    Hey Alex, just wondering if you have any ideas as of yet to help deal with nerves before a fight? And also, what's the name of your ankle brace? I need 2 if they are good :) I'm sick of taping mine before every session. Thanks xx

    • @AlexWongTKD
      @AlexWongTKD  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a video coming out Sunday on dealing with nerves :) and mine are BraceUp brand from Amazon

    • @lorend8764
      @lorend8764 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Wong, oh awesome, and how affective are they? Cause I need heavy duty as my ankles roll very easy. I hope they're not too expensive.
      And YES!! I can't wait to see the video, I hope it helps me. Xxxx You're the best!!

    Ugh Im so anxious to get started in Taekwondo. This is getting posted about 1 month prior from when I start taking classes. I'm not flexible at all, but the second I saw the art, I instantly fell in love with it. I know there are people out there that say "Taekwondo would get destroyed by any "serious" art," or "TKD is a show not a fighting style." So I'm going to cross train with either BJJ, Muay Thai, or Hapkido. I want to get dedicated to it, but I'm nervous. Do you have any tips to give after you've grown up with Taekwondo? Kill me ugh lol

      Paul Krupa Thankfully a school near me teaches both Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido so there's a good thing there.

    • @wbigw2880

      Paul Krupa start training your flexibility now and really apply yourself

    • @AlexWongTKD
      @AlexWongTKD  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keep and open mind and be patient with yourself when learning. Enjoy it! Training is very rewarding physically and mentally. But just keep in mind it does take time to really get the hang of things, so be patient and keep at it! You may feel anxious at first because it is new but over time you will get more comfortable :)

      Do not cross train is my best advice

      You have to keep in mind that muay Thai and bjj is different from taekwondo. Im not sure about hapkido because I've never done it . I think it would be good to have a ground martial arts like bjj just in case your fight ever does go to the ground or you are assaulted. But muay Thai is a stand up and its very different from taekwondo. Personally I think you should do one ground martial art and one stand up and become proficent in it before you do another art, unless of course it has the same properties as one of the martial arts you are doing. Hope I explained that well. Whatever martial art you do, any of them makes you feel empowered and strong so I hope you do martial arts and have a blast doing it!

    • @jamesmiles5662
      @jamesmiles5662 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Briggs then you would lose a lot off fights then ???,be taken down in seconds,

    • @jeremybriggs6951
      @jeremybriggs6951 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Miles lol, well for the most part I would use my legs as a taunt but I would like use my kick for the last as a three hit combo

    • @jamesmiles5662
      @jamesmiles5662 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Briggs taekwondo is a point fighting martial art like lot karate is,it’s great for footwork and kicks,but don’t get punched in the face no sweeps no takedowns no elbows no knees no clinch,so absolutely useless for real fighting,Mma guy smash them in under minute,

    • @jeremybriggs6951
      @jeremybriggs6951 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Miles wow...well I'll keep that in mind man, thanks for that info

    • @loveandheart08
      @loveandheart08 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if you are doing taekwondo you should do a ground martial art, like I explained in another comment. It's good to be proficent on stand up and ground because if someone takes you down at least you can defend. Great ground martial arts are bjj and wrestling. I do both but since wrestling can only do pins and takedowns I would recommend doing bjj since it has submissions.
