Do you have to erase the trouble code or do it automatically reset once the issue is fixed

Ambient Air Sensors for BMW's could be aftermarket right? My car failed Smog & I checked the sensor & it was completely ripped off. Would Aftermarket be fine to pass smog?

Will a missing temp sensor cause the issue of not passing smog? (comprehensive monitor not ready after several hundred miles of driving)

What's going on. I own a BMW 328xi 2007. On my right passenger side the fog and ambient air temperature sensor wiring are missing. How can I find the sensor start connection? I want to fix it from the main connector.

I replaced sensor with a new one, but cluster still reads -40 degrees. Wires Seem in good condition, so do i need to reset the cluster/recode it?

      Mine says same thing bro

If it reads -40 or 122 the sensor is bad or it could be your wiring. Unhook your cars battery then. Take the plug off the sensor and clean the contact points inside with electrics cleaner spray and a small wire brush be gentle clean inside the 2 opening holes on the plug as good as you can hook it all back up if that doesn't fix the issue you got a bad sensor even new it does happen. The bmw oem sensor is only a few bucks more so if you got an aftermarket sensor get the oem bmw one this time

It took mine 2 months to finally start giving a reading, would stay at 110. And when raining jump to minus 40. Talk about finicky electronics

Where did those two white wires coming out of the sensor connect to? I lost the whole sensor system and don’t know where they go

In my case the bad sensor was showing wrong temperature, the difference was 2.5°C, when I started the engine from the beginning it was -18°C and wa increasing to about 3°C while the real temperature was 5.5°C. After exvhange for the new sensor it shows -18°C and doesn't increase... what should Ido?
I'd like to point that in European version you have to do much more work to change the sensor...

@Christopher Robins 2001 325i Touring (LCI), in my case to change the sensor it was bit harder but still not very hard, screwdriver and 4 screws to go. I did it and it's 0.5°C difference now.
