Hello ! I really appreciate your very realistic demo. Unlike the others, you do not try to make us believe that this instrument is the business of the century! Finally an honest person on the internet! Best regards from France. Philippe
Thank you for saying this Philippe! And thank you for acknowledging this. I do try my best to show you the real product without glamorising it too much. I'm not trying to sell anything on this channel - just trying to show people what I see! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Is it even possible there could be ANYONE in this world that wouldn't want this dude to be their best friend and hang out bro? He is so real! Unfortunately, Ohio USA is a long way from Brittain and UK, although I will be visiting London and parts of Ireland in a year.
I am so glad I found your TH-cam channel. You are living proof that people like us are cool. By people like us I mean fluffy dudes that play keyboards lol. I don’t like to call myself fat lol I consider myself and unfortunately you as well, fluffy lol. Thanks again you play extremely well and I really enjoyed this particular video ever since I fell in love with the Benny Hill show I have always had an appreciation for English humor. Thanks again PS please don’t be offended that I called you fluffy lol and yes, I know that I use Lol a lot lol.
yeah it's from the internal speaker - most people record from line out, but i never see the point in that because that's not how you'll hear it in person (unless you use headphones)
Thank you so much for the honest review! I just had one question... When you were talking about it's piano sound being not very good did you mean the piano sound itself or the wauly it sounds because of the bad speakers?
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate that very much. Primarily, I did mean the speakers, yes. But the piano sound itself through headphones is also not great in my opinion. There's just something that sounds a bit low quality through headphones. Perhaps it's the in-built headphone amplifier, perhaps it's just lower quality sampling. However, I'd say it is miles ahead of the Korg XE20 through headphones - that thing is atrocious. One more thing... I tested a top Yamaha N1X recently against a Kawai NV10 and the Kawai sounded much better through headphones. So I'm thinking perhaps it is also the CFX sample I'm not liking too much
@@geezerintotech ohh got it...thanks!☺️ Also if you could suggest a digital piano (same price range) having better piano sound (eg: p125,Roland fp30x,etc)
@@preetthakker4462 From my extensive testing over the past few months, I think it's very hard to beat the sound/feel of the Kawais. Yamahas are solid performers in general, Rolands are a bit soulless (not using recorded samples, instead they are using an in-house synthesized sound which many do not like). Casio is very good value for money, but their key action is a bit inauthentic until you get to the more expensive ones with the grand hammer action (the 310 and 510). Unfortunately, what I've come to find is there isn't much innovation in this sector and it's never really great value for money. I think the ultimate bang for buck is either the yamaha p515 or the kawai mp11se - that's if you want something that will last you from beginner to advanced player (but the mp11se doesn't have inbuilt speakers). Anything lower priced is a bit hit and miss..if you want to be safe and save as much money as possible, perhaps buy the cheapest Clavinova possible (not the Arius range..they're pretty rubbish)
@@geezerintotech got it! Thank you so much... guess I'll have to save up money for some time now haha🤭❣️ Really appreciate your words and efforts to answer my query man...🤜🤛✨
Cheers mate. Yeah I know what you mean. Kind of why I made this channel because I was sick of watching sponsored reviews and gameplaying for views etc. Really appreciate your comment made take care :)
Thank you for a lot of patience, this video really hepls, nothing like that on this gear on the whole web. Love your natural reactions!!👍👍 Really great to hear the tones that instantly ignite the imagination and the drive to play, I'm gonna buy this beast, thanks a lot again! Concerning the action and speakers, we still do not have DGX 670 on display, but if they are the same as 660, I'm OK with them
Hello and thanks for the message and your kind words! I think the DGX 670 is basically unmatched if you want to have, want to get creative and you're not too obsessed about stuff like technique etc. This is what music should be about! Yes, I do think it is very similar to the DGX 660, but we have an upgraded design in terms of the quality, we have much better LCD display with smart functionality etc. Think of it like a laptop upgrade, but you're still running all the same programmes you were before, only it's a better experience! Hope this helps!
@@geezerintotech I guess it's safe to say you really didn't like it. Maybe I should reconsider. I don't the think the Chopin waltz with no pedal is the best demo.
@@JoeLinux2000 Yeah, sorry about that! I had a feeling I would be sending it back once I played it, so I thought best not to unbox the pedal too! I had to try my best to send it back in the condition I received it, but hopefully you understand the points I was making in the video! Are you considering any other pianos?
@@geezerintotech I'm going to go ahead with the DGX, because I think it sounds great as an automated auto accompaniment synth. Your style of playing doesn't do the instrument justice. I posted some great audio of the instrument's full capabilities but somehow it was taken down
@@JoeLinux2000 Unusual it was taken down? Oh well, go ahead with the purchase that's fine..I have no problem with that. I'll go ahead and find another instrument that I prefer I guess
if you want all the features described in the video, for example styles, accompaniments etc - then perhaps this is the best overall piano/keyboard I think, yes. But if you're more piano focused, then I'd stay there are better options out there - I would prefer the Kawai and Rolands because of their actions
@@geezerintotechThanks for the reply! I was interested in Kawais as well. I was leaning more towards dgx670 since I didn’t have any Kawais to try in my locale and the VRM seems like an actual leg up on the competition.
The quality of the speakers is important to me, I bought a second hand Yamaha PSR 670 to learn on and was shocked at the terrible tinny quality of the speakers, so I am immediately selling it. Please advise me would the Roland E50 have better sound than the DGX 670, the three things I am after are firstly brilliant sound via speakers (I won't use headphones or external amps and speakers etc), so I want to feel the music travelling through my body in the bass notes as well as hear it. Then secondly ease of use, I am a complete beginner the Roland sequencer seems easier to use, why do I need 16 tracks as beginner when I will not be recording my own version of Tubular Bells but my own grade 1 version of three bind mice on piano, strings and drums as I am a complete beginner? Many years ago I heard a £300 Casio kids keyboard with 6 speakers, two of which were giant 6 inch speakers - it sounded absolutely brilliant deep and sonorous if you played the piano slowly and one note at a time, you literally FELT the bass notes, that's what i am after but with 88 keys and 256 not 16 note polyphony. Thirdly I want good piano action in the keys. Please could people help me with some good advice, I don't like what several people have said about the DGX 670 speakers it's my number one want, excellent speakers with a deep bass sound and no distortion.
in this price range (and size range) the DGX 670 is basically as good as you're going to get, from my experience. if you want a more authentic playing experience then the budget or the size of the piano has to go up (unfortunately). also the more authentic the digital piano, the fewer features you get - so if you want all those typical keyboard features like accompaniments, styles etc - then the DGX670 is probably the best of the pack (overall). I think the best all round if you want better speakers, better playing keys, some styles/accompaniments etc is the CSP 150 or the CSP 170. It also looks cool and has these cool lights for beginners/intermediate players which helps you play music easier. i did a review on this a while back. it's a really good piano! th-cam.com/video/toF0u0vBH60/w-d-xo.html
It seems like you don't like almost anything about this piano/keyboard and trying to compare an $850 digi piano/keyboard hybrid with a grand! I wonder why did you get this in first place over Grotrian-Steinweg or Bechstein! Yamaha knows exactly what they are doing and its target customer; thus, they are still making things and you're playing it! If anyone watches your video first, would miss out such a nice instrument for such a great price!
Thank you for this! In your opinion, since I can't seem to find it- what are the "Midi Grand", "Midi X,Y,Z...." type voices? The guide just says "midi grand" with no description of what that means. I come from guitar sims where they usually describe briefly what the voice is trying to emulate.
Hello. I believe the Midi Grand voice is just the standard XG MIDI piano voice by Yamaha...inferior to the better CFX/Bosendorfer samples which sample top grand pianos
Brother, your review seems totally different from other TH-camrs. It is indeed reflecting and enlightening as far as the features are concerned. I would really appreciate it if you could suggest to me a digital piano. I am really confused between Yamaha's P125 and DGX 670. I am looking for a digital piano with excellent "Piano" sounds with beautiful variations to the concert grand sound. Until DGX 670 was released, I was quite sure about P125 but after the release of this new DGX, youtube is flooded with its reviews. Somewhere I have gathered an opinion that the piano sounds of DGX 670 are better than P125. Kindly suggest! Love and best wishes from India :)
Thank you Brother for your very kind comment! I would say the P125 is more for if you want to just focus on playing the piano. The DGX670 is if you want to play the piano, but if you want to have fun and experiment with other sounds and features. One big difference is the acommpaniment feature - so you can play like a keyboard player with a band playing in the background. If you want to perform in front of people, I think the DGX 670 is a cool package. It's also great if you want to create. If you want the best piano Yamaha do, then for a bit more money there is the P515 which is really great. It has a much more natural touch compared to the DGX 670. So, to summarise: 1. If you are a beginner pianist = go for the P125 2. If you are beginner pianist, but you also want to discover more about music, create new music, perform more modern music like jazz, world music etc with additional backing tracks = go for the DGX 670 3. If you are an intermediate/advanced pianist and just want to practice the piano = go for the P515 without hesitation! 4. If you are an intermediate/advanced pianist, but you also want to compose music and have fun = go for the Yamaha Clavinova CVP range - like the CVP 701, CVP 805 or CV809. Another option is the range from Kawai - in my experience they are fantastic pianos with a great touch/feel and beautiful piano sounds! Take care my Brother from India ✌️
incredibly, now that I have recently bought a Yamaha DGX-670 and printed out the 3 manuals in larger print and spiral bound them all to easily read: ALL the voices have their very own demo! OMG, but thanks for your taking the time to personally review all the sounds. To have the 670 do it professionally for each and every voice: 1)press one of the 7 voice buttons. -- the COLOR! screen then shows 10 voices. the bottom or last row which has a few more commands. specifically look at the one with a speaker icon that says DEMO. PRESS IT TO HEAR THE YELLOW HI-LIGHTED VOICE! hitting it again stops it. Ta da! and... if you see a button that looks like a computers RETURN KEY on the far right above the FILE key, press it and be rewarded immensely with even more voices...
Very comical demonstration, I enjoyed watching your funny performance. I was contemplating on buying it, but I think you did a great job on all the sounds it can make. I do have one question about the sound, does it have any capabilities to hook it up to an amplifier or a better sound system? Thank you again. Well done! AN
I just bought one and it seems it doesn’t have phaser or a flanger effect that I can add to a tone. And when I googled Yamaha DGX 670 sound list I get a PDF data list of this piano listing a whole lot more sounds that I can’t find on mine. What is this data list?
Hi I have DGX-660 for over a year now. I was playing around with the DGX-670 in the store a few times. I wanted to upgrade to 670, but I'm glad I didn't. There are many things I don't like about this digital piano. First of all, the menus are way to complicated. Every time you make some selection you have to press the "Enter Button!" It will also take a long time to get used to all the commands. Yup, for a new piano is should have the Earphones and possibly the mike output on the front side! The split button and layer button are OK. For now, I'll keep my DGX-660. It is much easier to operate.. and it comes with a book too. Just my two cents. Michael.
I think it really depends on what you want it for. If you are after more of a quality instrument such as better touch, response, sound, power etc, then the P515 is the better instrument. But you will get fewer features in return like voices, styles etc. If, however, you want to muck around on the piano a bit, you want to use keyboard features like accompaniments and styles etc, then perhaps the DGX 670 is the better instrument for that purpose. I am thinking of getting the P515 and for keyboard purposes I might buy a separate keyboard - I think sometimes having separate instruments for specific tasks is the better way to go, but it's more expensive. Another option is the Yamaha CVP range - there is the CVP 805 and 809 which is far more expensive, but they have the special keys, the power, all the keyboard features etc. The Yamaha CVP 701 is still solid I believe, and that is a similar piano but the keys are plastic (I think it's the GH3 action which is superior to GHS in the DGX 670). That is a far more affordable CVP piano. Hope this helps :)
Excellent review. It seems that some of the shortcomings of the sound could be overcome with external powered speakers, since Yamaha has included a setting that allows for using the internal speakers along with external powered speakers. Some of my favorite parts of the DGX670 are the one button instant transpose and the large display.
I like your review, an honest approach. Now I am nearly 80 and no piano player. I have this Yamaha PSr270 Iv'e had for 25 years and crikey have just started to learn since last month as now retired. Never going to be a great player . I like all the sounds it makes but the backing is a bit repetative. I want to upgrade and this is for my own amusement. I fancied the DGX670 because of the 88 keys, but today saw a review of the Modeli AKX 10 wich has confused me. Would realy appreciate your views or recommendation if you have time, to help me mack a judgement. Roy B
Hello mate and hats off to you for picking up the piano at 80! That is amazing stuff and I wish you all the best with it! I wll try and give you a comprehensive breakdown of the differences now... DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MEDELI AND THE DGX 670 The Medeli keyboard you mention is more of an actual keyboard so it can't truly be compared to the DGX 670. The DGX 670 is more of a jack of all trades, master of none. When I played it, I realised the best thing for me is to get a digital keyboard AND an electronic keyboard, because a 2-in-1 device just wasn't cutting the mustard. However, if you are on a tight budget and want something all-round, then the DGX 670 is probably the only and best choice you have right now. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A DIGITAL PIANO AND KEYBOARD With a keyboard, what people tend to do is play chords with the left hand and the right hand will be playing the melody instead; this is very effective and can instantly make a piece of music sound good. To make music you need 3 things...Chords, Melody, Rhythm. On the other hand, a pianist playing digital piano will play chords/melody with both hands. It just takes so much time to get the coordination right and in the end it's not really that worth it unless you perform regularly (or you have a teacher). The other difference between digital pianos and keyboard is that keyboards come with less keys (61) and they do not really require a 'pianist's touch'. Digital pianos also have 'hammer action' keys which give you more control over the sound and require more force to press the keys. However, the 'touch' will take years to develop (you're training your finger muslces at the end of the day), and it requires alot of repetitive practice which can take away the fun. The only thing that kept me practising at school was because I had to prepare something for a teacher. As soon as I left music school, I stopped practising because there was no real reason to continue unless I wanted to perform on stage. The repertoire you will be playing is also different with keyboard and piano. If you want to play classical music like Beethoven, Mozart or even some baroque music like Bach, then you will definitely need a digital piano. Of course, they never had arranger keyboards back then! However, if you prefer to play more modern music or band music (anything from the 20th and 21st century), then perhaps a keyboard would be a more versatile choice. MY RECOMMENDATION The Medeli keyboard would be best compared to something like an arranger keyboard by Yamaha; for example, the Yamaha PSR SX600 or the SX700 would be comparable models. Here are 2 links to these models: www.gear4music.com/Keyboards-and-Pianos/Yamaha-PSR-SX600-Digital-Arranger-Keyboard/3JBU www.gear4music.com/Keyboards-and-Pianos/Yamaha-PSR-SX700-Digital-Arranger/32W8 If you wanted to learn piano/keys because you want to get creative and just enjoy playing, then I would recommend you a proper arranger keyboard like the Yamaha PSR series. They are very powerful tools and have some excellent, realistic tones. I would actually love one myself. Yamaha products are known for being rock solid, dependable performers. This is also a consideration because as a beginner you don't want to be faffing around with a buggy keyboard, or a broken keyboard that needs to go back for repair. I can't say I have tried the Medeli keyboards myself, but as a musician who went to a music school (and I know many trained pianists), what I have heard and experienced is you want something by Yamaha or perhaps even something like a Roland or Nord. But I would personally stick with Yamaha as I feel they are more user friendly (especially for beginners). There is a reason why Yamaha sell the most instruments out of any company in the world...I believe 25% of all new instruments are Yamahas...if they weren't good, people wouldn't buy them! Another option is keep the PSR 270 that you currently have - you say the backing sounds repetitive, but perhaps a keyboard teacher will help you get more out of this keyboard? There might be some other features you aren't fully using yet perhaps? I hope this information helps you Roy!
It took me quite a while trying to understand the purpose of this evaluation of the dgx-670. I understand it was recorded some time ago, I sincerely hope, your musical skills have developed to a better scale. Anyhow this is one point of view, playing solo/monophonic instruments in chords must be definitly sound bad unless you play them in perfect harmony. Since I started learning music, I was 8 at that time, I developted a certain way of hearing and most of all appriciating the development of electronic/digital instruments. The point is, my opinion, you don't know what you're doing, I received the dgx at my home two days ago and already, after a night of persisting to find any faults in any way, I must say .... I did not succeed. I've played the best key instruments in the world and no, I'm not talking about Yamaha or Korg or Roland, I talk about Ensonique, Kurzweil, Fairlight etc. and some other brands that where exceptional in their times, who remembers the Solina strings hahaha, but still... As I wrote, I own now a Dgx-670 since a few days, already performed with it and, in my opinion this instrument is the best Yamaha could create within the affortable price ranges. Keys .... my friend, you got white ones and black ones..., if you can play the keys, you can play any keys. No matter that they feel somewhat different as a Yamaha grand Piano of 21.000€. I know the feeling but I adapt, because, this is only a magnificent instrument of barely a 1000€. So, I'm sorry to judge you, but, I advice you to start learning music, and make evaluations that are real, honest and without actually thinking you were payed by another branche to get this one down. Who am I to discuss? ... I'm 62 now, started playing at 8, started performing at 12 and started working as a pro productanalist for Yamaha when I was 23. Performed all around the world, played with Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie etc but ..... who am I comparing to you.....
Thanks for the comment. I agree this is a great product, with only the slightest of niggles. I also agree that I'm not very good at the piano - but I'm trying my best to improve! Have a good day! -MDT
How can you see chords without backing tracks?" Can we just choose a piano sound and try to work out the chord on our own? For example, if we flat the 3rd in real time we would see it go to a minor chord and then if we sharpen it we would see it go back to a major chord. Is that possible on the 670?
@@geezerintotech I'm looking for something with good variety and quality of sounds and rhythms along with a 'really' good piano sound. Targeting Korg Havian for a long time, but when the Dgx 670 comes out, I think it will go 'old'. what would you say? (budget is under $1000)
@@ahmetayhan6993 Hi Ahmet. I think for the budget you have the Yamaha DGX 670 is probably the best option. The only real downside I found was the key action but for the price maybe you can't complain!
@@ahmetayhan6993 korg havian is discontinued here in the UK. Yamaha DGX 670 is a new product which launched in 2020. So I think it is going to have more up to date features and newer sounds. The korg might have the nicer key action because the yamaha wasn't all that great when I tested it. But everything else on the Yamaha was decent. I have very recently tried the Korg XE20 and I think compared to the Yamaha DGX 670 it is an inferior digital piano
Unlike other reviews, this one sounds very tinny /plastic.? Isn't it placed too close to the wall with smooth hard surface? Really, I wanted to buy a 670 but after listening to this, I will rather not.
@@suhaibabass2837 I don't have a problem with the speakers at all! Sounds good to me. I like this keyboard a lot (have had it for 2 weeks) but having just lugged it to band practice last weekend it really is heavy and big!!!
Interesting that in a recent review from Kraft Music the reviewer, Adam, says the keys are not smooth and shiny, and that he likes that they have a textured feel and are not slippery. I wonder if some of the newer units have a different key finish than the earlier units.... Seems unlikely Yamaha would change that midstream. Great review, thanks!!
That's really odd? I only tested this a month or two ago and the one I got came fresh off the boat from Yamaha. Oh well maybe next time I'm in a piano shop I will check again!
Hello. It says there are GM&XG and GM2 sounds available in the manual, but I can’t access them on the actual keyboard? How do I access those sounds? Thank you. :)
Have both experiences, almost similar keybed (or exactly same), arius is more furniture like, compact, sounds a little tighter (which is good), not portable. This one is of course abs plastic, portable, can get addtional furniture stand and pedals or can use Z or X stands. Arius does not come with digital sounds, you have only the 4-5 different piano sounds with dedicated keys on the left, DGX is hybrid of piano and keyboard and while having piano sounds, also have their PSR voices with upgraded sound engine. Speakers are the same. Arius sounds bit bold because of it's heavy and wooden frame and downfiring speakers while DGX speakers are looking at the ceiling and coming out of plastic box. Now it's up to your need which one you need.
Well, I watched and I get it that you want to sample all the sound. I have the DGX670 for a few days now also have another Chinese digi piano and I agree with your observation being… 1. The speakers are not as I expected… the sound is in my face compared to my cheap piano w/c is down firing. I appreciate the sound better when it is resonating downward so I can appreciate the sound response and resonance. The speakers are anemic compared to my $450 Chinese piano with two headphone socket in front… 2. The headphone socket is at the back and only one. It is an effort to move the heavy piano every time I plug and unplug my headphones. Sound is better when I use a monitor speaker as I can relocate the sound but if I use a headphone I have to dismantle the cables and move the piano to plug the headphone. It would have been better if there is a dedicated headphone socket in front and a decent audio out port at the back considering the weight of the piano. 3. Key action is same as my Chinese cheap piano which is a conundrum because I hated it and bought Yamaha thinking it will be much better. What I hate is the noise and thump of the hammer. My Chinese piano after 2 years was noticeably noisy compared to when it was new and I’m afraid the Yamaha will be same as I can already feel and hear the keys now that it is still new. 4. It has no Bluetooth MIDI which my old piano had and I can play learning apps without the cable… something I really appreciate. Now, if I practice with DGX I had to deal with all these cables for MIDI and audio which forces me to use my old piano for convenience… A bit of remorse….. really! Other than that, I think the piano is great.
Pretty, to extremely, difficult to sample the piano's using one song let alone a 3 beat. But you did well considering all the other videos on the DGX 670 use high end speakers and make out the 6w speakers give that quality sound when you see the extension cords to hook them up. It was a good video even though it doesn't express complete ability which I very much appreciate when the pros merely show off. To be honest I'm waiting to win the lottery to buy a Genos to replace my DGX 660 which is quite nice but would love to hook it up to the Yamaha Stagepas1k. Thank you for your honest description and efforts.
Yeah extremely difficult to test a piano in this manner, you are right. I guess my aim in this video was to provide a quick 9 or 10 minute review of the product and then just demo all the voices. Took me ages to complete that and faffing around with different repertoire would have just delayed the process!! Thanks for the feedback! I would absolutely love a Genos omg lol! Next best thing for me would be the PSR range as the higher models are actually very good for the money! I think I'm preferring playing keys these days over traditional piano anyway!
I've got the DGX 660, and i really like it, BUT there are SO MANY cheap voives, that i was going to look for another one even for a high class yamaha keyboard...then ive heard that theres a DGX 670 and was very exited to hearthenew voices...Thanks for that!!! There are many good ones but also too many bad ones...dont need 5000 pianos. And i really hoped that there is an awesome bagpipe Voice.....damn, yamaha you´ve got one !!! Put the CVP Sound in it...The DGX bagpipe Voice is still the same as it is in my 1995 Yamaha "high class" keyboard...rubbish!!! The DGX is too expensive for run of the mill.... Its not a CVP Series but has to be much better than a lowbudget keyboard. Thanks for the review. I hope you enjoy it. My conclusion: itsway better than the dgx 660 but not good enough to get rid of the 660 and purchase the 670.
yeah everything you're saying is true. I think best thing is to save for a CVP series and then you get the quality and the quantity. I'm trying to get a CVP 805 at the moment
Do you use.. Amplifier..? Or the.. Onboard speaker on this piano? You think.. I'll buy ampli for better sound on this..? Or it's enough for the speaker on dgx 670?
Not really a fan of playing the same tune for all categories, maybe have a different tune suited for the category, but I’m not even 1/4 through so I’ll be listening while doing stuff.
Ok fair enough! I guess the reason I did it like that is so people get an understand how the voices sound given the same input. Tried to make the test more scientifically fair as it were. But I'll take these comments on board! Thank you and have a nice day!
When I ordered it, there was also no stock. But after I ordered it, the ETA reduced to a couple of weeks when initially it said 2 months. So if you really want it then might be worth a try ordering it anyway! Good luck
@@geezerintotech Yeh, had a blast, couldn't stay off it - perhaps thats why I got so good at it lol. Still play occasionally on the Master Chief Collection for PC, but like all good things, my glory days killing noobs has come to an end... haha :P
This review sucks.. I would not base my purchase decision on this lazy review.. Several reasons, the acoustics in his room and overall audio quality is poor. The speakers on the keyboard are muted because nothing is resonated by his walls. The keyboard is too close to the wall. It's not an upright piano. He's playing, poorly, the same song which after hearing it a dozen times is annoying by itself... I own this keyboard and it truly will blow you away when not played in Johnny's little closet bedroom.. There are tons of other demos of this out there. Go see one of them.. Sorry Proper, not harm meant. Next time don't do the click bait thing and review your video audio quality first before you put it out there.. Also, move the keyboard to another open space and away from the walls when recording it or record it properly through and audio input.. Cheers..
I know - for what you get for the money, it is still a good deal I think. I think the GH3 could have been used..or perhaps there could have been a DGX 670 Pro Edition that comes with the upgraded keys.. Oh well...this is a pipe dream!
Man Discovers Tech Obviously GH3 is better than GH because it has one more sensor than GH, so they would have to consider using GH first if they wanted to do a huge upgrade, which GH is already a far superior action to GHS.
@@DrMukundGupta No i didn't. I heard of the Korg XE20 and I think some others by Casio, Roland and Kawai.. I think some of those might have better-feeling keys than the Yamaha. So it all really depends on what is important to you. I had to purchase and try this DGX 670 to realise what I did not like about it
Yeah, they're alright..not the best. I also found that many of the voices sound basically the same as each other. You could probably achieve similar results in alot of cases with EQ
Hate the Kboard computer click noise , I have the DGX 530 and 650 olmos y same styles all are cheap and you have to plug to a amplifier they are overpriced for the quality and waist of money beside no service provided the 650 is busted the Bending wheel no service found
This "advanced" pianist simply cannot do more, and surely that is the first thing needed if you are going to demonstrate such an elaborate instrument. Am curious to see his violin demo when it comes out.
MY DGX 660 HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STYLE 144 ENGLISH WALTZ, WHEN YOU PLAY IT WITH CHORDS YOU CAN HEAR A SHHH SOUND, IT'S HORRIBLE, I HOPE YAMAHA CAN REFUND ME 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Thanks for taking the time to showcase all the voices. I've been considering getting this for a while!
I take it the sound is from the internal speker ?
The piano sounds are quite awful compare to other reviews.
thanks for the honest review.
yeah it's from the internal speaker - most people record from line out, but i never see the point in that because that's not how you'll hear it in person (unless you use headphones)
Thank you for all of this, and for doing each sound rather quickly. Sealed the deal for me. Buying one.
So I'm thinking perhaps it is also the CFX sample I'm not liking too much
@@geezerintotech ohh got it...thanks!☺️
Also if you could suggest a digital piano (same price range) having better piano sound (eg: p125,Roland fp30x,etc)

Excuse me, Can you upload the factory demo songs of the DGX670?
Apologies but I can't do this as I've now sent the piano back!

would you still consider this the best keyboard you can find for this price?
if you want all the features described in the video, for example styles, accompaniments etc - then perhaps this is the best overall piano/keyboard I think, yes.

So, to summarise:
1. If you are a beginner pianist
= go for the P125
2. If you are beginner pianist, but you also want to discover more about music, create new music, perform more modern music like jazz, world music etc with additional backing tracks
= go for the DGX 670
3. If you are an intermediate/advanced pianist and just want to practice the piano
= go for the P515 without hesitation!
4. If you are an intermediate/advanced pianist, but you also want to compose music and have fun
= go for the Yamaha Clavinova CVP range - like the CVP 701, CVP 805 or CV809.
Another option is the range from Kawai - in my experience they are fantastic pianos with a great touch/feel and beautiful piano sounds!
Take care my Brother from India ✌️

Great stuff. Did you find name of the evil sounding song you played halfway through the video?

Michael.
Thanks Michael for your valuable input (which I happen to agree with!)
So I should get the p 515 instead is what I'm hearing?
This was a great video for a great keyboard!
Bravo well done! Love it!
Excellent review. It seems that some of the shortcomings of the sound could be overcome with external powered speakers, since Yamaha has included a setting that allows for using the internal speakers along with external powered speakers. Some of my favorite parts of the DGX670 are the one button instant transpose and the large display.
Thanks for the feedback 😀
I like your review, an honest approach. Now I am nearly 80 and no piano player. I have this Yamaha PSr270 Iv'e had for 25 years and crikey have just started to learn since last month as now retired.
Never going to be a great player . I like all the sounds it makes but the backing is a bit repetative. I want to upgrade and this is for my own amusement.
I fancied the DGX670 because of the 88 keys, but today saw a review of the Modeli AKX 10
wich has confused me.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MEDELI AND THE DGX 670
The Medeli keyboard you mention is more of an actual keyboard so it can't truly be compared to the DGX 670.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A DIGITAL PIANO AND KEYBOARD
With a keyboard, what people tend to do is play chords with the left hand and the right hand will be playing the melody instead; this is very effective and can instantly make a piece of music sound good.
MY RECOMMENDATION
The Medeli keyboard would be best compared to something like an arranger keyboard by Yamaha; for example, the Yamaha PSR SX600 or the SX700 would be comparable models.
Here are 2 links to these models:
www.gear4music.com/Keyboards-and-Pianos/Yamaha-PSR-SX600-Digital-Arranger-Keyboard/3JBU
www.gear4music.com/Keyboards-and-Pianos/Yamaha-PSR-SX700-Digital-Arranger/32W8
If you wanted to learn piano/keys because you want to get creative and just enjoy playing, then I would recommend you a proper arranger keyboard like the Yamaha PSR series.
How do I get one of these? I want one so bad!
It’s great! I’ve got one now.
Video with all style, with 4 variation?
sorry mate, the piano was sent back! I didn't like the feel of the keys and the speakers!

How can you see chords without backing tracks?" Can we just choose a piano sound and try to work out the chord on our own? For example, if we flat the 3rd in real time we would see it go to a minor chord and then if we sharpen it we would see it go back to a major chord. Is that possible on the 670?

Nice video. Lots of reviews out there, but I don't think anybody else cataloged all the sounds.
Interesting that in a recent review from Kraft Music the reviewer, Adam, says the keys are not smooth and shiny, and that he likes that they have a textured feel and are not slippery. nice man this is what i need
Hey.. Sir.. Do you think.. Yamaha ydp arius 164 is better than this?
They will have similar keyboards - the Arius is more of a standalone piano - the DGX is more of a keyboard/piano so it has more functions
Can you do a vudeo about the style
The one with the low voices where at the beginning with the child caption reminded me of banjo Tooie in terms of the sound lmao
Well, I watched and I get it that you want to sample all the sound.
I have the DGX670 for a few days now also have another Chinese digi piano and I agree with your observation being…
1. The speakers are not as I expected… the sound is in my face compared to my cheap piano w/c is down firing. I appreciate the sound better when it is resonating downward so I can appreciate the sound response and resonance. The speakers are anemic compared to my $450 Chinese piano with two headphone socket in front…
Now, if I practice with DGX I had to deal with all these cables for MIDI and audio which forces me to use my old piano for convenience…
A bit of remorse….. really!
Other than that, I think the piano is great.
Any issues with the keys so far?
Nice overview. Thanks
You sir are a legend
Do you use.. Amplifier..? Or the.. Onboard speaker on this piano? You think.. I'll buy ampli for better sound on this..? Or it's enough for the speaker on dgx 670?
I just used the in-built amplifier/speakers
You could add Bluetooth speakers
Not really a fan of playing the same tune for all categories, maybe have a different tune suited for the category, but I’m not even 1/4 through so I’ll be listening while doing stuff.
Ok fair enough! I guess the reason I did it like that is so people get an understand how the voices sound given the same input. Tried to make the test more scientifically fair as it were.
But I'll take these comments on board! Thank you and have a nice day!
Thank you. That was usefull.
Thank you - your kind feedback is also useful to me :)
Its nice your demontration
Excellent review!!!!!
Thank you :)
no one has it in stock right now
When I ordered it, there was also no stock. But after I ordered it, the ETA reduced to a couple of weeks when initially it said 2 months. So if you really want it then might be worth a try ordering it anyway!
Good luck
@@geezerintotech same happens to me.
113 minutes later - "that was quick, firing up my 670 and repeating..."
48:18 - Name the tune = Halo
yay! man's an expert!
@@geezerintotech Nah, but I was pretty good at the game back in the day lol :)
@@gr3ywolf144 halo pc combat evolved? That was my jam lol
@@geezerintotech Yeh, had a blast, couldn't stay off it - perhaps thats why I got so good at it lol.
Still play occasionally on the Master Chief Collection for PC, but like all good things, my glory days killing noobs has come to an end... haha :P
@@gr3ywolf144 haha - i don't know if you've noticed but the players today are too good! Either i've got crap or the kiddies today play too much
This review sucks.. Cheers..
There’s no way that Yamaha even puts GH action on digital piano below 1000 dollars, although I really wish they could...
@@scottliu6042 I have sent this back now and I think I am going to try the P515 with the NWX keys and/or a Kawaii model maybe..
@@geezerintotech did you come across any other arranger digital piano keyboard Better than this
@@DrMukundGupta No i didn't. I heard of the Korg XE20 and I think some others by Casio, Roland and Kawai..
I think some of those might have better-feeling keys than the Yamaha. So it all really depends on what is important to you.
I had to purchase and try this DGX 670 to realise what I did not like about it
Like to see the keyboard collapse down and hear him go .."fck! fckn hell!!"..
Really helpful.
The choirs sounds, sound better if you play chords
i'm sure they do! i was impressed
thx fort the vidéo !
Most of the sounds on the DgX are intended for accompaniment only. They sound terrible when played on their own...
Yeah, they're alright..not the best. I also found that many of the voices sound basically the same as each other. You could probably achieve similar results in alot of cases with EQ
Hate the Kboard computer click noise , I have the DGX 530 and 650 olmos y same styles all are cheap and you have to plug to a amplifier they are overpriced for the quality and waist of money beside no service provided the 650 is busted the
Bending wheel no service found
Is that all you know is one song? 😅
Its very anoying play the same melody on al the different sounds...
This "advanced" pianist simply cannot do more, and surely that is the first thing needed if you are going to demonstrate such an elaborate instrument. Am curious to see his violin demo when it comes out.
MY DGX 660 HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STYLE 144 ENGLISH WALTZ, WHEN YOU PLAY IT WITH CHORDS YOU CAN HEAR A SHHH SOUND, IT'S HORRIBLE, I HOPE YAMAHA CAN REFUND ME 👎👎👎👎👎👎
That's a shame buddy. Hope you get it sorted !
Fernando the “shhh” you hear its the brush of the drum
When you play bad sounds bad ( no matter the instrument)
haha nice!
I DIDNT HEAR THE BREATHY SAX VOICE
🤷 - i though i went through the whole list
Anyway, what does it sound like?
also für mich bist du leider nicht die richtige person,um dieses neue e-piano vorzuführen.ich hätte gerne mehr von den styles auch mal gehört.anstatt da rumzuspielen.
danke
Halo lol
bullseye
You make me not want to buy it
incredibly, now that I have recently bought a Yamaha DGX-670 and printed out the 3 manuals in larger print and spiral bound them all to easily read: ALL the voices have their very own demo!
