I really like the retro look of some of the new mopeds, but converting a classic like a Puch would be even better. That is the perfect moped.

Hello! I've been reading your blog and it's really interesting. I've been thinking about this a long time ago, i would like to ask you about the speed that u are getting from this engine? i was planning on taking the same one but with 2000w and maybe switch to 60v. What milage are you taking so far with the 20 Ah battery?
thank you very much and looking forward to see more!

I still need to do a real GPS speed-test, but I can keep up with traffic just fine in 25 MPH zones. No more than 30MPH I'd guess, at this point.

Hey mate what a fantastic project! I have a 1972 maxi here in the UK. It is legal for us to ride electric bicycles without licence and insurance, as where you need one for a moped. This really has inspired me to get on with the conversion so thanks! have you upgraded the brakes as well?

Glad it inspired you Samuel! Would love to see progress on your conversion. I have not yet upgraded the brakes, but will probably do that once the riding season winds down.

Also, here's a recent picture from a week ago, after I cleaned up the cabling, and put the battery, motor controller, and electrical box and cabling in a battery box on the rear luggage rack: photos.app.goo.gl/URmhZSgeet4Xs5CF7

Found your blog online about this build, very cool. I’m doing something similar so I’m curious, what’s the top speed with your gear ratio and motor? And how long does the 20 Ah motor last at typical cruising speeds?

I have exactly the same question. Considering doing the same on my Tomos.
      Thx
