    Let's check out the TeslaTap Mini which allows you to charge any EV not made by Tesla at any Tesla charger (that isn't a super charger.) I recently reviewed Lectron's adapter that does the same thing but will no longer be reccomending anybody buy it due to it's consistent charging failures.

    We have a gen 2 Tesla Mobile Charger connected to our 10-30 dryer plug in the garage. Needed an adapter for our 2024 Ioniq 5. Came across this video after I purchased the Tesla Tap mini 60A, and I can confirm Ioniq Guy’s review. Excellent build quality and works flawlessly.
    Don’t waste your time or money on the cheap Chinese knockoffs. I made the mistake of first ordering the Lectron, thinking I could deal with the hassle of the “Unsuccessful Charge” and then go in and start the car. Well, did not even get that far as the NACS port was deformed and would not fully receive the Tesla plug. Immediately returned the useless piece of plastic.
    Buy American and support this small business that makes an excellent product. You just spent $45K-$55K on your car, $300 for the most important connection is not going to break the bank. You get a product that is built to last and lines the pockets of Americans, not patent-infringing corporations.

    I think the issue is in the combination LECTRON / IONIQ. I’ve this LECTRON adapter working flawlessly with my Polestar 2 for two months now; I use it when parking in downtown garages. I’ve a J1772 EVSE at home.

    Great video! I had heard that the TeslaTap had extra components but it's nice to see that up close.

  • @OmairArif
    @OmairArif ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This definitely seems nicer than the Lectron one, but regarding the patent issue, what exactly was the patent for? If it is just the concept of a Tesla to J1772 adapter, I personally don't think that should be something you can get a patent for. The only thing novel about the TeslaTap is the PCB, which Lectron didn't copy. Everything else about the product is just connecting the corresponding Tesla and J1772 contacts together (which both companies didn't even do the same way).

  • @caseyat88
    @caseyat88 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If I didn't have the Tesla Tap non-mini, with the cable in between the two ends, I'd get this. I did only spend $160, but it is obnoxious to store, tho not impossible. It's never failed me, and I've used it for all 3 of my recent EVs, for emergency charging, and overnight hotel stays. It may not have paid itself off in electricity, but has in the sense of always having a backup plan.
    Only 2 tows from a wrecker in price, that's worth it.

Can you do one more test, is introduce a simulated power outage (power down teh Tesla EVSE) and wait 15 minutes and power it up again, see if the charging will resume. The reason I want to buy one of the Tesla Portable chargers and the TeslaTap mini, with that combo I have a mobil charger with option to 115 volt or 240 volt charge and also plug into a Tesla destination charger all in a nice little pack as the TeslaTap Mini is so small it can fit int he Tesla Mobil charger case.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheIoniqGuy yes believe me I wouldn’t ever question your integrity. I’m just saying he needs to get his price point down. He will not be able to compete even against Lectron. I wanted to buy his but the price point I couldn’t warrant.

    Could you review the Shockflo adapter & compare itbto the Tesla Tap? It retails for $140 but the site below offers a coupon. It seems to be about the same size. It also requires the 30 sec pause after connecting the Tesla plug. th-cam.com/video/ofNCOyBTv7Y/w-d-xo.html

      Besides the $20 coupon code from the above linked review, Amazon currently offers a $35 discount coupon, which can both be used on Amazon when you purchase it!

    Now they just need to make a supercharger adapter since Tesla opened up the stations.
