That’s a big reason why I watch these types of videos and why I prefer a longer video that includes mistakes and failures rather than a shorter more concise video where everything just works out perfectly and ends with a perfect shiny piece. I want to watch their process to get ideas that might come into play in my own projects and see what works and what doesn’t work, and how/why it doesn’t work, to avoid making the same mistakes.

Thank you so so so so so so much for showing All of the crystals you made. Sometimes i watch other artist youtubers and they make it look ike their project came out perfectly the first time. But that's not realistic. You have to make a lot of mistakes and learn from them to make art. It doesn't always work out the first time or even the second or third time, but that doesn't mean I should give up my project. Thank you. 😊

Surely you don't think it's a coincidence that EVERY creator who takes these sponsorships doesn't address the people saying they suck, right? They're definitely aware of the controversy, but NOBODY is saying anything about it because they most certainly aren't allowed to.

You can't just terminate a contract. If he did, he would become open to litigation. That's the whole point of a contract. It protects both parties. It might not be fun, but if he chose to not follow through, he would be breaking the terms and they could sue him and you would probably have to say bye bye to this channel. Don't get Peter in trouble! We gotta keep him around!

Selenite is a variety of gypsum (the stuff they make drywall out of and a big export from Colorado here). Gypsum is a mineral that does love to be hydrated. And like calcite, it exhibits reverse-solubility so tends to drop out of solution at higher temps. We have a shit ton of salts here in Colorado from the days when we were an interior seaway in geologic time, and it even produces seismic events cuz all these evaporites are so easily deformed. Best state for geology 🥰

After several bad guesses on resin myself, I decided measure it exactly by filling my new molds with water first, and then pouring said water into my measuring cup. You have to dry the mold in the oven after, but that trick has saved me lots of time and money.

Use just the right stuff and you'd probably still get some transparency, but also have more control over the colors not feeling so delineated. Especially if looking to more capture the essence of the original idea of watermelon tourmaline, a mica powder shine would be so pretty.

The silicone looked wet against the selenite because its gypsum, which is calcium sulfate. Sulfur containing compounds can inhibit cure on platnium-cure silicone. Stuff like certain kinds of clays can have the same problem too. Its just that in gypsum I guess enough sulfur wasnt free to ruin the casting, like it can be with clays.

Quartz is naturally crystal clear in most cases when it forms, however it becomes progressively more cloudy as it's explosed to light.

1:50 i wouldnt let quarts hit eachother like that in a woodworking shop. quarts was used for starting fires in places that didnt have acses to flint. so it could throw a spark

The effect on the surface of the resin when you added the transparent green dye was interesting - does it mess with the surface tension?

Ooh, another episode of Peter Thinks Bubbles Will Look Good: That's Too Many Bubbles 😌 cool end product, I bet it's also nice to do a project where not sanding actually produces the desired result
