I don't think there was really a Pokem=ball for items. You can store impossible amounts of items within your fanny pack in Legands: Arceus. Sure there's Pokeballs in that game too, but they were recently invented at that time so it is less likely that Item Pokeballs would've been a thing back then.

While the Unown being the building blocks of reality is some sort of a thing them evolving into actual Pokemon under certain conditions is highly speculative, however the black blobs do have a naturally occurring evolution and it's the black sphere with teeth. It's depicted in Shelder when it evolves into Cloyster where the black blob turns into a sphere, develops teeth and hardens to mirror a pearl. We now also know that at one point a baby Tangela was one of these amorphous one eyed spheres with morphed legs and a Tangela evolution or split evolution was going to be a sphere with teeth. There is something going on in Pokemon with the blobs but judging from them evolving sinister smiles it cant be good.

There's also the fact that they are also coming from a land where there are plenty of legendary Pokemon coming out of wormholes, so there's other reasons that they could be there outside of flying north for the summer.
Honestly, I'm surprised he used Canadian goose as the example for "the fact that its a regional varient doesn't mean that it isn't necessarily from there" since we got a regional variant that is apparently the original: Zigzagoon.

@@ShayTheValiant Kind of make this even more plausible. Professor Laventon noticed this in the past, where Pokéball were first invented. It would make sense with all the canonical Pokémon researches that someone, somewhere found a way to artificially replicate a Pokémon's natural ability to shrink and apply this to items with modern Pokéballs as technology was advancing fast and it became more and more difficult to transport everything efficiently.
Personally I don't really like the idea as this new "type" of Pokéball would just be the Capsule Corp's capsules from Dragon Ball (although those can canonically transport fully functional houses) but with how advanced their researches became it would make sense that this exist in the Pokémon universe.

I don’t know about it being true; since Pokémon shrink to fit a bit, a ball doesn’t shrink the Pokémon to make it fit the ball (canon from PLA).
I think item ball from the very early gens was just an easy way to reference an item on the overworld. If they’d have said ‘see that potion over there?’ you’d have been like ‘uh, no. I see a ball.’

There’s the fact that the Japanese names of the birds have no Spanish motif to them, and the dex entry can’t really be used as evidence since it’s from crystal and is talking about the Kantonian form. The dex entry does mean that Kantonian Moltres would also be found in a region based on the Philippine Islands or Australia though, so that’s neat.

I REALLY really don’t like the idea that the Galarian birds were the “originals”. I’ve said this before on your channel I’m sure, but I’m pretty certain that it was directly called out either in the game or somewhere canonical that they are NOT related to the original birds; they were just named after them due to the people seeing a resemblance. I don’t think that there’s any reason to suggest that all regional forms must have an “original” version - its more likely convergent (or divergent, I forget which one is which) evolution, which is the real-world name for when two species that seem very similar evolve totally separate from one another but at the same time (roughly). I’m sure it’s fun to try and look and find out which one was “first” but that’s not always how evolution works.

Should be fun to see what they came up with!

  • @tsunertoo9149
    @tsunertoo9149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

So I’m pretty sure legends arceus expressly says that the Pokémon itself is what’s shrinking. Poke balls are just kind of a trigger for their inclination to shrink. While I understand it’s pretty nonsensical the ball itself has almost nothing to do with shrinking the Pokémon and everything to do with keeping the Pokémon INSIDE after it shrunk.
The first theory doesn’t make a bunch of sense. Because that means the Pokémon can also choose its evolutions freely and also you forget that the evolution of shellder specifically looks like ghastly. Also that the “blob” has only one eye in wobuffets baby evolution. I feel like that’s a VERY broad stretch to say the least.
The Galatians bird part had me scratching my head and I say that as someone reads science papers for fun. While you aren’t all together wrong galatian Linoone and zigzagoom also exist and I’m absolutely certain they are not migratory and they also are said to be the originals of their kind. So I can’t say I put too much weight on the idea. Not to mention there is a giant tree SPECIFICALLY for them in galar and they don’t exactly seem like the kind of birds to mate which is normally why that sort of thing would exist which leads me to believe they spend a lot of time there for very different reasons that makes me feel it’s unlikely they spend a whole bunch of time in many other places. (Not to mention america is huge which is probably why the Canadian goose spends so much time there but the Iberian peninsula… isn’t, really.)

I can back up the “secret Pokéball” theory with some very critical evidence: PCs in the earlier Pokémon games. You could store items in them. The PCs could take the digitized data of a Pokémon and store it until later… but you can also store items in them in certain games. And you could put an infinite amount of items in there, therefore they aren’t being kept in a little stash hiding under the PC. They are being digitized too, like Pokémon.

A lot of interesting theories, but that black blob Pokémon one got me thinking on a few things.
    1) Another Pokémon that fits into this category might be Mimiku, given that we never see its real form besides shadowy dark limbs, and it is trying to imitate a(n arguably) more loved Pokémon. Another possibility is a symbiotic relationship with whatever became Girafarig given it's two headed nature, which leads to...
    2) If Shelder and Cloyster are it, then it fusing with Slowpoke is another example of a symbiotic fusion.
    3) Also, it adapts to the world around it to hide and can become various types... actually makes me again think of the Mewtwo Experiments, given the theory that Ditto were born from that, though maybe instead of being like... experiments that were just released/escaped, they are decedents that are still mostly related to Mew, given they are said to be the first Pokémon. It makes sense on the idea of them having a lesser/more permanent/specialized version of Transform.
Dumb thoughts yes, but its what I thought of.

Can Attest to Buyee being pretty nice! I managed to win a bid for the limited edition Pokémon Black Japanese Nintendo DS with Japanese carts of Platinum, Heartgold and Black versions, altogether for less than $110! All still had save files with Pokémon I could salvage to complete future dexes, including long gone distribution events. Black even had some Pokémon from the Dream World mechanic still in the Entralink! I implore any number of people to give a shot at Buyee, if only because the Japanese Pokémon carts would allow the player to Masuda Method in any game Gen 4 onward by getting Pokémon of a different language!

It personally stopped being convincing the moment it was stated that the Galarian variants are the original when it's not exactly stated as such in the dex when the dex could also be using the Kantonian variants as the original forms as it makes more literal sense due to typing while the Galarian variants could be completely different Pokemon only named that due to similarities in appearance and having those Kantonian forms already in the minds of those who named the Galarian ones.

So about that blob: it has eyes and is completely black, and in the 1997 Gold demo there was a Pokémon called Gemini, which were kinda two ghosts or so, completely black and looked like floating orbs, they could maybe be that Pokémon. And Girafarig has also that blob with a big grin as his tail.
I'd really like it if Gemini would have become an official Pokémon, so we could evolve it with evolution stones to Tangela, Shellder and so on, or if it would have been like Castform, so it adapts the type and becomes the respective Pokémon depending on the area around it.

    I have similar theories:
▪︎Theory 1: This is like the 1st one in this video, but it involves Mimikyu. I believe Mimikyu & Shedinja are the same Pokémon: both are gjost types hiding under a shell, & if someone accidentally sees their true form, their soul deteriorates.
▪︎ Theory 2: Rockruff is related to Eevee, since it has multiple forms that are affected by the time of day. Zorua & Fennekin are related to Rockruff, because they all have the same cries, & they have an evolution where they become bipedal.

  • @kingpie7820

The reason pokemon fit into pokeballs is bc pokemon have the ability to change sizes. Like they said in PLA and you can see in SV. The items would have to also have the ability to shrink if they were in balls bc the ball is not what gives the ability to shrink. They are just the catalyst for the shrinking that the mon can already do. Don't know if items would have the size change deposition to them. However if the companies that make the items (and balls) they could make the items with them he ability to shrink I guess. Doesn't explain the bike, 3 fishing rods and any other large item bc they aren't all made by the company who makes the pokeballs. Unless there was some sort of standard technology forced into every consumer item to allow for size change

    Some fun food for thought.
    1. Gen 1-4 seemed some what interconnected and it's own story. Gen 5 was like a reboot of the series that flopped. Gen 6 was them trying to go back to the roots to please the fans while adding a something to be different. Gen 7 added onto that gimmick and brought back old characters and dimensional stuff and what not. Gen 8 seemed to distance itself as much as possible. Crafting its own story with very minor loose ends to other games outside of Sh/SW and it's DLC. Maybe GameFreak is trying to craft another couple of generations with inter connected story lines. Maybe with loose ends into the old one. UsUm has connections to older games than minor references where Sw/Sh doesn't. And Sw/Sh having dynamax being a sort of energy in some way could relate to whatever is in gen 9. If it's true Scarlet and Violet are about time then the power of dynamax energy could fit. And because of legends Arceus, we know there's been those time bubbles, so something in Scarlet and Violet may have happened causing something happening throughout time. (It's late when I'm typing this xD)
    2. I think Game Freak hasn't released a true game yet. I think SW/Sh and La have been experiments. Let's go could be too. Sw/Sh could've ended up the way it did because it may have first started being made for the 3DS and not switch. They also we're adding the wild area which was supposed to be the big thing right? Textures weren't that great and the online functions seemed incomplete. The dlc seemed to fix what the main game was lacking in the wild area but not fully. Go to Legends Arceus (which was never said to be open world) it seems like they improved on the whole Pokemon being everywhere in a big open area. This time done better. The graphics still lacking but better. I also believe, if game freak lied about making new Pokemon models instead of porting, they were working on models for Scarlet and Violet. I'll have to rewatch trailers and stuff but I believe they are supposed to be open world and they have poke centers as kiosk things. Like they've had this goal in mind and been experimenting with it since Sw/Sh.

I heard a similar theory about Wynaut and Wobbuffet, that they are actually the evolved forms of Unown. The part of the theory that gets me is their typing, both Wynaut and Wobbuffet are Psychic types, but since they're based on punching bags, wouldn't the Normal type work better? I mean, I'm pretty sure a Fighting type would have little trouble beating up a punching bag. However, if they were Psychic types because they're pre-evolved form was, aka Unown, it would make more sense. Also, Unown appears right before Wubboffet in the national Dex.

I liked my old theory about how Pokémon time worked in the anime. Basically, it was that the Pokémon series experiences the four seasons three times a year (like in the Unova games) and while they do have regular years, an actual aging year for humans only occurs on a leap year. It was weird and honestly a bit complicated, but it made more sense to me than believing that the Pokémon anime was just Ash in Neverland, especially with all the mentions that a whole year has passed in some of the early Pokémon media. (when they returned to Viridian City the first time for Ash’s eighth badge and the Pokémon Party in the Pichu Brothers short)
Sadly, this theory is officially not true, but at least now we know why nothing changes in the games unless outside influence is introduced.

I have a theory that all the dark blob pokemon (shelder, tangla, snorut, etc), voltorb, and wobbufett are all either dead pokemon or people. When something dies, it turns into a gastly. Some gastly go and haunt the places they are buried (lavender town tower), but some go and posses/inhabit certain objects. If said gastly was a human, it will haunt its burial place. If that place is destroyed/they were never given a proper funeral, they turn into Yamask, holding onto the memory of their face in a mask as the last thing remaining of their past selves once they are forgotten. If the Gastly was a pokemon, it will go and find something that reminds them of where they used to live (A shell in the sea, or a tangle of vines). If they had a trainer, they posses a pokeball turning into voltorb. Snorunt is made if something dies of cold or on a snowy mountain.
