I got to hear the new Eris speakers in a store in a head to head comparison with the first generation. The new ones sounded a lot more clear and defined. I was really happy with the sound and the fact that they are still $100 is freaking amazing.
Cheaper than BEHRINGER!
Great video man in love with your reviews
Thank you!!!
Exactly the video I’ve been looking for on the new ones! Just ordered the gen 2.
Glad I could help!
@@EdwardSmithMusicgen 2 is better or worse?
@@pa1kumarbhukya just get the Edifier mr4 for about the same price, better than PreSonus!!!
Gen 2 is cleaner. Gen 1 is muddier and less clear.@@pa1kumarbhukya
@@pa1kumarbhukyaeverybody says worse
To me based on this video there was a significant difference in sound between the old and the new. I'm not a sound engineer and don't mix my own music, and don't really need reference quality speakers however I do appreciate clarity and trueness of sound reproduction. Don't know what they sound like in your studio but in this video new ones sounded like a wider range, tuned to deliver more bass and still clear treble but at the sacrifice of richness in the mids. The old ones seem like they have a flatter response and probably more accurate except in the low end where they just don't deliver enough. I think they are targetting more of the multimedia speaker segment of consumers with this new tuning.
@@mclovinfuddpucker I just listened to his soundtest again (on a new set of Edifier MR4s that have a very nice warm mid soundstage) and the difference between the old and new in the clip is even more significant. I'm not suggesting there is a problem in the mids with the news ones, just that going off the sound test, if the setup is exactly the same then they have much different sound profiles. But if it's as he claims that the sound is almost identical maybe just the setup changed somehow (almost sounds like a totally different EQ profile). I would have loved to hear the Eris in person but never got the chance, black friday deals on the edifiers were to good to pass up.
I've had the old 3.5 for about 5 yrs now. You know what they say if it ain't broke don't fix it. I love them still
either you never used them or its a lie, those are complete garbage they stop working with barely any use, zero reliability.
the old 3.5 really helped me improve
Very nice!🔊🔊
The newer ones does sound less muffled than the old ones. I am listening to it on headphones
Yep. I can even hear the difference on my TV. The new ones sound better.
How abt just by turning up the highs on the 1st gen?
would i need an audio interface to connect it with my pc or I'd be able to wired it direct?
@@jex9996 You can connect it directly using bluetooth or the RCA cable to your PC, but it's better to use an audio interface for the balanced connection to reduce the interference noise
@@MorioWada gotcha thanks
Ty, will prolly get one to start mixing home.
I've had these for about 2 years and i love them!! 😮😮😮
Still working or broke down? Any power issues?
@@jaylow759Ive used it for nearly the same time as him. So far, it is working flawlessly!!!Its a Must Get
gen2 sounds brighter and slightly more clear to me. Definitely an upgrade
I just upgraded from britz br-a1000 plus to presonus 3.5... it's a huge leap forward to me
Clueless
These speakers are okay but I need more reviews from this channel to consider a purchasee!! Keep making them videoss!! 🔥🔥
More to come!
I had these tiny ass speakers for a year and my upstairs neighbors can hear me.
I'm looking at upgrading my 3.5" to either the 5 or 5XT, are the 5XTs worth going to?
Just got my gen 2s in the mail, haven’t hooked them up yet but hoping they are at least similar to, if not slightly better than my old AV40s that died. Could 100% hear a difference between gen 1 and 2 watching on iphone with Sennheiser HD598
Plz review the new Eris studio 5 and compare it with krk rokit 5 g4
just ordered the gen 2 - as I need them for mastering home recordings
hey thx bro , better than edifier MR4 ?
Bought this ones yesterday, it's perfect
Thank you for the video! It helped me to decide. But that candle you have there makes me anxious... Too close to the screen... 😅
I heard a difference in the upper midrange. Gen 2 definitely had a bit more clarity...sounded more crisp in the midrange.
I hear a clear difference, the second generation is brighter. And I think this design update is also just what the product needed to be complete.
the mid range sounds pretty good compared to the old one
There is totally a difference between the two. The new version on midrange is totally a game changer! The Old gen is muffled on lowend.
I'm not agre on this one, int the mysic itself that change. For an exampel listen on the snaredrumm in the beginning, the volyme is lite bit higer and there gott an reverb in the snare drum. You here that in the begining loude and clere and it spos exaktly on the 2nd.
Nice speaker 😊
Do you think they would be okay for home studio very beginner bass guitar recording?
I bought the M-AUDIO BX3 multimedia reference monitors for $100 on amazon and all I can tell you is that it is worth it! They sound beautiful when tuned properly. They're built well and have a nice look to them. Of course they have silk dome tweeters and they also have a bass knob and a tweeter knob on the back.
The audio is coming through the microphone of a cell phone or of a handheld camera. The only way to judge sound quality it is to be there in the room with the speakers. However, the unboxing part is good.
I got the old presonus eris 3.5 for my pc and for my 2 channel stereo home stereo setup, I have the yamaha hs50m studio monitors.
Thx. I got it😎
I wanted to ask have you purchased plugins from plugin boutique? Is it safe?
@Edward Smith Hey dude I happened to stumble on your channel while looking for a Mic , but I had a separate question. Where can I find your music cause I do t see any on your channel and you have a very Unique voice and delivery, its like original but with a hint of Ed Sheeran on there. Super 🔥
I'm thinking to get myself one but I'm confused if I'd need to buy an audio interface as well coz i've heard it's required to connect any monitors with pc!
I got mine at 80$ looking for some krk 6 tho i like having a mix loud without blasting all the monitors out
yep definitely you can mix with that speakers. it sound more focus on the 1.6k to 1.8k midrange and harshness on the top end which is good..
That music shanges, for an exapel it is an reverb on the snaredrum in the first part.
Both speakers sound good
Dope content as usual
I can hear a slight difference in the sound between the two. For the price any of the two are worth it looking for budget Speakers. Loads around but they seem decent.
The newer ones are more clear in the mid range and low end. It is true, and less muffled. But thats just a update. They can both still sound good, i guess its simply a design change in terms of the functionality of it
I got the 3.5 second generation, has the power led strip and standby function on the back however the tweeter is not blue, maybe they changed it back to black or the non bt version doesn't have blue tweeters, im not sure. Just a fyi the 2nd gen doesnt come with software anymore :( i registered with presonus and nothing for dl
I wanted minimalist, one that sits below my monitor and can use it with TV when requires. So I am using bose sound bar 600. Works perfectly for me. On work desk and on TV stand sound bar sits perfectly without taking any additional space. Also it works with bluetooth, support alexa, have spacious sound, can tune audio with Bose music app.
Good video, quick to the point. Guess when you have a successful product there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Sound quality has marginal differences. Guess i need to pick up a set to test for myself. Thanks
How many decibels can they output safely? (for the speakers)
You need to check out the Kali in-8 v2.
I got my e4.5s for $119 on a black Friday sale. They are great budget speakers with great detail. I do plan on getting a pair of IK Multimedia iLoud MTM when the money is right, but these e4.5s are a great budget solution for right now and will serve as an excellent AB option in the future for me. as far as doing MORE with the 2nd gen? No. they are budget studio speakers with a great design. If you want more from presonus buy the E5, don't expect more out of a class of speaker that is what it is. They are GREAT for what they are. Leave it at that.
puedes probar el tascam 180??? Can you try the tascam 180???
Finally new video!!!!
Tell me about it 🙈😂

Gen2 sounds a bit brighter and less boxy. I ordered me a pair of gen twos :)
Hey, man. I just noticed, you sound very similar to Dan Mace. Are you from Cape Town?
It does have noticeable improvement. as other has stated. The update is good enough to release . They are not saying this is a new model and new price. Any improvement is welcome. The faster release even of slight improvements are good enough although I consider it as significant ones.
For sure 2nd gen sound less muffle and bit more low end add
Hello Mister.
Can u tell me where u get that acoustiq rubber feet?
THX
I've left a link in the description of this video.
Can you connect bluetooth headphones to them?
ye but can they cope with sub sonic low end bass from a bass guitar?
I'm loving my Gen 1 3.5" Eris They're on par with my old JBL 305p MK2s I downgraded coz space...
I'm the most amateur of anyone but the new gen sounds wider somehow, more even overall with more clarity. Gen 2 just sounds present vs the first gen sounding muffled
It this good for 12x10 room
Hello you all, I've just installed and connected through the stereo rca cable to the computer. They make randomly a weird noise, it's not constant. Can anyone help me with this it's windows setting issue ? It's a cable issue? I've also noted the dolby application does not recognize these audio monitor so I cannot use it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Do you get any gain independent hiss with these? I've bought mine recently and there is a constant hiss when I turn them on, it's audible up to around 50cm. Is that normal with these? Please help
@@mclovinfuddpucker where's the joke?
I have those, a couple of weeks ago they started making awfull noises even just pluged to the outlet with nothing coonected to the sound input, even if i lower their volume. anyone had the same problem?
@@mclovinfuddpucker have one, for years, not that
My dear friend, I only have $100, so what do you advise me to buy?
Just reviewed both gen one and gen 2 , gen 2 seems clearer as the HF is better but it cant handle anything lower which lead to complete uselessness gen 2 definitely a home speaker cant be used to mix or judge. 4.5 first gen is a gem
A comparison of Eris 3.5 2nd generation and Edifier MR4 would be interesting
I will defs try make a vid on this in 2024
@@EdwardSmithMusic A comparison between the MR4 and Eris 4.5 would also be cool!
3.5 is better than mr4 , but mr4 only 50$
From your demo, I can clearly hear that the new model has a bigger sound stage.
Argh, someone put me out of my Misery! What is the demo music!? Sounds like a great tune.
There are big differences between them. Listen with headphones. For me, the first generation is the winner.
Anyone has experience on how to fix Eris 3.5 BT (old version) white noise / crackling sound even when nothing is playing and no audio cables are connected?
You should check out the edifier mr4 speakers!
Would anyone know how these presonus' perform as a soundbar alternative for watching TV?
muy bueno
Edifier MR4 - 👍.
PreSonus certainly could have taken the opportunity to do one thing with these speakers: ensure that they're actually FLAT.
I bought a pair of these with the intention to use them to more accurately tweak the EQ and overall mix on our show. We've had a TON of audio issues as we got started. Initially these seemed to work well enough, but when I did some digging, their frequency response is anything but flat.
Really not good enough. And the jury's still out as to whether the mid-range on these speakers is going to be flat enough to accurately assess how clear our voice tracks are.
Word of Warning: One day ( after only a couple of years and light-ish use in the early morning and evening ) I started getting crackling , then when I turned them on the next day , they were as dead as a Dodo. These are very similar to cheap PC speakers in their design , having one powered and one passive. I'd like to see a dual powered pair in the budget (ish) price bracket , with easily explained wiring , instead of having to have an audio interface , instead of a simple DAC with headphone amp.
My $140 M Audio AV40s (purchased for that price in 2011) died on me in the last year with loud buzzing. Seems on YT it’s common and probably a capacitor which is replaceable. I plan to eventually deal with it but just got my Eris E3.5 v2 and look forward to trying them, though I certainly don’t expect anything too great and reliability is a concern judging by your comment and many others I have seen. Both being powered separately would be nice sure it would minimize heat and no doubt heat is what caused a likely cap blowout in my AV40s.
I do wonder if the Presonus is even repairable like the AV40s. Guess we’ll see lol
@@Weather_Nerdive also got an av40. Wondering it you can share how the presonus went?
What they did do which is a noticeable downgrade with the 2nd gen, is that annoying blue LED on the front. At least with the first gen a tiny piece of electrical tape over the tiny white LED is an invisible fix for most. But with the second gen?A large horizontal blue LED along middle of the speaker? Good grief.
Thanks for the review!
i listen that on personus g1 bt
I have had a bad experience with Presonus unfortunately! the speakers I got were 4.5 gen two and they have a bad hissing noise Would be completely ok if you were far away but on my desktop NO WAY I contacted support and they said it was normal and I was like nope that's definitely not normal with just power plugged in. I have heard people complaining about similar issues with these. I am returning them for HS4s and will update you!
Gen 2 sounds cleaner with more air.
I just got some they got power and everything I've got them set as the output audio they still won't work
crazy difference, new ones almost reaching the Mackie CR4 Sound quality, not bad.
This guy has to be the king of face making on YT. One question: WHY ????????????
I NEVER knew speakers like these were THAT cheap!
I've had a set of Behringer MS40s, & they cost me ~$250 about 10 years ago.
Tends to over throw the bass too much, & when I play back a recording on something else, in the car etc, the bass is underwhelming!
Other day I discovered a studio
Monitors I never heard of the Sanyun sw206 4 inch funny cuz no reviews vids anywhere also have a hifi mode but what’s the frequency response 20hz-20kh
Might buy a pair test that for
Myself probably not much more than the Eris e3.5 great video
high frequency boost
I can get them for the same price, so that's sounds fair to me✌️
(99€ 2nd Gen ; 99€ 1st Gen)
Definitely a difference
I wished they would offer different colors!!!
I am going to disclose this as personal bias, no hate, but a biased opinion because I love making music for myself and look to grow in time, I will say I do like the video, the research is informative, and comparing the two gens is pretty cool, however ... we the only person who will truly know the result will be yourself
here's the thing, trying to decipher the difference in sound on our side is also kinda hard, and here's why, we are monitoring what we are hearing through either headphones with either a flat or enhanced response in what we are listening to, that can be bass enhance or reduction, treble boost and maybe some other mid range cuts.
I feel having a spectrum that shows the frequency range for both is a great example of showing how it responds and how it helps people decipher the build of the speakers, although I am not convinced because I am not really sure that the spectrum is showing the true capabilities, may just be me but I would have loved an in depth showing of maybe a recording in the room with a mic and a EQ Spectrum in the room to truly get the test to its fullest potential.
other than that, I have been eyeing these for a while but I would like to get more info on them as I like to make these choices based on whether they are truly delivering.
to disclose on what I meant by monitoring audio , I am listening to this video via the Audio Technica ATH - M20x, we could be listening to it either via phone speakers,TV or a system, all different responses, different results, I would like to know what I am paying for as well as how it would make or break a choice in monitoring my mixes.
I will leave off and say I hope to see more content and just know I don't mean any disrespect or anything, just thought I would make a comment and back it up with a bit of maybe ideas to add towards say vlog based content and product review in the future.
I ran a sweep tone through a brand-new "1st generation" pair of 3.5s and got a 150Hz rattle in the amped speaker. Yikes. Talk about a fundamental design flaw.
I decided to swear off Presonus speakers after that.
Test with metal song
where is your mid range speaker?
Gen 2 a little bit brighter but its begining the problem that way because gen 1 actulally so brigt already 2. gen even more brigt? So not neccessary its too much ear penetrate arrow :) 1 gen perfectly enough and sound more intimate…
I have these lol.
Could you just use Bluetooth speakers for music
The Gen2 Versions sound better to me.
The difference is obvious on crappy speaker and/or even my laptop speakers. The gen2 sound much better.
80kz?
Recently bought first gen Presonus Eris 3.5
And came to know that they released gen 2
😂
Watt?
The old E3.5 cost 150$ in India
Im sry u lost ur country to the USA :-(
My understanding is that they improved the bluetooth and added the standby function. Bluetooth is a pain with Gen 1 because it won't connect to BT after the speakers have been on for a while. Every time you want to connect, you have to turn the speakers off and on again, and that's when they will show up for connecting to your device. Whether this has actually been fixed with Gen 2, I don't know.
There’s definitely a sound difference between the two
Gen 2 is better for mid and high freq, especially for vocals, as you shown. Thanks!
