@Lbree1077 Joan obviously wasn't either because she had to get that food from the Co-op ended up working at. And she took more care of Deon than she did, by always dumping him on her.
@Lbree1077 she shouldn't have adopted Deon if she couldn't care for him. Like Tasha said in another episode she only got him to fill the void of her oldest son getting killed.
Moms was a little unreasonable here. Although providing those daily essentials are obviously super important, you can’t expect a child to truly appreciate it at the time. Although her father wasn’t there everyday, him showing up for her birthday and taking her out was super special too. The writing and acting was pretty dope on this show.
I agree, and the words of the father were pretty powerful too telling the mother that she didn't believe in his dreams and what he tried to do. Also, the part when the mother admitted to kicking the father out and the kids didn't even know that she did that. He was just portrayed as a father who abandoned his family, but that wasn't the case.
@@Dynasty-Star Yea its straight BS when a mother kicks the father out, and plays victim and has her kids thinking that the father just left the family.
At the end of the day, that's the man that she chose to procreate with, and children should NOT be collateral to their parents' feelings and messes with one another--even if those feelings are justified. That's not a child's burden to bear. Adults create these messy situations, and people like to place the burden to "proportionately honor parents" on innocent children who had no choice in the matter. She has every right to to love her dad no matter what type of guy he is. She's entitled to HER feelings about her father. The mom is entitled to her feelings about her ex, and the son is entitled to HIS feelings about his father. The daughter is not required to share her mom's and brother's anger with the man. That doesn't mean that the girl loves her mom any less. And as unpopular of a reality as it is, parents aren't owed their children's gratitude for doing what a parent is supposed to do. Children may appreciate it when they mature, but they typically don't see it in the moment. People who need their egos stroked by children should not become parents, teachers, mentors, or any other thing that puts them in proximity to kids.
@@tincredible You're completely right. As a parent, you're supposed to take care of your child. However, I can only imagine the pain Joan must feel to see her daughter act like the father is just the greatest thing on earth when he WASN'T doing what he was supposed to be doing.

I'm sure Tasha appreciates her mother but her mother didn't see it at that time but the mother gotta understand she hasn't seen her father in a long time I can understand wear larenz tate is coming growing up with an absent father can scar a kid mostly a boy learning how to grow up to be a man that's when a boy needs his father the most to show him that.
Exactly, I felt that Joan should’ve gave Tasha a big hug but Joan had so much pride and jealousy in her. It’s unfortunate that some parents who are the same gender as their offspring like Mothers have a sheer competition with their daughters just as Fathers has a sheer competition with their sons 💯. Joan wants Tasha appreciates her for putting together her birthday party but Joan also needs to appreciate and be thankful for Tasha for always supporting Joan when taking care of Deion and for stepping up the responsibilities at the household 💯. Overall it’s a great show.
The mom was definitely wrong here. The little girl just wants to see and be around her father. She put him out, and tore apart her own family. Not to mention the mom works her like a dog, and has her take on responsibilities that she shouldnt have to take on, while letting Andre off the hook. Of course Tasha is going to choose her father over her mother. He allows her to be a kid, and gives her that love she doesnt recieve from mom.
I see where the mother is coming from, but also see where Tasha s coming from. She needs to appreciate her Mom, but there seems to be a lack of appreciation for Tasha too. The mother brought the little boy in the house, only for Tasha to mostly take care of him, while she pays most of her attention at home to Andre. So her father get’s romanticized, and is like a fantasy in her head. Though he isn’t shit, her mother not really paying attention to her, makes her long for her father.
That's the problem. It;s the stereotypical narrative f the father's ain't shit predicated upon what the mother said about their baby daddies. The Single mothers are the one's who ain't shit and Kevin Samuels exposed that narrative. Joan was a single mother by preference, The father did commit infidelity, he was laser focus on his purpose and his purpose seemed to be more intangible than just Joan and that's that Joan hated, Blk Men in amerikkka have been taught to put the woman first like Jahiem and that distorts what's more consequential to him. Single mothers teaches their kids, particularly their sons that their fathers are no good so the sons assimilated the brokenness of their mothers without knowing the facts. There's a video in social media of a brutha who's 26 years of age and all this time we was taught by his broken single mother that his father wasn't shit and he never written his letters, send him birthday cards, etc until he met his real father and his father showed proof of all the letters and birthday cards that his mother purposefully concealed from her son so she can sustain the false narrative that his father is garbage. My sister is the same way, that's why I cut that bitch off 3 years ago. She wants the make a mockery of The Most High and her baby daddy, she's gonna get exactly what she deserve. A Punishment that's cataclysmic and that goes for all the single mothers out there
I wish the show lasted so we can learn about (marcus) was he the reason why the parents broke up ? And Tasha was so ungrateful at times ,being a single mother myself I understood Joan’s frustrations 😞 so did Lorenzo tape this around menace II society he looked like he stepped right off the set

Larenz Tate was in a lot of sitcoms when he was younger and Tasha Scott can act that scene at the end when she was talking with her Mother about how she's never going to turn her back on her dad no matter what 😢
There was another episode "Men" that TVOne didn't air that I just uploaded
Tasha is overjoyed when her father, James, unexpectedly shows up for her 14th birthday party, but her mother and brother are less than thrilled. Despite Nicole's pleas, Andre refuses to behave civilly toward his father. Andre confronts a group of gang members who try to crash the party. He is furious when James comes off as the hero by defusing the situation peacefully. Andre tells him off and starts a shoving match. After James criticizes Joan's parenting skills, she screams and throws him out of the party. Tasha follows her father and spends the rest of the day with him. Andre discovers some surprising information, although he had assumed that James abandoned the family. Joan actually ended the marriage. When Tasha returns, Joan tells her she doesn't have to turn her back on her father, but could show her mother some appreciation.

I just need to see this episode so bad, and I don't know how to act.
Right right same 🤦🏽♂️ 🤨😆
Tina Lifford played Otis' mother, Haze, from The Temptations in 1998.
She also did a cameo in the Funkdafied video by Da Brat
Edit: the “a” popped up twice. I’m only typing this disclaimer, because TH-cam tells on you when you make an edit 🤷🏾♂️🤣
Yes I liked her as Haze....not so much up here.
Thank you soo much uploading this I had this on tape back in the day but, I didn't have the whole episode so I never knew how it started

Aaaah! Yes! The episode we've all been waiting for. I'm kinda late lol but glad it's here.😊
When Fox canceled this. UPN should’ve picked it up, but instead it gave us this show mixed with Thea to equal Moesha.

I love that bebe moore Campbell daughter had to play in this picture 🖼 cause she fits this show
Yes Maia Campbell who a year later was a regular on in the house along with Debbie Allen and ll cool j
LoL Hakeem and niecy
I remember when Nicole broke-up with Andre for pulling out the Strap on this Dude on the Bus
I loved this show! Larenz Tate and Tasha Clark were such awesome young talent.
Believe it or not Joan was the underlying problem in this whole episode . and why she put her hands on a man was problematic alone.
O Dog had a nice home life..never should've hooked up with Kain....smh....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This show came after menace 2 Society after when kain had died O Dog went back home to live with his mom and sister
@@sarahsimpkins1311 Its a joke

I'm sure Tasha appreciates her mother but her mother didn't see it at that time but the mother gotta understand she hasn't seen her father in a long time I can understand wear larenz tate is coming growing up with an absent father can scar a kid mostly a boy learning how to grow up to be a man that's when a boy needs his father the most to show him that.
Cali look way different at the time and party back in the day
I hope mia is doing better now
she must have a different relationship with her father than her brother
I am going to watch it again
I wanna see more episodes of South Central
How could the mom see her daughter crying like that and not give her a hug
Because that's how those women were back in the 90s I couldn't stand those women in the 90s
Does anyone know what Tasha said happened at the end? I couldn't hear what she told her mom.
She said "I'm not gonna turn my back on my daddy because you and Andre don't like him." Those were genuine tears
@@burghsfinest That makes sense. Thank you.

The series came out a year later in 94
that last scene when Tasha cryin about not turnin her back her day the Actress real age low key showed
Man this show came on TV one.
Best episode of the series... Tasha seemed a little ungrateful, though...all the trouble everyone went through...
Yes
She wasn't ungrateful, she misses her daddy.
@@seanlewis1148 She can miss you dad but still didn’t have to treat her mom like that.
@@LifeIsNotorious Her mom wasn't shit and was very selfish herself!
I remember this show
She just miss her dad but her mom the one that been taking care of them I guess she was thinking since my mom always yell at both of my brothers she doesn’t care about me but that not true and Tasha know her mom is right
Dam good post
Damn this show ain’t last at all I think it’s a great show
Young black actors some who I wish went farther in their careers
Larenz doing quite well though
Tasha was actually in her twenties her and she is older than Larenz.
Lamont died to young but he will always for the fans who truly be missed and loved be remembered .he always been like a.brother and a friend my boy you was coolest. Ever known even on.brandy,s old show Moe.
