Just a tip which can help: don't just sand bag the outside of the doors, do the inside too, mainly the roller doors. This will act as a second wall to stop what makes it through the first wall of sand bags. Good to see you and the crew making the best of a crappy situation.

Dude I've been following LZ since he was a young teenager. He was an amazing BMX rider. Will always keep up with the videos man. Glad to see that the compound wasn't damaged as bad as it could have been I could have been a lot worse man I'm so glad it wasn't.
The trick for low RPM power is the displacement. the 320 in lycoming o-320 is the cubic inch displacement of the 4 cylinder aircraft engine. Alot of v8s dont even have 320 displacement, some do. I wouldnt knock these little airplane engines. they got some good kick that you couldn't get from car engines. its like a whole new world out there :)
If you have ever road a jet ski, kind of like that. No power, No steering, the skinnier the water (low water depth) the more slide (dependant on hull style).
There are a LOT of air boat PSRU (prop speed reduction units) that could allow for a 2JZ powered air boat. There are chain drive and gear driven units that all have there strong points, but do the job well.
Glad you all made out as good as you did mad props for shipping saw Jimmy O got his E46 parts while you all were flooded out so keeping multiple channels running lol!!
I had an internship in Louisiana and we had to ride air boats to get to some of the spots we had to work on. The one guy had a Chevy crate engine in his and that thing ripped. Also sounded sweet
The Lycoming O-320-BXX (8.5 to 1 compression) series only makes 160 hp, but since it tops out at 2600 RPM, it makes 323 foot-pounds. The tip speed of the prop dictates the max RPM since the tips cannot exceed the speed of sound without causing an imbalance due to aerodynamics changing. There are engines that spin faster, but they have gearboxes to change the speed down to what the prop can manage. Automotive engines do not do well behind a prop because they aren't designed for the stresses of running at max RPM constantly.
I truly hope you guys get past this relatively unscathed. I know floods suck, I have been here most of my life. I am in Apollo Beach. Just a fence and trash clean up for me.

correction on some cesnas have a belt drive reduction and the props attached to the fuselage not the engine crank and the 6cylinder boxers mount underneith so you just need a custom pulley and frame mount propeller hub small pulley on the engine big one on the prop bammmm gear reduction system
And the for the future of the compound are you going the future proof and build it up and get some proper pumps so the flooding doesn't get that bad again.

I’m sure you could have ballistic or ox box cut you a gear box to fit a 2j. There are a few coyote powered airboats out there which is obviously a bit different than the standard LS or small block Chevy. They make 3:1 gear sets for pretty much any brand of gear box as well. That should be plenty of rpm for the 2j.

Rotax engines use a gearbox for reduction to the prop, so they can run the engine closer to 5000 RPM. Might be worth checking out.
