I said on the last video it's just supercharger vs turbo. Supercharger gives you power immediately because it's driven by the motor via a belt, the turbos have to build power because they rely on exaust pressure to force air in, hence why you have turbo lag. So supercharger=power off the line, turbos=power at high rpms like towards the end of the track, hence why the turbo car starts to catch up at the end of the track...
Exactly. On a dig race with similar power (or power to weight ratios), a supercharger will almost always win over a turbo'd engine. Now, on a road course or roll racing, that advantage goes away. You are correct.
Sport mode makes a big difference in performance on the Jeeps in my experience. I don't own a Trackhawk but I do have the Trailhawk offroad version of this same Jeep. On mine sport changes everything from shift points to suspension firmness to engine performance. And I believe on the SRT8 and Trackhawk models putting it into track mode further changes things and also changes the electronic braking control systems as well. That said it is a significantly heavier and larger vehicle than the Audi so I'm surprised the Audi didn't beat it in the drag race. Also American cars and SUV's are typically larger on the interior making them bigger overall which lends to the more blocky appearance you mentioned. They do a lot with aerodynamics though so the difference isn't as much as you'd think by the way it looks. Thanks for doing these reactions they're fun to watch.

This isn’t even the tip of the iceberg either… There are 1000hp and 1200hp Trackhawks that launch and then put the power down really well because of how much it weighs, and just based on the fact that the Trackhawk was made to launch. Try to find a couple of those videos, you will be absolutely astonished at how 5,356 pounds can move that fast, It just doesn’t make sense 😂😂.

Seems like they keep losing the roll races for 2 reasons big blower motors are hot remember the guy couldn’t accept loss and made the mustang hotlap like 8 times! Plus sounds like they treating it like a turbo car and in to low gear so it’s either gonna spin or immediately waste time on a unnecessary shift it’s crank driven lag isn’t an issue only parasitic loss that’s why we like them, fastest cars on the planet are blown American cars! Funny cars go almost 100mph faster than Bugatti in less than 4 seconds
Comfort mode in the trackhawk, not track mode. Also, turbos are more efficient at creating boost, particularly at speed. It's also a bone-stock trackhawk. You'd be hard-pressed to find a stock trackhawk in the US. Most at least have a tune, a lot swap pulleys and that'll easily push it to 850hp or more. E85 tune will do the same. Just those three things and you can push 1000hp, add cams and the sky is the limit. Most manufacturers really detune their vehicles from factory for driveability and getting past the warranty period. In America manufactures build stuff knowing it's gotta be able to be modified for the after market or people won't buy it. They even send off drivetrains to big aftermarket manufacturers to have go fast parts ready for when they release new engines and vehicles. Even our big diesel pick-ups can be tuned and modded to run sub 10's in the quarter mile. Last is the Jeep Grand Cherokee the trackhawk is a performance version of still has to be a capable off-road vehicle, so in stock form you still have a lot of wind resistance and weight. Oh, also gearing. Most American "performance models" are 1/4 mile beasts, not roll racing beasts. Some are built to have "longer legs" but they're generally marketed differently. Just look at how many models or trims of mustangs there are. Some are 1/4 mile beasts and some have ridiculous top end speed... and again the mods and tuning are expected.
Because turbo engines have more power on the top end. Superchargers are good only from start to midrange. Also, it takes a LOT of horsepower to turn the supercharger. I believe the amount on the Track Hawk is over 100 hp. Turbos are considered "free horsepower" because it uses the exhaust gases to turn the turbos.
In the roll race, the trackhawk was in automode on 1st race. I owned one and know that it limits the supercharger boost to 7-8 psi. In sport or track mode, it will hit 11psi of boost. Also it shifts quicker/harder in track mode.

I think where the difference is between a standing and rolling racing goes has a lot to do with gear ratios, torque, and horsepower curves at different RPMs. With Turbo or Supercharged engines, they make more power as they accelerate. Edit: Oh yeah, Transmission Driving Modes can make a HUGE difference. Even my F150 has Standard, Sport, and Towing modes. I usually drove in Sport Mode. Why? Better throttle response, different shifting points, and it just pulls harder. So if the guy driving the Track Hawk was not in Sport Mode in the earlier races, then yeah, he's gonna get smoked. But put it in Sport or Track Mode, it's gonna perform a lot better. That's the beauty of theses modern auto transmissions. They have several different driving modes that change just about everything how the computer operates the teansmission.
The mustang thing is gearing. The race started in a spot in the mustangs band that doesn't respond as fast as the m car. Its why car magazines have all those weird 30 to 100, 40 to 120 etc etc. Its showing you where the gearing is for power

A big part of it is that the Audi is turbo. Turbos perform better on a rolling start because they have no boost on a standing start unless you have transbrake. Turbo car make power on the top end we're supercharger or blower cars make more power on the bottom end. Essentially the supercharger car is going to make all its power in the first 200 to 300 feet depending on gear ratio then level off. We're the turbo car does really make a lot of power through the first 200 feet but makes all it power once up on full boost after 200 feet. So a supercharged car will out 100 foot a turbo car, but the supercharger car can't out mile an hour the turbo car in distance.
Blowers get immediate launch. Where turbo chargers have turbo lag. So presumably from a dead stop the blower should win. From a rolling start the lag is gone by already and turbos are more powerful than the small blowers.
I live in a mid size city...and we have Trackhawks with 900hp driving around it. Turbos are better for top end speed and have better power "kick", and superchargers are more linear and only come on when you hit a certain throttle pressure. Turbos are always on.

THIS time you have them both running automatic transmissions but the Audi has an 8 speed and the Jeep has a 10 speed... The gearing in the transmissions made the difference due to probability of the Jeep being up 2 gears at 50 mph boost range and the Audio only being up one. Hence you see most custom engine developer use Compound Boost using Dual Supercharger one pushing air to another.
The struggle comes down to the difference between a super charger and a turbo make power. A blower, aka supercharger, gets heat soaked easy and will loose power. They also make better power down low in the RPM range. Turbos stand up to heat a lot better. Also, they make more boost the faster the engine turns. So, a blower car can leave a turbo car behind at the line, then the turbo catch him before the finish line. It happens a lot. Dodge brakes suck, so it doesn’t surprise me at all on the stopping part. It's got a hellcat engine and spec'd for road use, not keeping. Don't know if the audi is any good off road though. It really comes down to power/ weight on this one.
With the roll race it's ALL about the gear you start in. The first race he was in the wrong gear and the car downshifted into a lower gear. The second race he was already in the right gear so it didn't need to downshift first. You'll lose EVER time if you need to downshift first in a roll race.
Both of the American vehicles that you’ve reacted too have super chargers and the German vehicles are using turbos. Any rolling race the turbos are going to spool up quicker, superchargers are going to be a lot more efficient off the line. That’s why the German vehicle do better while doing a rolling race and American vehicles are doing better off the line from a complete stop.
I simply do not understand your love for German cars. In the US they all become money pits as they age, and parts and service for them are over the top. BMWs are an especially a bad investment. They lose resale value at an alarming rate.
You male a interesting point about the aerodynamics of the Track Hawk, but yet if you notice lately with 2024 and 2025 models of a lot of vehicles, they're actually getting very boxy looking. You look at all the trucks, SUVs and even some minivans, and they are quite boxy, with big Squarish front ends. However I'm betting they perform quite well in the windtunnel despite their looks.
The Track wasn’t even in Sport mode😂, and on top of that, it was in automatic. Btw, people heavily modify Trackhawks… you never find a 700 hp Track anymore. They’re Usually 1000+ these days.
It is because of the gear ratio vs weight You will see how similar the trucks are. The higher the gear ratio, the more advantage higher torque has, as it is multiplied by the gear ratio. The final axle ratio for the Audi is not published, probably because it is using a Quattro system so the final drive is a bit fluid. But, you can see the transmissions are nearly identical in gears. The taller the gear, the more advantage a lighter vehicle has, yes even with such a wide difference in engine torque. A lower torque engine can beat a higher torque engine if it revs higher and applies torque more times per minute (RPM) giving an apparent advantage in power. Same gear ratio, higher RPM's managed by torque converters or clutches.. You get where I am going. On the jump Advantage Trackhawk, while rolling, depends on which gear is used and RPMs for the over-coming of weight.: The Audi RS Q8 has the following gear ratios: First gear: 4.71 Second gear: 3.14 Third gear: 2.11 Fourth gear: 1.67 Fifth gear: 1.28 Sixth gear: 1.0 Seventh gear: 0.84 Eighth gear: 0.67 Reverse gear: 3.32 The gear ratios for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are: First gear: 4.71 Second gear: 3.14 Third gear: 2.11 Fourth gear: 1.67 Fifth gear: 1.29 Sixth gear: 1.00 Seventh gear: 0.84 Eighth gear: 0.67 Reverse gear: 3.30 Final drive axle ratio: 3.70
You two should check out Badass Custom Muscle Cars Compilation | Best of Autotopia They have a few different videos that use the same title, but all are worth seeing.
Audi won in the standing 1/2 mile because the turbos were already mostly spun up. There's also a question of transmission gear ratios. If the gear you're in allows for a higher RPM at the given speed, you'll probably get the really lead. Also, T/S superchargers tend to have great power down low, then run out of breath at higher RPM. Turbos are a bit sluggish down low but make up for it by making tons of power once spun up (without the parasitic loss of a supercharger).
Audi had a shorter stroke engine. Shorter stroke engines reach their peak power FASTER. Small block American V-8s typically out accelerate big blocks(which have longer strokes) initially but the big blocks pass them further you go. 4.0 vs 6.2!
You guys should rent that vehicle for your last week in America. It’s a powerful gas guzzler, so we don’t need for you to ruin your pockets! Only do it for your last bit of fun! Most Muscle Cars are about Drag-From-The-Line Performance and not much of Rolling-Drag Performance! But if you’re in the correct mode, that’s the difference maker! Comfort must have been set to 450 HP vs the full 710 HP!
So, we've learned that the Audi CAN beat the Jeep... as long as it cheats. 😉 They need to be doing these comparisons at a proper track where they can actually verify times and speeds instead of trying to eyeball it. There's just too much room for error this way.
With a tune and exhaust the Audi can be at 1000hp. With that dsg transmission it could smoke the trackhawk. Not much headroom left for track hawk mods. Track hawk is still damn fast for that price though
They obviously not good handling as Germans, but it can take off yeah at least it's awd with 4 auto transfer case.... there is man who built awd Mustang, it's on YT
8:25... Well u gotta take in perspective the actual challenge, comfort mode vs sports or track mode (finding the equivelent modes of each competitor), gear start in roll, so it matters on those things. Sometimes a driver forgets to change the mode, which maybe just happened here, not sure , yet...^^ \O>
Turbo's are better for top end and superchargers are better for low end power. This explains why the German cars are better in a roll race and American is better from a dig. At least that's is my two cents
Why the hell is he racing in comfort mode. Sometimes the things he does in these drag races make absolutely no sense. Like mentioning launch control and not using it, pushing through the brakes lol.
Our American vehicles are built and can be built with more horsepower because we have the more wide open roads and uses (when it comes to trucks) than you Europeans do. I mean, do you really need a fast supercar when you're just driving around London or Rome? Even our regular non-performance vehicles have gone way up in horsepower and torque in the last decade or two. For example, my 2016 3.5L V6 Ecoboost F150 has quite a bit of HP and Torque. 365 HP and 420 lb ft (don't know what your silly Metric Newton measurement is) of Torque. I compared those specs to the 5.7L V8 at the time, and while the V8 had slightly better HP. The twin-turbo V6 had more torque. What's sad is that the 2017 models and above had the Gen 2 Ecoboost motor and its specs were 375 HP with 470 lb ft of Torque. So had I waited just a few months and bought a 2017 model instead of the 2016 model, I would have gotten the new engine package. Not to mention a 10 speed automatic instead of the 6 speed automatic. Granted the low gears in the 10 speed get shifted thru pretty quickly, they're still there and a way to keep your vehicle at lower gears longer if you wanted to.
Track hawk was in comfort mode
They both were.
I said on the last video it's just supercharger vs turbo. The crazy part is, reprogram the Jeep and put the smaller pulley on the Jeep and have an instant ~ 125 hp.
lose power*
Next video yall definitely should watch the Camaro ZL1 1LE race
Sleeper soccer mom car. This is what happens when you have bored auto makers. "Hey, what if we drop a Hellcat motor in a jeep"? 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the reaction.
Couldn’t agree more. Always depends on driver. Place Same car., same course, and let’s go. For someone that’s not really a car enthusiast it’s hard to explain. It’s like if you’re really one with your car, you’d know what I’m trying to explain.
Many pics you see of Track Hawks are crashed bc so many ppl think they need one then they learn they dint know how to handle that much power…
It's got a hellcat engine and spec'd for road use, not keeping. Don't know if the audi is any good off road though.
It really comes down to power/ weight on this one.
You two should check into the late great Ken Block vids if you want to see some cool driving if you haven’t already 😮
It's our American Muscle. 😂 🇺🇸 German Engineering is legendary though 👌
With the roll race it's ALL about the gear you start in. The first race he was in the wrong gear and the car downshifted into a lower gear. The second race he was already in the right gear so it didn't need to downshift first. You'll lose EVER time if you need to downshift first in a roll race.
You should react to the camaro vs mustang vs hellcat by carwow
Comfort mode is regular driving mode lol. But good video.
Btw I’m a BMW technician in the states and do racing as a hobby on and off over the years.
They are badass car's most of them have like 1000 HP.😊
I simply do not understand your love for German cars. In the US they all become money pits as they age, and parts and service for them are over the top. BMWs are an especially a bad investment. They lose resale value at an alarming rate.
They're gorgeous leases. You get to give them back right when they start to cause problems
@@SutekhDaSteemroller But you are paying for the depreciation which is quite a lot in the first couple years.
There is an even bigger Cadilac Escalade V. Think those are 652hp somewhere around there with a supercharged 6.2 liter.
The Escalade V has 682hp.
Turbos take time to build pressure. So I’m a rolling race turbos have built the psi.
Please look for street outlaws. And look for AZN and his Sleeper Jeeper.
Now you gotta check out the Ram TRX
on the first roll race, Juan had down shifted 😭 got that torque back to take off again. The trackhawk didnt 😅
On the jump Advantage Trackhawk, while rolling, depends on which gear is used and RPMs for the over-coming of weight.:
The Audi RS Q8 has the following gear ratios:
First gear: 4.71
Second gear: 3.14
Third gear: 2.11
Fourth gear: 1.67
Fifth gear: 1.28
Sixth gear: 1.0
Seventh gear: 0.84
Eighth gear: 0.67
Reverse gear: 3.32
The gear ratios for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are:
First gear: 4.71
Second gear: 3.14
Third gear: 2.11
Fourth gear: 1.67
Fifth gear: 1.29
Sixth gear: 1.00
Seventh gear: 0.84
Eighth gear: 0.67
Reverse gear: 3.30
Final drive axle ratio: 3.70
Lmao he beat the Audi in comfort mode that’s insane lol Trackmode is full power btw he was in the normal mode
On the rolling race...the turbo comes into play..
Yall reacted to American muscle and now the track down but I need yall to react to the dodge demon or hellcat either or
Like your content because you Bothe kind of not partial. Do a video of Hayden Deegan racing dirt bikes.
You need to react to NASCAR at Le Mans.
turbos take longer to boost but more efficient
Cuz the turbo kicks in
Racing American cars in a drag race is giving them the advantage. It's when the turns come, that American brands fall apart.
Gear ratios would be down to the diffs, pretty sure they bith have the same gearbox
Track hawk has a super charger don't forget about that.
I think it's all in the transmission when they're rolling and going
Audi had a shorter stroke engine. Shorter stroke engines reach their peak power FASTER. Small block American V-8s typically out accelerate big blocks(which have longer strokes) initially but the big blocks pass them further you go. 4.0 vs 6.2!
You guys should react to the c6 zr1 corvette 1000hp
Turbos take time to fully spool up super charger is all the time
You guys should rent that vehicle for your last week in America.
Also get an American driver , this guy sucks
Or!!! Take them around a track, corners included. Thats how the audi will beat a trackhawk
U need to see the super charged track hawk that ones ass 😭
I wonder why he didn't put it in track mode? He kept it in Auto.
Whenever I see Nm I think of nanometers...
He never shift down on the road race 8:35
track hawk was not in track mode (race mode) and audi has a turbo. if you were to put a turbo in the track hawk you'll have a death machine
With a tune and exhaust the Audi can be at 1000hp. With that dsg transmission it could smoke the trackhawk. Not much headroom left for track hawk mods. Track hawk is still damn fast for that price though
Trackhawks pushing 1500whp with mods
Awwww that is soooo cute. They bet on the. Audi. 😂😂😂😂
Please react to Ford F150 Shelby SupervSnake
They obviously not good handling as Germans, but it can take off yeah at least it's awd with 4 auto transfer case.... there is man who built awd Mustang, it's on YT
Fun channel to watch guys b 🎉
A MODED HONDA CIVIC CAN BE FASTER IN A STRAIGHT BUT YOU CANT MAKE A FAST TURN ON THAT THING TO SAVE YOUR LIFE
8:25... Well u gotta take in perspective the actual challenge, comfort mode vs sports or track mode (finding the equivelent modes of each competitor), gear start in roll, so it matters on those things. Sometimes a driver forgets to change the mode, which maybe just happened here, not sure , yet...^^
\O>
The trackhawk won’t break a timing chain at 60k miles and trash the engine. Audi is garbage. I will never buy another one
Mopar (dodge, jeep, ram, srt) makes the best performing vehicles on the planet for the money.
I'd like to see your reaction to the discovery tv series "street outlaws" about american street racing 🙂
You need a clutch pedal 😊and a manual transmission
At 50 up it takes a second longer to torque than big engine
He should've put the Trackhawk in track mode and he would've destroyed that Audi
Its the turbos
he should of been closer to the seat he wasnt using the whole break
The weight gives you more traction 😅
Now react to the trx
He never released the full power of the motor
A little research and practice prior to driving the trackhawk may have helped.
Forgot to put it in sport mode. Hello?? Comfort mode bruh? Come on.
The track Hawk weighs over 5000 pounds.
Dude put the jeep in comfort mpde and raced
Supercharger vs Turbocharger. Braking? Ah track Hawk needs to use proper driving and driving technique.
