it was the worst ever and the coldest but weve had atleast 4 blizzards in Milwaukee County I live in West Allis Milwaukee County some very hard harsh winters here !!
$1.49 for regular gas?? Wow. Where was this?😂 I know it was 2016, but even then gas prices weren’t that low. Where I live REGULAR GAS is $2.89- $2.92 a gallon. And for deisel? forget it😂
I had to drive 30 miles the back way every morning before the plows came out I had a blast driving through snow drifts. Barely making it through stuff. Driving fast with no room for errors. My 98 Cavalier RS was awesome in the snow. With 215 50 15 in the front and 205 55 r15 in the rear. They were stock with 195 65 15.

@@acbrandt5 I've sent video to my boss from the middle of a whiteout where I couldn't see beyond the hood of the car and it doesn't show how truly bad it is. I watch videos like yours in the summer months to remind me of how much I should appreciate nice sunny days lol.

For the most part, the state road commission does their best to plow the roads even during a heavy snow fall. However, the county (which is much smaller) needs to wait for the snow to let up or stop. There are 100's of 1000's of miles of roads that they need to clean. Naturally they do their best to get the busier roads cleaned first.
