Pokemon is a series with a lot of unanswered questions and big mysteries. Some of these mysteries, even after decades of existing, have never been fully solved, which is why in this video, I am going to be giving my personal answers to some of the BIGGEST questions that Pokemon has ever seen, and see if I might be able to provide a legitimate explanation. I hope you enjoy!

what if Gary and Ash are cousins. Like what if Oak and Ashes grandpa were brothers. what would be really crazy is if Ash and Gary were secrety brothers. ashes mom has brown hair, like Gary. Ash and Gary have similar hair styles, maybe that's why he's always been an asshole. he may know that one of Ashs parents is one of his parents.
@Will Konemann definitely could see that. Maybe half brothers? Like Gary’s dad is Ash’s dad. Gary’s dad had an affair with Ash’s mom. Gary’s mom and dad had a ripple in the marriage and caused some issues in the household for Gary. Gary then takes it out of Ash.
I like the idea that Diglett and Dugtrio's bodies are hidden beneath the surface and I definitely want to see more than just the heads (perhaps in a future installment). Besides Mega Evolution, I also want to see Dynamaxing and Gigantimaxing return as I would like to see some pokemon from Gen 4 get some love in this phenomenon, such as Lucario, Luxray, Lopunny, Bibarel and Garchomp.
When I was putting this video together, it ran a bit longer than I anticipated and I had to cut some of the questions, but if this video does well and you'd like to see it, I'll have a part 2 to this video coming soon! It was a lot of fun to put together!

I'm guessing it's because of the details regarding Ash's father and grandfather, but awesome job covering it and I would love to see a part 2!
If anything, it would make sense for Gamefreak to have Mega Evolution to be in remakes for the Gens 5-8+ sense the remakes kinda seem like an alternate universe of the original games of that Generation. Sense ORAS is within the "Mega Evolution Timeline", I don't see why other existing regions wouldn't be in the same universe as X & Y, ORAS, SM/USUM and Let's Go PE. Sure BDSP doesn't have it, but that doesn't mean they won't do it for other remakes.
Also if there will be more Legends games in the future, they could make one for Kalos to resolve the "Ghost Girl" story. It could be possible that she's a time traveler looking for the protagonist of that game or that she would be alive at that time and we could possibly know who she was looking for; possibly her friend/partner who past away at the time or after that Legends game.
I find it really interesting that Ash's dad and grandpa never returned home from their journeys as they were seen as failures. I think it's a bit sad but also very realistic. Many fathers and grandfathers in japan leave their families forever, which is often a direct result of losing a job, money or reputation. Japan has a very strong culture around the concept of honor. It's good that Seppuku isn't really a thing anymore, but sadly many fathers and grandfathers still leave their families out of fear of bringing shame to their family legacy. It's a very old way of thinking and not as common now as it was 50 years ago or so. On a more positive note, the rate of fathers and grandfathers leaving their families bc of those issues is going down within the past decades, as slowly more and more people are becoming more openminded and more willing to receive help and support. I hope that Ash's father and grandfather will one day see their son/grandson be the Pokemon Master that they always dreamed of becoming. I'm sure they would be proud.
Even by the point Pokemon Started in 1990 that way of thinking for fathers in Japan started fading away, although the Grandfather who failed as a trainer probably stayed away for that reason. There is a theory that an old man that Ritchie meets in an episode of Chronicles was related to Ash & could have very well been that Grandfather. Also it should be noted that people generally have 2 Grandfathers 1 from each parent. You have to wonder what became of the Grandfather who wasn't a trainer & that raises the question of who were Ash's Grandmothers? Gary's Family other than Professor Oak also remains a mystery. Also which grandparents were which?
As for Ash's Father there's a common theory that he was killed by Giovanni. This is most supported by the original plans for the series from The Animation book & explains quite a bit such as why the anime avoids having them meet to such an extent. This theory also ties into why Ash's Mother is a lot more worried about him in the early series because she knew the dangers that trainers faced & she likely suspected she was a widow. Sure there are other theories for Ash's Father although they tend to contradict the original world building.
Basically these dudes went out for a pack of cigarettes despite not smoking 😂
I think if they ever do come back they will see Ash’s success and be jealous creating the most evil of all evil teams in order to take down Ash for achieving their dreams LONG before they did ironically achieving their dreams of becoming strong Pokémon trainers.
Or I guess they could just be proud of him or some other quick lame participation trophy like answer.

Just one problem with this though, Giovanni is implied to be Ash's Dad in the musical. (Or was it an on ice thing? I don't remember.)
Imagine how cool it would be if we got a regional variant or a new branched evolution for Diglett that revealed Diglett's legs.

It’s called Drilbur.
Due to its new environment it was given a different name by the locals and it also evolved in a different way becoming Excadrill instead of Digtrio likely due to the vast amount of steel from the industrial areas and lack of other Diglett/Drilbur with which to cohabitate with eventually evolving singularly rather than together.
I like to believe that Ash’s dad and grandfather follow an old-school traditional style of raising Pokémon where they aren’t registered as actual trainers, but they train Pokémon to high levels in seclusion. Almost in a Red-esque Mt. Sillver style as we see in Pokémon gold and silver.
I like to think they’re doing something important too.
That’s possible they train off the grid

Knowing how Ash and Pikachu almost died to spearow on their first-ever day outside of Pallet Town, I have a feeling both the Father and Grandfather weren't so lucky.
I didn't even consider the existence of Ash's Grandfather before now!
They wouldn't have passed up the chance to see their Boy grow up.
Delia must be so heartbroken to think the father is a deadbeat, but now that seems less likely because the Grandfather is in the equation too. (Can't be there for your kid, but not your kid's kid.)

Theory: Missingno is intentional
Missingno is a failed attempt at Porygon. Its found at Cinnabar Island, where Porygon was first created, and it also is living code. Although, because unlike Porygon, it does not have a physical form yet, it is able to take on multiple forms, like the Ghost of the Marowak or the Aerodactyl/Kabutops skeletons.
And on the topic of Porygon, Missingno’s code might also be used in the Dubious Disc item, since reintroducing code that is already known to be buggy causes issues in the programming.

The closest we got was a visual glitch in X and Y, as an oversight with the buildings being culled.
Didn't Gen 4 give Missingno or M the features of Arceus? Also I never knew Porygon was created on Cinnabar Island. What if Missingno was related to the Mewtwo Project & a failed attempt at Arceus recreation making it a failed prototype of Type:Null without stable form?
@@UltimateFunBilly it’s not, missingno is a bunch of glitched textures, the ghost on Tera hat is actually Marowak’s ghost from gen 1. For some reason the pokemon community decided to connect the two things
The answer to what Diglett's legs look like underneath is actually kept a well guarded secret by the pokemon company. I believe that only one person honestly got the really rare chance to look at the underneath of Diglett for some really specific reason.

Remember how on Ash’s first day as a Pokemon trainer had them get nearly killed by a flock of Spearow, only managing to survive since Pikachu has a type advantage. They might have perished on that same event.

In the case of Diglet and Dugtrio, I trust the Pokedex and believe that Dugtrio is just a team of Diglet triplets that emerged from one body, but their heads bob separately up and down as its entries says. However, I can't tell if they have just one common body or three bodies tightly merged together, but those arts looked amazing.
They are like the gold ranger in power rangers zeo. Triplets who can only metamorphosis or “morph” aka EVOLVE when they become 1.
Unless of course they are Jason from mighty morphin in which case that’s why we got Drilbur who can evolve all by itself.
What if dugtrio was connected by tails like a rat king?
7:45 Reminds me of the two nameless trainers who took the other starters in the first episode and were eventually noted by Oak as having given up due to lack of skill despite a strong start as trainers. Or how in the games most people you meet in the game can't get their pokemon to a high level even with a life time of training (or heck, Team Skull consisting mostly of trainers who ended up unable to make a living at it).
You know I forgot about them. And I used to be super curious at who they were as a kid too. We know they got past Brock and Misty's sisters as they directly mentioned that trainers from Pallet came through ther but after that, nothing. For the entire rest of the show.

I like the case about ash’s father and grandpa even though it’s really sad. As for the ghost girl, I hope that we get an explanation for the whole event in the future. The digglet evolution one seems very accurate. Also, I would like mega evolution to come back as well.
I love it when you have a more realistic approach to these questions. Like, figuring out what developers might be thinking rather than in-universe theory is that honestly where probably never thought of by anyone at the game freak
That diglett is adorable, but one change I would have for the dugtrio is to keep the upturned ground as a "collar" on it, disguising and emphasising that odd triangular "shoulder/neck" in that design. Though overall, I'd adopt it as headcanon like the apple-less applin.

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeons, it is emphasized that Diglett has feet.
Diglett & Dugtrio are based on the Whac-A-Mole arcade games which were very popular around the 1980's and 1990's iirc. Some of these Whac-A-Mole arcades also still exist in Tokyo to this day. Tokyo is part of the real life region of Kanto in Japan, which the Kanto Region within the world of Pokemon is based on. It would be kind of cool to see Dugtrio having a variant or evolution that is a literal arcade machine.
Actually Morimoto, Diglett's creater said he made diglett as a kid and he graduated in the late 80 so diglett was made in the 70s or very late 60s
@@bewearstar9462 Thank you so much. That's really interesting. I'm not sure if Whac-A-Mole was already available in Japan in the 1970's as it was invented in 1976 by a US American inventor named Aaron Fechter according to Wikipedia. I should also mention I'm no expert on Whac-A-Mole nor arcades. I find it really interesting though that the moles of Whac-A-Mole look very similar to Diglett's and Dugtrio's visible bodies. In Whac-A-Mole sometimes a single mole comes out of the "molehill" and sometimes multiple moles come out at the same time so that would be an explaination for the evolution from 1 Diglett to 3 Digletts aka Dugtrio.
Considering Ash is the second most powerful trainer in the world his dad would be proud

Also you keep saying that the Ghost girls started with X&Y, or at least that's where the trend started. But I'd argue it started with Diamond and Pearl, granted that one had a ghost girl and a ghost Butler (I think) but then Black and White, the generation after that, we had a whole side quest with a ghost girl.
Well, those two cases actually have to do with a ghost Pokémon/something meant to be scary. Some random NPC that doesn't have a walk animation and doesn't connect to anything in the story doesn't count.
@@Retro_Red I mean it is still a ghost girl, but if you won't count that, then Black and White and their sequels have a ghost girl with her own storyline
Ash mentions his dad in one of the newer movies, the one with the Monkey lol. He mentions how his dad would always say "The map that leads to your goals is already inside you" whenever he felt down about his dreams. Meaning that Ash did grow up with his dad. Though because this is a movie it could be considered non-canon, it is the most recent information we've been given.
It's non canon simply because it takes place in alternate universe, it's a different Ash than the one from the main series, and the movies prior to Movie 20.

I had heard of the Pokemon anime book, but I've never heard those quotations. Thanks for reading them; they were very enlightening!
Ok, I have two different theories about diglett. 1: what if diglett are actually eatrhworms? Because Brock picks up a dugtrio in the anime and it has nothing under it, showing it could have a body that can extend and pull back in. 2: they live inside rocks. Going back to when Brock picks up a dugtrio, what if it can pull its limbs into it's body? Kind of like how a tortoise pulls itself into it's Shell. And they just are encased in a chunk of earth like crustle's shell.
It has to have claws. The Dugtrio line gets a lot of scratch moves including Scratch, Slash, and Shadow Claw.
Based on Ash's competency as a trainer himself. I'm not surprised about information on his dad/grandpa

I love the fan theory that pikachu is ashes dad. I think this can be real with the thought gen 1 was thought to be the only gen they were going to do. Bill was a heavy interest in this series of changing people into pokemon. SO the theory he was an amazing trainer that was turned into a pokemon to try and better understand what his pokemon go through so he can become the best. somehow unable to turn back he lives as a pokemon till ash comes along(maybe even years later). This is why the attachment to each other, why pikachu wont evolve, and why he wont go in the ball. I personally think they would end the series where ash uses pikachu to be the greatest and only after do, bill comes running in, recognizing somehow that this is that pikachu and changes him back. This makes his dad a champion too with his son. Full circle and a loving ending.(ash's dad beats up oak for getting to close to ash's mom. XD)

Again, the ghost girl trend didn't start with Lumiose City. Ghost girls are as far back as Gen 4 (Diamond and Pearl), from what I can remember

I love your Diglett so much! Also it was interesting to learn that 1 of Ash's Grandfathers was a trainer who went missing, which makes you wonder about his other 3 Grandparents. I don't know why you pretend that Hex Maniac astral projecting herself was the 1st Ghost Girl when she was clearly alive elsewhere & we got actual ghost girls before her in the series like in Old Chateau. I'm curious about Gary's Family & the 2 Lost Rivals of the Gen 1 Anime as well. The closest we got to answers of those 2 Lost Rivals was the I Choose You Movie.

I wish Pokemon kept up with the whole multiverse thing going. And possibly switch between the 2 worlds we know to point out how different they are. Like Galar could take place in the same universe as gen 1 2 3 4 and 5 while 6, oras, and 7 are in another. The ultra beast could still exist in both worlds and maybe the ones without megas have even more ultras to compensate.
For the Diglet/Dugtrio line I feel like the alolan formes might have drills underneath them because it would make sence with the steel typing and I think it would look cool.

the thumbnail made me think this video was going to be commisioned art of mysterious pokemon like diglett's body, what foretress looks like without its shell, mimikyu, tangela, etc
I think you two's dugtrio interpretation would be better if it was described as three large digletts that were stuck together by a sturdy chunk of ground (it doesn't make sense you say it can't be three individuals, considering how many pokemon are more than one creature working together, like kangaskan, mantine, or falinx). it could still look the same as it does, but they wouldn't be three-headed and the reason they have "just one set of limbs" would be because only some of their hands or feet were able to stick out (the others are encased in the sturdy soil).
Alternatively, it'd be fun imagery if Dugtrio amd Diglet were like a recently pulled beetroot, carrot, raddish, potato, etc with dirt stuck onto to it.
and then the many hands and feet of a Dugtrio poking out through that dirty casing would give the imagery of a tuber's many roots poking out.

I always like the theory of Giovanni being Ash's dad. Besides catching Pikachu it explains why Jessie and James are always following him. It also makes things more interesting his father is a Villain and he's a good guy.

I always thought Ash was like a Anakin Skywalker situation. ash was born from the “Pokémon Force” so to say. The foretold Chosen one.
An interesting theory i heard is that out of those we've met Giovanni is the most likely candidate. Film Theory covered this. Still think we haven't met him
We may still see the missing Kalos stuff in a future X and Y remake.
I like the answer on who Ashes dad is. Pokémon fans say things like “it’s Red” or “Its Oak” or “it’s Giovanni” or “it’s Bruno” but I like this answer better. I know we all hate the prequels but it reminds me of a quote from someone who worked on The Last Jedi when talking about Rey’s parentage (and yes I know this is now hypocritical). Something along the lines of “the best answer for fans was always to say it’s Luke or Han and Leia, but the best answer for the story was to say they were nobody’s. It shows who your parents are doesn’t affect who you are, and that anyone can be special and do things in life”
I think a confirmation would be nice tho. It might be sad, yes, but I really think they should. They can make it dark. Have him meet his dad, and he’s super exited, but his dad doesn’t give a crap and leaves him again. Pokémon has gone dark before. Brock’s dad even left him

Lots of pokemon are separate pieces but still counted as 1 pokemon. Falinks, Probopass has those nose with an eye things on the side that are even said in its pokedex to run away sometimes. Still very fun and possibly accurate designs and idea about the pokemon.

Ok, ngl, if he abandoned Ash and his mom, he would easily have abandoned any Pokémon who didn’t win like how Paul abandoned Chimchar (or the other guy abandoned Charmander). Then that’s why he isn’t on any list cause he abandons Pokémon and the Pokémon he does have won’t like him or at least fears abandonment.
So without the solid trust of a trainer to the Pokémon no trainer can be good enough

Here's the thing... The Lumiose Ghost girl isn't where the ghosts started popping up in Pokemon... they have been showing up since Gen 4. The ghosts in the Old Mansion in Eterna Forest, there's the bridge ghost in Unova, both of those predate the Lumiose Ghost.

I'm glad you didn't go for the overused and frankly absurd answer that Giovanni is Ash's father, and instead opted to go for the answer you did.
I don’t think dugtrio is just one three headed creature. I think it’s literally just 3 large diglets bundled up together. The way their heads bob up and down independently of one another in their 3D model just doesn’t work with the concept you showed, unless dugtrio’s spine(s) were somehow springy or something. It wouldn’t be the only instance of more than one creature being the makeup of one pokemon (exeggcute, kangaskhan)
My Idea of Diglett body was just three claw feet that close to make a drill. Dugtrio body same idea but the third claw contact to the other heads

There was a ghost hurl in Gen 4 and Gen 5 before Kalos, why does Hoops always say the ghost girl started with Gen 6?
Cause the gen 6 ghost girl made such a big impact on him that he completely forgot about the previous 2/3 ghost girl
*the 3 is for the ghost of giltch city in pokemon crystal

Yeah the region cemetery and ghost girls are much older than gen 6
in an issue of Game Informer showed an images of Pokémon anatomy and they show that Diglett's bogy is just a normal Mole's under their heads.
These answers sounds really do seem reasonable

In Master Journeys, Ash talks about his dad, something his dad told him
I think mega evolution will be included in dlc for scarlet and violet because Italy is near where kalos is based on. They could include a remake of Gen 6 and add new mega evolution forms.

Ash's dad: i like the explanation offered in this video
Ghost girl: i think either she was meant to be a part of pokemon Z or was some kind of easter egg
Diglett and dugtrio: i like the feet thing, because i always imagined them as moles rather than worms. The official wiki states them as the mole pokemon as well
Mega evolutions: i don't think they will come back unless they make and x and y remake, and that's not gonna happen soon
I'm of the opinion that the reason why we never got a Pokémon Z was that Nintendo/Game Freak wanted a follow-up pair, like B/W 2 and eventually US/UM, but couldn't make a fusion gimmick work with the Kalos mascot trio.
My opinion for the cancelation of Z was that Gamefreak saw how so many people were (very unfairly) dunking on Gen 5 and were like "why should we ever put that kind of effort in when people are just going to complain".

The reason why was confirmed to be timing with the choice to release a new generation instead for the series 20th anniversary I thought. I miss having 4 Year Generations (Hoenn & Sinnoh), although failures with Gen 5 are probably why they stopped. The Best Wishes Anime was a trainwreck & the games weren't popular enough like you said. X&Y probably released sooner than they were supposed to & I remember a lot of people complaining about them as well. Box Legends don't need to fuse, although Mega Evos for Yveltal & Xerneas would have been awesome to get.
A lot of the complaints for Black & White as well as the Best Wishes Anime were fair. The Only New Species prior to National Dex was a terrible idea that contributed to the decline of new species just because of the massive number introduced. Ash & his Pikachu were weakened drastically losing battles they should have won. Everything the anime series was building up to ended up scrapped when the Earthquake happened & then there were all the weird & questionable choices the series made. 6 on 3 Battle against Roxie in Ash's favor for his 8th Badge, the refusal to have proper gym battles against either Marlon or Iris/Drayden, the refusal to evolve Axew despite the popularity of Haxorus, the way the tournaments & league were handled.
At least the Pokemon Anime learned from the mistakes made by Best Wishes with much better writing in Kalos, although Unova just had too many problems & the games hardly even utilized some of the ideas that they had such as Triple & Rotation Battles. It's regrettable that Pokemon as a series ran into problems like that. Also, it is notable that Gen 5 lacked a Stadium Style Game on Wii for the 1st Time in addition to not continuing the Ranger Series & failing with its Mystery Dungeon. Lastly, I hope that Unova Remakes greatly improve upon the originals when they happen & aren't like the Sinnoh Remakes.

Diglett is extra dimensional. There is no underground section. It appears out of portals. Infact my mini theory is that Diglett/Dugtrio is part of an ultra beast that is so vastly enormous that only minuscule sections can be seen at once, this is how the creature feeds. It pokes one of its countless small heads through the portals to eat minerals from the ground. If you capture it. You actually only capture the portal. When it evolves, it's actually that the main head is able to make a larger portal hole. When they breed, it actually only forms another portal in the egg. I just like the idea that even though each head is kind of autonomous as a being, it's part of some titanic eldritch extra dimensional horror creature.
QUESTION:
WHAT DO PEOPLE IN THE POKEMON WORLD EAT AND HOW DO THEY KNOW REGULAR ANIMALS EXIST ( i.e pikachu, the electric *mouse* pokemon) WHEN REGULAR ANIMALS DON"T EXIST IN THEIR WORLD?!
I think mega evolution might come back in a legends game like a game that takes place during the time king AZ Fired his weapon.
Maybe ash's father never being relevant in his life is why I relate so hard to him. I never really thought of it like that but I've really taken that to heart.
i actually like the diglett bodies simple but kept hidden maybe only ever seen if under the effect of something cuz its still off putting compared to the regular mound. plus i wonder what wigglets body looks like too
I object to Dugtrio. a singular pokemon can indeed be multiple individuals, even in generation 1.

I assume diglett is a sentient pile of dirt. As in it has no legs or lower body. Like that scene from spiderman 2 with the sandman rising up from the sand, diglett just forms up out of the dirt.
I 100% believe that Ash’s dad has never made an appearance (fan theories that he is an existing character) nor will we ever see him.
Ash, as a character, is meant to be a blank character that any child can put themselves onto. That would change if he had a dad, as his dad may contradict the personality of the viewer’s father. Delilah is only around because he needs someone to live with and raise him, and so they gave Ash very generic mother we rarely ever see. That’s what I think, anyway
about mega evolution, it does make an appearance in the post game of ultra sun and moon, idk about the originals tho

I always thought Diglet just looked like a potato or bean. If it does have feet (Idk if I'd use a line from Mystery Dungeon to justify it since A. the diglet could have been nessing with them or B. Its not exactly canon to the mainline pokemon universes) then I'd have imagined the feet to be little oddish like feet...so still just a little potato or bean but with oddish feet.

Damn, i did not expect that to hit so hard. I would hate to have some future episode with Ash's dad being some dead-beat asking for money. But considering the anime tends to be upbeat, it's more likely his dad will show up as someone who finally succeeded when he saw his son making to the Indigo League
The anime is already shown his father in the recent movie, he was a good guy who had to randomly mysteriously go off on an adventure. I believe they didn't have him looking for his father so it wouldn't be like Hunter x Hunter.

My theory about Ash's dad:
Mr. Ketchum was a college/mentor of Bill, the Pokemon researcher in Kanto, and together they developed a teleportation machine. After many months of hard work, Ash's dad would proceed to test the machine on himself, ultimately leading to an accident which left him transformed into a Mr. Mime. Unable to reverse the effects, Bill felt great shame and remorse for what had happened and left Mr. Mime in the care of Ash's mom. Bill would vow to try and prefect the teleportation machine and find a way to reverse the condition of Mr. Ketchum. In the end, Bill is unable to make any progress on the device, leaving him with intense guilt which pushes him to take up residence in a light house, away from human civilization. Bill's time in solitude had a hugely negative impact on his mental health and it is at this point where Ash and the gang meet up with him in the show.
People might call it delusional or something but I I really wanna live in the Pokémon world. It's not just fantasy or escapism or anything. I really wanna have Pokémon instead of actual animals. Crazy huh!
Who doest, its probably the most fun and safe Fantasy World like there, and you can get to have fun no matter how you were born into the Pokemon World, Unlike some other were if you is born as a peasant life just sucks lol

Fantasy creatures have always inspired me and Pokémon is like the ultimate dream fantasy world where one really finds the 'ikigai' at least for me.

I know it goes against their normal generation release and re-release patterns but it'd be nice of Nintendo if they made Pokémon Z on the Switch and sooner than later; it'd solve unanswered questions and brings back mega evolution, maybe like a 10 year anniversary thing
Maybe we’ll finally find out the answers to some of these questions in Scarlet and Violet.

I have two answers to the message in the train in Kalos (wait for help or something)
1. After Team Flare collapsed some members wanted to escape prison or death and escaped to Paldea. (That one team star boss really looks like a ex team flare grunt)
2. It was Giovanni who escaped to that Ice Town

Knowing now that Ash will eventually become the single greatest Pokemon trainer in the entire world give that whole moment about his father SO MUCH more weight. He wasn't going to be a failure like his dad and grandfather before him, he WILL become the very best, like no one ever was. Beyond reality. The man he thought his dad was.
In an interview during the release of sm gamefreak was asked if Megas could ever return and they said yes if the plot makes sense for it
during the release of Sun & Moon? well, that’s the last time Mega Evolution become relevant to the plot
we never see its full potential again afterwards
