In my opinion etali is probably one of the strongest commanders to come out this year, its literally the only gruul commander i have and let me tell you, what an absolute monster that deck is.

Etali seems strong for sure and almost made the list! I just haven’t seen it enough to form a good opinion yet! But I’ll be testing it soon!

This is a fine set of commanders for sure. I'm especially happy to see you bring up a Colorless commander, and it's great that Wizards is finally starting to support them after basically forgetting about them throughout the commander explosion of the last 5 years.
My favorite commander from last year, and the one I'm most surprised to not see here, is Thalia and The Gitrog Monster.. it's very clear to me that Wizards does look at the stats on EDHRec and the like, because Abzan and Jeskai needed some love this past year & they damn sure got it. As good as some of the precons were though for them, Narset & Thalrog were what really revitalized them imo. For an abzan commander it's just so efficient: Card Advantage, Ramp, Sac outlet, free to swing, great colors for creature decks. It reminded me a lot Siege Rhino, but as like a commander equivalent, so I built a midrange deck that reminded me of that era and it's been an absolute blast.

It's crazy how your voice is just like Hoop reference (nba TH-camr)

Does Kroxa and dog with Altar even work? I believe you need to choose the target for the trigger even before resolving it. So you can't reanimate them with their own trigger, right?

Yes the combo works if you want to check look up the combo on the commander spellbook

I had never built a colourless deck until i saw Graaz, the old skool player in me melted haha
Its actually a really tricky deck to get wins with, it puts some serious power out on the board but the 'attack every turn' clause is something you really have to play around.
Fun to build, fun to play. The more entrenched you are in deck building, the more fun you will have 👍
Graaz's lore is cool as sht too. The only remaining Leveller from Memnarch's reign over Mirrodin, the one that even the Phyrexians couldnt kill or Compleat. Just does laps of New Phyrexia, levelling everything in its path 🤘

Ovika, Enigma Goliath is my favorite of the year, for the simple reason that she was the second commander deck I built (more or less) from scratch irl and the first commander deck (self built or otherwise) that really made me feel "wow. this feels good. I want to play more of this." My first scratch built deck was Syr Konrad which was basically just "monoblack good stuff that I have in my big old box of cards."
In terms of which card is my favorite of the year in terms of its actual effect, probably River Song. The two effects kind of have nothing to do with each other but they're both super cool and unique effects, especially the first one. I just theorycrafted a casual storm deck around her built around manipulating my draws as much as possible and playing several spellslinger cost reducers to get a massive storm turn with past in flames

River Song is also maybe not *super* powerful but definitely powerful. I think it says something that of the 19 EDHRec decks for her listed under the "storm" archetype, all 19 are obviously cEDH decks. I think what's interesting is that of her two completely different abilities, the one that makes her interesting to build around in casual (well, to me at least) is the opposite of the one that makes her a decent cEDH pick (since slapping your opponents every time they search their library in competitive is better than it is in casual). Although I *am* surprised that none of her cEDH lists seem to use her first ability at all even though I feel like that kind of deck manipulation would be even better in competitive to help you cycle through your deck and find your combo pieces but maybe I'm just missing something (or there are cEDH River Song decks that do that, they just weren't listed as storm decks)

okay, I say none of them use her first ability at all, that's not true, they use her ability with two cards, Conhurer's Bauble and Transplant Theorist, to get some solid recursion
